i guess i have my bad habits.. but i dont dangerously cut up. i dont whiteline i just change lanes a lot.. but i dont cut up with other people. i dont do it for joy, i usually just do it on the way home after having a long day. i dont race, cops do show up somtimes.. andd people who do it usually have a bmw (2018 m3 here). if there is traffic ill wait in the traffic. if there is a big gap im gonna take it. the most ill usually go is 115 in sesh if traffic is clear.

As a trucker (I know I know, I bring it up too much and no one cares), it PAINS me, to see so many people who just don't understand how dangerous what they're doing is. I have seen some things on the road that would make most people paranoid to drive at all. Also, that clip with the Camaro... I've seen way too many drivers lose their jobs because of assholes like this guy. Not just risking lives but ruining them too, because truck drivers are typically blamed even when not at fault. Then there's the fact that these people don't understand the physics behind what they're doing at all. getting hard on the brakes to weave around someone is just mentally retarded. He put all of that load on the front tires, making the rear go light. Then the jerk of the wheel caused an oscillation. At that point he was in a slide and continued hard on the brakes while 'trying' to correct, just continuing the rotational momentum he had. All he had to do, is get off of the pedal. Or, alternatively, NOT DO THIS AT ALL. Fun in a car is cool and all, I'm no anti-car Karen (I mean, I'm watching this channel), but don't fuck up my life with your "fun". There are plenty of twisty roads, empty highways, and racetracks just begging to be enjoyed, all over the U.S. I know because I've been on quite a few of them. Why choose the middle of traffic?

If it makes you feel better your words aren’t falling on deaf ears my friend. I got a little bit of experience recently driving for a company, not big rigs or anything but it permanently changed my perspective and the way I drive forever. People truly do not understand the power of those vehicles and just how close they come to becoming a human pancake every time they get on the highway or hop in front of one of those trucks. Every time I left the yard I had to worry about some idiot getting me fired or worse, that’s probably half the reason why I’m not doing that stuff anymore to be honest. But to this day if I EVER have the opportunity to yield for a trucker or make their life easier and safer on the road by making any small adjustment I do it. People really just don’t get it. That clip with the Camaro really grinded my gears too. Pretty much a perfect example of the thing I was constantly paranoid of and you’re 100% correct 9 times out of 10 the truck driver gets hosed anyway. I have the utmost respect for you guys

I’ve started seeing this more and more on Instagram and it NEEDS TO STOP NOW! Look, I like driving fast as much as the next guy but you need to be safe while you’re doing it. Driving fast in heavy traffic for example is a huge no no. You are putting so many lives at risk when you do that. Personally if your mega speeding at 2am on the highway and there’s no one else around, frankly just go for it if your confident in your car’s ability. But as soon as you see other vehicles, slow down. These people are going to make the act of enjoying cars illegal and for the sake of the car community, I urge you to have a loud voice and speak out against people that think this is a good idea. I don’t know about you but this is the hill I’ll die on.

I think some major problem contributing to people swimming is because the avg citizen doesnt know how to stick to the proper lane. In a perfect world where people use lanes properly the swimmers wont be able to swim since the passing lane will be mostly empty keeping all the drivers who wanna go faster in there instead of having then swerve in and out. Also the people in this video are genuinely bad drivers.
@jordanseay216
@jordanseay216 Жыл бұрын
@@exb940 yea but you have to remember that often times these swimmers do what they do during rush hour, a time when there is so much traffic, it is acceptable to take up all the available lanes. I agree, the lane discipline here is atrocious but they often do it when the volumes of traffic are the highest and use all the available lanes. Maybe it’s part of the issue during non rush hour times but otherwise it should not really be a notable factor imo.

Got the big brake package I salvaged off the wrecked cobra, and I salvaged the cobras rear diff. I took a sport package CV apart to get the interior and those nice looking 16 inch sport wheels. The A/C still works too. It’s nice to have a fast stock looking machine that nobody ever suspects. I can use it for daily driver stuff ( but I’ve got a 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR for that stuff) and when I wanna throw down I can. One switch to open the cutouts, one switch to flip to the more aggressive mode, and one switch to activate the cryo cooler. My last trip to the drag strip with 10.5 slicks on the car I hit 11.30, they told me any faster and I would have to put a roll cage in it which would ruin my stock appearance.

