In Part 1 of this video set we fished immediate follow-up to 2 anglers. We struggled, persevered, missed a few, caught a few nice rainbow trout. The next day, in this video, we take on a piece of water that had been fished the day before. But we lucked into deteriorating conditions and darkening skies and the rainbow trout starting hammering our dry flies. The day goes from average to incredible dry fly fishing by the end. It just goes to show, when fly fishing rainbow trout, you just have to have a go, their moods change with the weather. Join us as we offer some wonderful visuals in this videos as we dry fly fish for some solid rainbow trout in a gorgeous trout stream.
Have you been watching our videos on small to medium-sized trout streams and would love detailed information on how we are so successful - so you can enjoy fly fishing these streams and have great success? We share a ton of information in our email video course at our website. Sign up for your free course at www.jensenflyfishing.com/

Just watched the hopper video with the 5Lb rainbow and 7Lb brown steeling the fly from the bow. I've watched a lot of videos over the years and that had to be one of the best produced videos I've ever seen. From the filming and camera angles, to finding the the most perfect day and certainly the quality of the fish. It's just like it's supposed to be: On any given day, it's only flyfishing. Tight lines 🎣

it is only fishing and what we each get out of it is ours and nobody else's unless we share what and how we want to. So glad we had the camera going this day and that hopper day. For us the fly fishing wouldn't be the same without the camera - it's just so neat to capture trout behaviour and share :)

When you're sight fishing in clear water it's so true. Taking the time to scan everything is important. Fish can as easily disappear into the depths or under a rock shelf and then next thing you know there's 2 in the pool that previously had 1! Thanks again for stopping in to comment:)

Great to hear that you're finding our videos are helping you as an angler. It's one of our main focuses through our sharing. In our As It Happens video Series 3 we began using a different style of filming and in many of the videos this incorporates talk of the fly we're using, but this particular video you watched is from our As it Happens Series 2 where we filmed a lot in high frame rate and didn't use as much in camera discussion, whereas now we talk through a lot more of what we're doing through the use of a GoPro camera, so hopefully moving forward you'll keep finding the information you're looking for. All the best as you continue to discover and learn in your fly fishing life.

AJ made the coffee back at the van! :) Usually 12 to 18" between dries unless fishing small flies - then about 6 to 10". BUT, on flat water it gets dicey as you don't want too big of flies nor too close for fear of the SPLAT factor :)

I'm sorry folks, you are certainly entitled to turn your flyfishing into a supertechnical experience. I have been fly fishing for 60 years, and to analyze a situation like you folks would make me want to quit. Footprints dont bother me. Thats part of the game. The fun for me is to hit the river, rig up some combination bugs, and fish. I very rarely sight fish. The excitement is the surprise of catching a fish you couldnt see. It isnt that technical. Too many folks are making fishing far more than it is. Im there to relieve my brain not tax it. By the way, I have no problem catching fish. Nice video though.
@jensenflyfishing
@jensenflyfishing 3 жыл бұрын
That's completely accurate and true... in some regions. We're talking globally, of course. If you have a stream with 150 to 500 trout per mile then absolutely, go fishing and have fun. But sometimes we run into waters where there are literally 5 to 10 trout per mile due to habitat restrictions... and that's what this video is about. If you head out and fish follow up on that EXACT individual fish, now you have no choice but to be somewhat "technical", which is simply another word for considering how to overcome a spooky fish. We share our thoughts in the video because of exactly that - if we don't make those considerations and go in blind and bombastic without knowing where that fish is, we'd spook it and go home empty-handed in this situation. But that is the point of what we share on this channel - a lot of different situations and how to go at them. If all we did was head out, fish and show fish after fish, does that do anything for you? Our goal is to share a bunch of different scenarios and the how we do things. And by all rights, yes, reading then fishing the water is spot-on many locations, just not places like this one. Fishing's just fishing and we make it what we want it to be by going here or there and doing as is needed here or there and it often ain't technical... until you have to think this or that specific fish or spot through. That's really all this video is - a sequence of fish needing thinking through. All the best and hope your spring season goes well :)
