Fun fact about the mongol. The mongol horde also known as the golden horde in China. They are well-verse in the human wave tactic when it come to siege battle. They would send in wave after wave of Human slave that they enslave from previous victory loot. The human slave are promise freedom or promotion within the mongol society as they are one the country that easily accept other nationality as they own as long as they have the talent. So in this case, those human slave are literally fighting for the sake of "freedom" Quite similar to the modern term of fighting for freedom, except, now we get supply and owe debt to the supplier.

You have to consider that the wildlife would also eat the eggs. If it’s a pathogen, it’s likely that it doesn’t infect animals and it can’t spread through digestion. Due to this, the amazon would be better. The mountains would also be great, but we need to consider that the air may be too thin for many to breathe in

I don't really think it would be the best time for potentially infected animals tho... For example, what if what you said is wrong and the virus spreads like crazy. You also need to take into account the humidity of the rainforests which would create an ideal environment to grow and conceal zombie hordes. Basically no one's coming to Brazil anymore