neeehhh this is the one time i mostly disagree w drew, the blatant lack of a brain it takes when running ppl over in a parking lot/at a takeover or blocking emergency vehicles at takeovers THATS worse, "swimming" was just suddenly a new word to call this- and it was never a problem with the diehard tuner community and all cool when the midnight club did it (and many rumors say r still doing it) on the wangan and highways alike, the problem is its morons trying it now cuz with the internet as it is they think since they've heard and seen of significantly (and i can't stress SIGNIFICANTLY enough) greater drivers doing it throughout the course of tuner history all of a sudden they think they have some sort of new aptitude or inherent skill or the HARDWARE to pull it off anywhere near safely. and then u know how it is one idiot inspires another, and im fully aware (and for arguments sake) the midnight club and drivers alike generally go late at night where traffic is minimal and that is how it should be, granted, the state of the political climate atm and amount of angst and raw idiots there be in the world atm i personally have far less of a bone to pick with people who have the balls to do this as their vice/to say fuck u to the law and politics as a sort of anti movement, and then u actually dont die i then personally say that claims you as a better driver than most people, HOWEVER, these dumbass kids going around in their near stock infiniti or altima or civic or something, with essentially no practice behind the wheel SERIOUSLY nor the proper hardware in their car and blatantly arent prioritizing the lives of others when they race yes i do agree its incredibly stupid and revolting, but i personally have no problem with calling it swimming for many people in dense cities no matter the hour most highways near them have traffic and that's how this whole idea got birthed, and frankly idk hate me but i really don't despise it, its also bringing cars back like never before, i just hate idiots period, it depends who does it imo... we all know we can probably thank 981 for this and he really has been doing it for a veeerry long time, does that make it right neh but theres A LOT of pretty "illegal" things all diehard tuners do so... as i said it really depends who does it and why and if they can really drive and the ethics you actually try to adhere to before everything else, which i do believe 981 does you could tell in the way he drives but i would also like it if 981 at least TRIED to have a disclaimer... and i hope he doesn't get too full of himself and end up causing something terrible (i think itd probably be news worthy mark my words just by how popular he is) but if he's a real one for lack of better word, he wont, otherwise i guarantee you one day he'll be caught or crash and im sure that'll put the kabosh on a lot of this... karma will get who it comes for when it comes to this shit, no pun intended... edit: but we've all carved up plenty of traffic in a hurry and gotten a rush out of it dont say u havent...

I drive a BRZ, and today I encountered a guy in a modified accord, and I’ll admit, when he started “swimming”, I followed. It didn’t seem like it would be too harmful, because in a sea of cars going 65-75mph, we were going like 80-90. However, the difference between that guy and myself is that I still made every lane change using my signals, never cut across more than 1 lane at a time, any gap I went through I wouldn’t enter unless I was positive I had at least 1/3 the length of my car ahead of and behind me, and was driving at like ~75% of what I know I’m capable of. The accord guy, on the other hand, was just getting more reckless by the second. The moment I saw him make a move where it looked like his car was getting unbalanced, I simply backed off, and went back to driving normal. BRZ’s might not be anything special, but it’s my most valuable possession that I’m not willing to risk losing. Idk if the other guy was tying to prove something by making those risky cuts, but I just wanted to have a little devious fun since I hadn’t been able to attend any auto-x for awhile. ….The guys in this video are just something else entirely…..so much so that I was terrified for my life just watching them from my chair.

I used to be wilding out !! However my Mom showed me how to use the power when necessary and showed me that Constant 100mph (30mph) ain’t gonna take much time off of the trip . Also it’s better take your time and wait for bigger openings because “ yeah you can always rush and get in front of someone but it’s a waste if it’s not clear in front them ….. You just wasted gas.” Here I am with one more year of my driving probation. I really recommend that you slow down and sit in the traveling lane and just observe how other aggressive drivers drive and how risky it is . Also don’t fuck up your bag over your license. That 3 month suspension ain’t pretty to employers . Missed out on Easy CONSISTENT WELDING JOB . Not worth it hit the backroads and risk your own life and if you got to hit on the highway make sure there’s plenty of room. Be Mature and Time and Place

Back roads at night is so much better to some degree, i dont drive fast on them but i will take my turns with a lil speed then apex it. You gotta have a sharp eye ofcoarse because of deer. Now on the highway, i wouldnt necessarily say i "swim or cut up" but i do drive fast when i see the opportunity and know for a fact im good to go. Theres soo much to pay attention to that its important to sit upright, and focus on your surroundings and the sound of your car. I do my own maintenance on my car, so hearing an odd sound or new one is frightening lol only to find out its the car next to me, which is enormously relieving 😂. amyways, i deeply enjoy driving in general even in low rpms to hear them burbles an cracks! ❤

nah i think they would get bored and continue cutting up. Hell, how many times have you seen a COMPLETELY OPEN fast lane and the IDIOTS cutting up don't even use it so they can swerve around a couple more cars? 6:05 idiot does exactly this. No one in fast lane, he still makes a risky cut for the fuck of it. They literally just like swerving obstacles, they will keep doing that regardless of how many people drive slow in the fast lane

Taking zero accountability. 😂 Knowing those drivers will always exist it’s up to the faster drivers to correct and slow and give space then wait to pass and come back up to speed. It’s not your lane. We’re all just borrowing space. If you want to go fast and they don’t be a courteous and safe driver. You’re not on a race track. It’s a public highway

I watched an interview with some of the people who "swim" and they brought up an interesting point. If people respected the keep right except to pass this wouldn't be as big of an issue. They shouldn't be driving like they are, it is reckless and dangerous. However, if these people are driving like this regardless, it would be completely impossible to "swim" if everyone else kept right as they would just rip it down the left lane. This particular interview the guy has videos where if the left lane was clear he drove in the left lane and didn't "swim" through traffic. And some who do this will do it regardless of the left lane being clear. Again, there is no excuse for the way they drive especially when it is "swimming", I just thought it was an interesting perspective from the people who do drive like this.

