I use to report hazardous chemicals for a living and food manufacturers need to get these hazards out of our food supply! Our food would not cause inflammation if we didn't put hazards in the food.

Haven't eaten store bought bread in four decades. Back in the 80's, talk show host Mike Douglas had a guest that was against purchasing pre-packaged foods such as breads. This was back in the day when there were no nutritional labels so none of us had a clue what was in them. While vacationing in Japan in 86, we went to a mall when we smelt fresh baked cinnamon bread. We followed the scent and a lady was demonstrating a breadmaker, and I bought it, the saleslady writing up the order to change the power cord to US standards. They mailed it to me. After almost forty years, been using breadmakers and makes the best bread ever. Never bought storebought since. Glad I did. Only bummer is that fresh baked only lasts a few days and molds quickly due to no preservatives added. Great video have a great day!

For 62 years of my life I ate lots of bread. For last four years I have given up all bread (along with other toxic foods). Just say NO to ALL breads. Healthier now than ever!

@@allesasmartnothing wrong with healthy carbs. Potatoes, fruits are not the problem. The problem is fats, especially from animal products.

My choice too for a few yrs now, I don't notice anything other than the quality when consuming it, but I normally don't do much bread anyway, one loaf (in the freezer) lasts me a month or two. Haven't done white in decades.

The daves killer bread 21 appears to be the best one. The rasin bread is the only one without added gluten. The only thing better is sprouted grains

After quitting white flour products and starchy food for about 5 years, I'd have a loaf of Dave's seed bread in the fridge for a long time. Occasionally, I'd indulge but really didn't want it anymore. Over this winter, I suddenly got cravings for bread, but not store-bought. I've been making my own as simply as possible.

I’ve been making my own bread for three years now sourdough starter makes great bread, crackers, bagels, English, muffins, piecrust, etc. usually 4 to 6 ingredients

People, listen to what he is saying, he isn't lying. I went on the carnivore diet because I had to get off carbohydrates. I was able to get off all my medicine after my doctor said I would have to take them for the rest of my life. Things I didn't even know were wrong with me have gone away, and most of all, my mind has cleared up so much. My memory is better, my ability to make complicated decisions quickly has greatly increased, and my anxiety has virtually disappeared, I guess to normal levels. What we eat has a massive effect on our bodies.

Unless I’m making a rare French Toast (Loaf of fresh French Bread) Dave’s is the only bread in our home. My husband likes White Done Right and I like Good Seed. It’s more expensive but it never goes to waste.

I love Dave’s Killer Bread. I remember when it was first introduced and my grocery store had samples of a number of varieties. I like Good Seed and the Sprouted grain bread. It is expensive, but worth it to get a better quality and healthier option.

We grew wise to the ingredients in commercial bread years ago. We bake our own bread and rolls using only organic ingredients, and no seed oils. We haven't successfully made English muffins at home, so we buy Dave's.

Ezekiel bread was my favorite for years. I have Celiac and never had a problem till the company changed hands and the new owners added gluten to make the bread softer. I almost died because they don't put in bold writing any changes that are made. I would not have known what was causing me to go downhill if I didn't get into a conversation with an employee at the health food store I purchased Ezekiel bread from. Our food is dangerous if we don't make it ourselves. Sigh.

There is wall paper paste cereals. My wife called the company and they told her it’s in the cereals to stop it from getting mushy after adding the milk. It keeps the cereals crunchy.

Dave's Killer Bread is owned by Flower Foods, which is the same company that owns Wonder and Sunbeam bread. How can we know for sure if Dave's is healthy if the company is churning out these other brands?

Be careful! Sourdough bread purchased in stores is NOT sourdough bread. They add vinegar and/or acetic acid. The process to make true sourdough bread is very time consuming and requires a very good starter. Then the dough has to go through hours of bulk fermentation.

I’ve been eating Dave’s for years usually in the AM with eggs. The only time I eat white bread is when I have my classic childhood bologna sandwich a couple times a year.

Reading ingredient labels is wonderful when we have such good help and information. Pays to read ingredient lists on EVERYTHING no matter the cause. Mainstay emergency food ration bars have a very toxic ingredient list: "Enriched Wheat Flour, (Added Vitamins A, B-1, D, E, B-6, B-12, Niacin, Iron, Folic Acid, Magnesium, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Soybean Vegetable Shortening, Granulated Sugar, Corn Syrup, Corn Starch, Natural Lemon Flavor, Artificial Butter Flavor, Artificial Vanilla Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), DL-Alpha Tocopherol as a natural Antioxidant. (No BHA, BHT and TBHQ added)" Can't imagine putting that junk in my mouth, even in times of an emergency!

