Roger you did a great job on the driveway !! I appreciate you taking the time to share with us !! What I would like to know ,if it is not a secret lol , who has worked with you on understanding the pulling and crowning the driveway !! You worked that like someone with 20 years experience !! Great job pulling drainage from each side to the middle. If you had ditching for drainage on only one side you would crown the opposite side. Again great job my friend !!! Please be safe and God bless you all !!!!! Eddy

You just saved me $3000! I have a 1/2 mile lane to my house and didn’t realize how effective using the backside of the scraper blade can be... I was convinced I needed a York rake to do the finish work and was days away from placid an order when I checked out your video.. so when we had this spell of warm weather this winter I pull out the Woods Scraper I bought used last year and was able to bring about an inch of gravel off the edge of the lane back into the wheel path that was developing from the soggy weather. Now the crown is back! I tell you it pays to have a quality blade, the Tractor Supply King Cutter I had is bent already and doesn’t have the weight to work backwards. Thanks so much for the video!

That is awesome! I'm glad my video helped you fix your driveway. Yeah, that TSC blades are not much good. They are okay on a small tractor.

Roger, you did an excellent job. Like Ray Eddy said, looks you've been doing this for 20 years. Not only the job looks nice, but it is deeply well done. You took time to loose material deep enough to remove the valleys to start with an even base, then spread it to perfection, then roll it plenty of time. So there won't be any soft spot where the water will wash the material at the next rain. With loosening as much material it is easy to fall into the curl affect. Which you avoided. I am impressed! Thanks for sharing!

Your tractor with that blade did a great job of leveling the gravel up to your house and you all are probably pleased with the results. I have to get ready to use my tractor and box blade to do that in my yard this Winter, and then go back over it with my landscaping rake to see how it will look. I have holes to fill and will be using soil from elsewhere to fill them in and let the soil settle so it is ready when next Spring comes around.

Yeah, for some reason they are little scarce. You think they would have been popular because it was the smallest one with the 854 loader. The 3940 and the 4740 seem to be real popular. What trans do you have?

Tractor Tech I have the DT manual transmission. When I bought I didn’t know much about tractors. And money was a little tight. I have recently bought a BX and the hydro is great. Also recently added a set of rear remotes. I didn’t know about them either when I made the initial purchase! Learning is expensive sometimes!

I’ve been trying to decide between a box blade or a scraper blade. Ideally I’d have both, but the budget only allows for one. After watching this I’m thinking I’ll buy the scraper blade. While I think the box blade would be best for leveling, I think the scraper blade will be more versatile overall for leveling, cutting ditches etc. and it’s $400 cheaper.

What cameras do you use and what software do you edit with? Thanks in advance
@TractorTech5 жыл бұрын
I use primarily use a gopro hero 5. The picture quality is great but the sound quality is horrible. Everyone that has had a gopro hero 5 has had audio issues. The 6 also does. It sounds like you are tapping on the mic if you carry the camera on a tripod or grip. Their customer service is horrible. So I would not recommend any gopro products. Sometimes, but not often I will use my cellphone(S8) also as a camera. I have a really nice tripod mount for it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P4VAHAI/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There are now some mounts like mine that also have a cold shoe mount for mounting a mic which would be nice. Then I have a cheap camera as a backup camera or I can use it to get a dangerous shot. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXXP4EC/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The audio is better than the go pro but the picture is grainy. Also the sun need to be behind the camera or it really washes the picture out. I use corel video studio to edit. Then I have a big accessory kit for my go pro so I can mount it on anything. I also have the gro pro suction cup mount for it. They are really good. 1320video had a video of a car that wrecked with their go pro on the window and the window popped out and slid down the track and the camera never came off. That sold me on that mount.

Thanks Roger. Nice demonstration. Yep, I thought it was going to be a difficult fix after you started digging into the sides, but it turned out really quite well. I was wondering why you didn't use a box blade but the concept was to show how a scraper blade could essentially do the same quality work. Thanks. Say hey to your dad.
@TractorTech6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it looked like a big mess in person. I should have said why I used the rear blade in the beginning. Where a box blade shines over a scraper blade is it has the ability to carry material. With a scraper blade it just falls off to the sides. I'll my Dad you said hi.