Left lane hogs is definitely a reason why people cut up. Not saying it’s safe or good obviously but if slower traffic stayed in the right lanes like they’re suppose to and kept the left lane for passing only then I don’t think you’d see this issue as much.

Something I've noticed with a good chunk of supercar fails is the lack of maintenance because they're garage queens. Those soft summer tyres can 'expire' and wont hook up when you finally do take the car out and run it hard after 2-3yrs of barely being driven. That EVO was abit newer, however, so it could simply be total driver error. Still made me cringe 😬 Huracans/R8s have a special place in my heart for being one of the few (if not only) worthy V10s out there.

"swimming" is something invented by people like where's 981, float8x, thestolenf80, BriQ50, etc, they made the whole thing, it's all about elegance, and they do it in a safe manner, in cars made for driving fast and that stay planted. People who don't have the skill set or cars not up for the job do what's called "cutting up" Wich is much tighter, faster versions of swimming, they never use there signals, they go for the tightest cuts possible, don't slow down enough at all, and floor it all the time. Swimming isn't about cutting up, it was started as a way to get around people who sit in the left lane. I'm okay with real swimming, cutting up is idiotic, swimming is fine.

A Honda Odyssey has no top end power. It's first and second gears have a lot of torture, the 0 to 60 is impressive for a minivan, but after 3rd gear there is almost no power. If you're going 65 on a freeway and go full throttle, you hear the engine rev up but you don't start accelerating for almost 5 seconds, and even then the car barely accelerates. There is no VTEC for an Odyssey, it prioritizes fuel economy.

What's unusual is that "Swimming" has existed for a long enough time so that people have actually mastered it. Wheres981 is an example of this. It took about a year or two for him to finally crash his 981 Porsche Cayman S, buying a BMW M2 afterwards and using that for his "Swimming" runs. He's known for doing this right in front of NYPD squad cars and just getting away with it. They'll flip on their lights and chase after him, but he'd always get away. Other channels with similar cars, E92 M3s and the like, have popped up on KZfaq. It's impressive in a twisted way that people have gotten so good at this.

u make a great point and it is a great a point but frankly cmon u know we're long past that the cops already have plenty of excuses thanks to everything else... i posted this elsewhere ill paste it here too: this is the one time i mostly disagree w drew, the blatant lack of a brain it takes when running ppl over in a parking lot/at a takeover or blocking emergency vehicles at takeovers THATS worse, "swimming" was just suddenly a new word to call this- and it was never a problem with the diehard tuner community and all cool when the midnight club did it (and many rumors say r still doing it) on the wangan and highways alike, the problem is its morons trying it now cuz with the internet as it is they think since they've heard and seen of significantly (and i can't stress SIGNIFICANTLY enough) greater drivers doing it throughout the course of tuner history all of a sudden they think they have some sort of new aptitude or inherent skill or the HARDWARE to pull it off anywhere near safely. and then u know how it is one idiot inspires another, and im fully aware (and for the sake of the argument) the midnight club and drivers alike generally go late at night where traffic is minimal and that's how it should be, granted, the state of the political climate atm and amount of angst and raw idiots there be in the world atm i personally have far less of a bone to pick with people who have the balls to do this as their vice/to say fuck u to the law and politics as a sort of anti movement, and then u actually dont die i personally say that claims you as a better driver than most people, HOWEVER, these dumbass kids are going around in their near stock infiniti or altima or civic or something, with essentially NO practice behind the wheel SERIOUSLY nor the proper hardware in their car and blatantly arent prioritizing the lives of others when they race yes i do agree its incredibly stupid and revolting, but i personally have no problem with calling it swimming cuz for many people in dense cities no matter the hour most highways near them have traffic and that's how this whole idea got birthed, and frankly idk hate me but i really don't despise it, its also bringing cars back like never before, i just hate idiots period, it depends who does it imo... we all know we can probably thank 981 for this and he really has been doing it for a veeerry long time, does that make it right neh but theres A LOT of pretty "illegal" things all diehard tuners do so... as i said it really depends who does it and why and if they can really drive and the ethics you actually try to adhere to before everything else, which i do believe 981 does you could tell in the way he drives but i would also like it if 981 at least TRIED to have a disclaimer... and i hope he doesn't get too full of himself and end up causing something terrible (i think itd probably be news worthy mark my words just by how popular he is) but if he's a real one for lack of better word, he wont, otherwise i guarantee you one day he'll be caught or crash and im sure that'll put the kabosh on a lot of this... karma will get who it comes for when it comes to this shit, no pun intended... but we've all carved up plenty of traffic in a hurry and gotten a rush out of it dont say u havent...

Like anything in life, not all swimmers are equal. There are those who do it safer (still not safe, moral, or legal) than others. For example the NYC swim team never uses the shoulder, never takes a blind cut, never cut's off emergency vehicles (besides cops) or school busses, always use their directional, and knows when to call it quits bc there are to many people on the road or traffic is backed up ahead. Then there's these "no hesi" or "cutting up" goobers who you featured in the video, who not only don't know how to drive at all but are so specially unaware it's insane. 320 credit score is being generous lmao