@@RealBigBadJohn I'd suggest making your own pemican where you can choose the ingredients you put into it, choosing organic and naturally raised products. What is commercially produced will never equal what people can make on their own. Another potential option would be making your own hardtack. For nutrition and staying power I would choose pemican though.

I am a trucker and learned I cannot eat DKB 21 Grain any longer due to the poppy seeds. I caught it on my own thank God. It can make a drug test come out positive. I am bummed I cannot have it anymore because there are times that is all I want. Other than Daves I quit bread. Bummed. 🤢

I have some Boudin sourdough bread I'm using right now. Ingredients: Organic wheat flower, water, sea salt, organic wheat gluten, enzymes (so five). I tried to count the ingredients in the Sunbeam, THIRTY FIVE. I've heard elsewhere (not nearly the informative deep dive here), but perhaps useful for us plain old civilians: if it's not in your cupboard, if you can't pronounce it, you don't want to buy it. Unbleached enriched flower (wheat flower, malted barley flower, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin, mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), water, high fructose corn syrup; contains 2% or less of each of the following: yeast, wheat gluten, salt, soybean oil, dough conditioners (contains one or more of: sodium stearoyl lactylate, calcium stearoyl lactylate, monoglycerides, mono- and diglycerides, distilled monoglycerides, calcium peroxide, calcium iodate, DATEM (diacetyl tartaric acid ester of mono- and diglycerides, also E472e, a dough conditioner), ethoxylated mono- and diglycerides, enzymes, ascorbic acid), soy flower, soy lecithin, monocalcium phosphate, calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, calcium propionate (To retard spoilage). Looks like a HARD PASS to me.

Dave's has a sprouted bread. When I eat it I don't feel like a rock in my stomach. As a matter of fact I don't even have a heavy feeling when I eat Dave's sprouted bread.❤ Finally I can eat bread.

Think of this….when I was little the store had a counter of day old bread. THAT is how long it should last before it starts to get stale. Now think how long those store bought brands take to go bad in your house! Think of all the chemicals they had to add to make it last that long. You need to reframe and think of these things as products, not real food! Eat real food not products.

Switching back to Dave's for sandwiches. We kind of stopped because they were more expensive, but gonna do it. For toast we like Heidelberg. Don't know if it's available nationally or just regionally. It's made in upstate NY. On the oat bran variety the ingredients are: unbleached unbromated flour, water, whole wheat flour, rolled oats, wheat bran, salt, contains less than 2%: cultured wheat flour, yeast. No sugar.

I had actually stopped eating bread a few months after our last hurricane. Somehow, a loaf of sunbeam bread had gotten shoved to the back room when we were cleaning out all the freezers and fridges from losing all our food due to no power. Fast forward 5 months later, cleaning up the back room (ya know, the room everyone throws the crap they dont know what to do with...) anyway, I find this loaf of bread and it looked exactly like the day I bought it. I decided not to feed that to my family anymore.

I went as far as grinding my own wheat grains and using minimum ingredients and very little sugars or oils. It’s better to use melted butter and not oil. At least you know when that’s bad. It’s a lot of work but I was trying to fight off gut problems and homemade loaves were good. All the stuff that’s in bread today in grocery stores isn’t bread as it was meant to be. Dave’s is good so are old fashioned old world bakeries but they are getting harder to find. If bread does not mold it’s not good. Thanks for your information. ❤️👍🏻💪🏻🖖🏻🐾🐾🐾

If these big manufacturers spend more money to produce unhealthy bread why is the healthy bread with less expensive ingredients more expensive? Less healthy = less cost to consumers. More healthy bread = more expensive to consumers. Makes sense, right. NOT.😡

I make my own bread. Its not fancy, but sourdough is a little less likely to spike insulin. It's nice to have just basic ingredients and more satisfying. Bread is still a carbfest, for sure.

