Absolutely brilliant, thanks for the homemade jig tip. I make many of my own tools, out of necessity, due to unavailability, I'm embarrassed to say this didn't cross my mind. SPLENDID ! THANK YOU !!!

You just saved me $36 for buying a bar dressing tool, I already use the file to get the burrs off, but was searching for how to "level" each rail, now I will make my own, thank you

How would you widen a bent groove? I just bought a bar from cannon and the groove came bent.

How much needs to be fixed? You could spread it with a cold chisel ground to fit or a screwdriver and keep measuring it with calipers until it is right or just a tiny bit big and the chain moves through it. Then you'd want to tap it back to a perfect dimension. The drive links can be your guide. They will wear it in if it's a tiny bit tight.

Find a good part of the bar groove to test the drivelink side to side fit and then just keep tapping it in till you get close. Would Cannon warranty the bar?

You can also use a feeler gauge stack that is snug in a good part of the bar but still slides and use that to gauge your progress. Keep going till the gauge stack slides through the entire groove. If it's loose in spots, tap it closed slightly.

@@williamprophett9148 thanks for getting back, it’s a very small amount of material that needs to be removed. I think I like the file the best. Thanks again.
