One of the biggest motivators for when I first started truly lifting in the late 90's was him on (I believe) the cover of a Muscle & Fitness mag with that Superman tattoo, and I remember it going over him and his mom competing.

We all have mental health issues in some way, but I have two family members who have diagnosed mental health issues and getting them to exercise consistently is a struggle. But they’re both willing to see doctors and therapists….which is great. But how amazing it would be if mental health workers worked alongside fitness experts! I wonder if they would be way more willing to be consistent with exercise if they were directed to do so from a doctor…and oh…what if insurance covered the expense! What a concept!

the other factor regarding exercise over a pill is that insurance won't cover the cost of home gym equipment or a gym membership but they will cover the cost of a pill. also, big pharma would lobby against it. and the doctors would have no incentive to prescribe exercise b/c they get no kick backs or perks like they do with big pharma. similarly, insurance will pay for your autoimmune condition meds but they won't help pay for allergen free foods that are the source of the autoimmune condition many times. i know from personal experience . i was supposed to be put on humira and methotrexate for enteropathic arthritis but my doc gave me 3 months to try a paleo diet. 2 weeks into the diet, all my symptoms were gone and i never needed the meds. that was 8 years ago. but insurance isn't going to pay for the higher grocery foods. heck, the IRS doesn't even given you a tax break on any of this stuff. but the IRS will let you write off the cost of meds. the whole system, from every angle works against the patient to put money in the pockets of big food and big pharma.

About the kids and not moving, IDK which is the cause or correlation but similar numbers show up around studies based on tree canopy and tree number in proximity to where kids grow up. Obv the more trees, the more often there is a place to play. I also recall a neuroscientist whose theory of life mentioned something about life seeming to exist to move. Any who, great info on the study about exercise as a modality to treat depression, anxiety, mental health, etc.

To give a little insight on the careers from a counselor, with psychology you do have to go on to get a masters and get licensed to actually see any money. Same with Social work. Most of the money with that comes from furthering education and getting different licenses and certifications. The low wages they are reporting are like right out of college with no experience and such.

Question: which one of your programs do you recommend? I’m a trainer but want to do something different in terms of structure. I train… almost every day, but not for growth or something specific. I do mainly total body but not to maximize size just to use more energy. I focus on mobility and body strength. I want to change things up but not sure what to explore. I enjoy boxing, jiujitsu, weightlifting and fun training.