Thanks for your video. I gave up bread almost a year ago. I had diabetes and to reclaim my health i went carnivore eliminating processed foods sugar bread and grains and veggies. Carnivore is eating eggs bacon meat burgers seafood and q little cheese. I lost the cravings for bread sugar and other processed foods. I lost weight reclaimed my health and have good energy. Now the bread lovers can have me portions of bread. Enjoy. I little bacon eggs and meat chicken cooked in real butter is yummy. My body absorbs it all for energy and thrn starts stripping thr fat cells for energy. It ls nice to keep losing my spare tire for energy. Enjoy your bread ill enjoy my animal fats and protein. One last comment ingredients in my food are few and completely natural eggs bacon meat burgers and a little steak and fish. Then I get rest while my body breaks it down for energy.

I noticed how different bread tasted years ago. I am 68 yrs old and remember when bread was sold at 1/2 price when it was a day old. Now the shelf life is a week or more. Tells me they started putting things in it that my body doesn't need.

I do intermittent fasting and I'm in good shape and very conscious of my blood sugar Etc I use Heidelberg bread, very few ingredients the regular white has three. But even the cracked corn or even the raisin bread have minimal ingredients and all recognizable. Curious if you've tried it.... plus it's only $5.29 a loaf with the recent increase from $5

i was sick all the time, out of the blue Id have to run to the bathroom. turns out its flour. I dont miss it at all now but I wanted to tell you, most all bread on the shelf is owned by Bimbo Bakeries, a Mexican company. they bought Thomas Bag, Oroweat, Sara Lee, Ball Park, you name it.

I went keto and reclaimed my health at 57. Now, however, I find I can keep the carbs under 100g/day and keep all my gains, so I eat a small amount of bread. I like Dave’s but I prefer the sprouted grain breads (in the freezer section). Yes, they are more expensive but I only eat less than two slices per day.

I have diabetes. I take 40 units of basaglar and 10 units of novolog before breakfast. For breakfast I have ONE SLICE of buttered toast. That’s all I can eat until lunch to stay within an acceptable blood glucose range.

Grains in general are shit because they block vitamins from absorbing. Replace your rice and oatmeal with quinoa, which is actually a seed even though its in the grain family

I’ve used Dave’ s Killer Bread for years. It seems like a good option. I like their Second Chance program for ex cons. Dave sold the company years ago but I think the new owners are in the spirit of doing good

The best serving size label is spray oil, i watch videos all the time with people using it because it is 0 calories and 0 fat. They never read the serving size! 1 can i had said 1/64th of a second. The basic can is 1/4 of a sec.

What about Ezekiel breads??? They are kinda dry but very dense. I toast it a little then put on my natural peanut butter and have a coffee to help swallow it but it does taste kinda ok 😜

Goto a thrift store. Find bread machine. Pay the 10 dollars and your problem is solved. I've been using a bread machine for so long that I barely remember what store bought bread tastes like. I like to set mine up with the timer so I come home from work to the smell of fresh baked bread. I have probably saved hundreds of dollars, maybe more over the years, and I have a much higher quality product. I can set up a loaf and be out the door in under 10 minutes!

Hi Dr. Livingood, I purchased your book and read the whole thing in two days. I really enjoyed it. Just have a quick question. I stopped eating ALL white breads. I started eating Dave's bread and found a local bakery that makes Sour Dough bread. The ingredients in the sour dough bread are as follows . . . salt, high gluten flour and sour dough starter. That's it! It cost the same amount as a loaf of Daves bread, about $5 per loaf. Is this sour dough bread okay to eat? Look forward to hearing back from you.

In some research I did a while ago, there was a segment on canola oil as to how it was a mixture of oils that were unhealthy for the body and should be avoided. If so, why isthis bread made with it?

I've been doing sourdough for a long time and some other organic breads. I refuse to eat fast food or anything not organic unless it's absolutely a no choice thing which so far so good.

I want and need carnivore bread. Cannot find it. And making it is incredibly expensive. From what I have noticed, it's about $15.00 a loaf.

We have something called Lewis bread here in Chicago area. As far as ingredients its really one of the worst, at another level of weird. As far as bread turning to sugar immediately, thats actually a feature of many breads, like dessert. Whole grain is the way to go, but sometimes you want that white bread. As far as Dave’s bread, its one of those breads that put seeds on the outside of the bread. For me i go for basic whole grain breads. Is is just cheating to press a bunch or the seeds into the crust to boost the fiber? Wdyt?
