Although I am a fan of Warhammer 40k and Cavill, I'm a little concerned he's going into that genre. As much a I love it, it is one of the more absurd fictional universes, with giant holes in the story and logic of how the world works. Honestly I can't quite put my finger on why as an adult i still find it so fascinating. I'm not sure it can be brought into the mainstream and be taken seriously by those who already aren't on board with it, and Cavill might be hurting his career. I do think whoever is making the Lore for GW these days are taking major steps to adjusting the world to a more mature one that make sense. I also understand that the lore had to keep in mind that this is all based on a tabletop game where any faction needs to be justified in fighting any other faction at any time, which produces a lot pressure to make in world lore be very illogical at times. Still, if there is a list of people who could pull it off through passion, talent, and popular good will, Henry Cavill would have to be on it.

How can Henry Cavill be treated so badly yet be so polite when speaking of those who did him dirt? How can he be that perfect for a role, that well liked, that popular with anyone and everyone, yet be fired for the gig everyone wants to see him in as Hollywood is struggling to revive a franchise? And yet he still speaks kindly and professionally about everyone he's worked for who screwed him over. How can he do all that? Because he actually is Superman.

Samuel, are you sure you are 18? because you are not speaking as an adult but as a kid. Every adult has been treated badly by some other adult in their life and it is up to them as how to speak about it. Every adult has a master to their life and it is up to them as to how they treat them no matter how they were treated by them. The 'I want some hope in our movies' sums up SO much of what the problem is. Deconstructions have their place, and the ones that work have writers that DON'T hate the thing they're deconstructing. One of the reasons the original Star Wars was so successful was because it was a breath of fresh air in a rather grimdark period in cinema (and world affairs). Cavil was one of the very few positives in the DC universe lately. A classy dude with some solid acting chops. I also hate to see him move on from the Witcher role, but the writers are destroying that franchise, so I don't blame him. He cares about the source material and it shows in his portrayal of Geralt. The books are really good, and I think that respecting Sapkowski's stories on screen would have yielded a series that appealed to both the people that loved that games and the portion of the public that doesn't play video games. There were some real opportunity in the Witcher series, particularly with Cavil in the role of Geralt, and it was completely wasted by Netflix.

If I were the DC brass I would have kept Henry, soft rebooted the universe all the way back to Man of Steel and started from there. I know MoS had it's issues and I know a lot of people didn't like it but I think it gives a pretty good base for a proper Superman portrayal, they just didn't use it. You can set it a couple years after the events of MoS and have Superman realize that he was just a passive hero before, only helping people when they were nearby and that isn't enough anymore. He's now fully dedicated himself to helping people. Stopping criminals, saving crashing airplanes, talking depressed teenage girls off of rooftops, being there for people when and where they need him. Proper hero shit. Maybe have him realize that killing Zod was wrong and vow never to take a life again. Definitely dye the suit in brighter colours. Make him be hopeful and cheerful, a beacon of light in these dark times. A goddamned inspiration like he's supposed to be. But for the love of god don't have him mope around for the entire freaking movie like BvS. SUPERMAN SMILES! Then and ONLY then, do you build the universe. You could do separate Batman, Wonder Woman etc films after MoS 2, or if you want to cash in on a group film do a worlds finest film (Batman/Superman. my personal preference) or a Trinity film (Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman). You could recast those roles if you needed to, I still like Ben and Gal but I get recasting them if necessary. No Justice League yet. Too soon. Start introducing other characters in solo films. I don't care if people say "waah, you're just copying Marvel". So what? It works, do it. Don't genderswap or raceswap characters, that'll just alienate your core audience and won't attract enough new people to offset that. Instead, if you want to push 'the message' use existing characters. DC has hundreds of characters to choose from, from every background you can imagine. If you want a specific category, there's a character for that. And they probably have a pretty dedicated fanbase too.

I like Mauler's idea of a Flash paradox disaster scenario. That's similar to how Final Fantasy 14 re-tooled for 'A Realm Reborn' where the terrible state that the original game launched in was completely rebuilt and replaced from the ground up -- but the reset was presented as a 'meteor' striking the world so that there was narrative continuity across versions. It worked very well and gave an interesting sense of history to the world moving forward. It was the ultimate "yes, and".

Another thing about the FF14 reset was that the creators acknowledged the mistakes of the first release and worked to fix it. That requires humility and respect to the fans... something WB/DC seems to lack.

18:45 How about Aslan (The Chronicles of Narnia)? With all due respect to Liam Neeson (he's one of my favorite actors and, in my opinion, did a *phenomenal* job with the role himself), Henry Cavill's second *only* to Kit Harington (another favorite) as the actor I'd choose to voice Aslan in future Narnia-related projects.

Seeing Henry as a Primarch or a Space Marine Captain instead of MoS? I say it's a good trade.

I would rather see him as some one as Gaunt, Eisenhorn or Cain. Space marines stories, hmm not sure if he looks like as any Primarch, maybe Brother Captain of some chapter or so, but I think Inquisition or Astramilitarum would suit him better.

It’s such a shame because they found the perfect actors for so many of the roles they just had bad writing and directing. When Az went off he was spot on. Very well said. Shows like the boys and peacemaker are fun to watch but how long can that last. Where are the optimistic films that society needs to carry us forward.

Yeah... BvS destroyed everything all in one film. Rushed Justice League appearances, no solo Batman movie beforehand.... Basically everything MCU did to craft their avengers, DC did in a year and it failed so hard. And then they tried to keep the franchise going without any clear direction or writing. Now we have a couple great movies (WW and Shazam), a couple mid movies (Aquaman and Black Adam) and some really awful movies (the rest of them) and it's just whatever. I'm glad they're rebooting, but man they fucked everything up hard.

The rant that Heelvs went on was actually heartbreaking because it was so spot on accurate. *WOKENESS* has destroyed and is destroying the superhero genre and all that it touches. Oh well, the ride was fun.

On one hand, it feels like a gutpunch after Henry leaves both Witcher & Superman, but on the plus side we do get him doing a 40k universe. As he actually collects and reads the lore, he's an incredible fit since he will be involved in all of the vids. Interesting that it's 40k though; does that include the Heresy series? I would suspect that occupies another license.

18:31 I will add to what the drinker said about Cavill that Henry was classy off screen as well. He was good for the press tour as well … something often overlooked (by DC anyway)

Produced by Amazon. If anything expect Cavill to be playing second fiddle to a female space marine. They are going to make a God of War series where most likely result is Atreus becoming a girl 😂
