@@Kakascrot yes, his career took off faster than any other movie star’s career. Not even Tom Cruise’s career took off that fast! No other big actor had 3 hit movies in the same year all be number one at the box office when they were just starting out like Jim

His career most certainly did NOT take off faster than any other movie star's career. Literally anyone who became a star after their first movie had a career that took off faster than his.

A lot of the scenes in this version of the movie were edited for the theatrical cut. A few examples include Sea Bass spitting on the burger offscreen (it cuts to Lloyd's reaction instead), Harry and Lloyd's dialogue in the love hotel being cut down to only include the conversation about Fraida Felcher, and the truck stop bathroom scene being edited to make it look like Sea Bass is about to kill Lloyd rather than rape him.

I saw the original. They gave us comment cards and I wrote that I didn't understand why they didn't get something out of all this. When it was released they had added the bus at the end. Probably a lot of people wanted them to have a happy ending and the movie makers went nope they are to dumb. 😄

*1994. You should see Jeff Daniels in some serious roles. He's great in "The Lookout" and the HBO series "The Newsroom" among other films and TV shows. He was also nominated for a Tony Award for his Broadway portrayal of Atticus Finch from "To Kill a Mockingbird."

That leads to a bit of trivia: Jim Carrey requested they hire Jeff Daniels, the studio disagreed, so to appease him, they made Jeff a lowball offer thinking he'd turn it down and they could tell Jim "he turned us down". Surprisingly to them, Jeff accepted. 😆

@@marcpower4167 Jim wanted a true thespian and veteran actor to play against as he was still fairly new to his movie career. Jeff had been in other dramas in Hollywood and stage plays previously.

Bit of a correction, this movie came out in 1994, not 1984. Still, it’s a great movie from my childhood Don’t waste your time on the sequel, it does NOT live up to the original. The funniest part is the first 5 minutes with the catheter removal scene. After that, the movie is a waste of time

I'd love to see you guys react to the classic, Carrie from 1976. It was based on a book of the same name that was published 2 years before the movie was made. The book was written by Stephen King, and the movie was directed by Brian DePalma. The movie stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a high school senior who is teased by her classmates and abused by her crazy mother. What they don't know is that she has a hidden power. Telekinesis: the ability to move objects with your mind. The movie also has Piper Laurie as Margaret White, Nancy Allen as Christine Hargensen, Amy Irving as Susan Snell, William Katt as Tommy Ross, John Travolta as Billy Nolan, Betty Buckley as Miss Collins, PJ Soles as Norma Watson, Priscilla Pointer as Eleanor Snell, and Edie McClurg as Helen Shires.

Hey, the Loud Guys. I am sure you are getting plenty of suggestions for things to watch. I would suggest a TV show called Battlestar Galactica. The 2004 series, not the old 1978 one. It is 4 seasons, and in my opinion one of the most well made televisions shows ever produced. There is a 2 episode miniseries that isthe pilot before season one, and must be watched first as it provides all of the background. There is also another feature length "movie" called Razor that should be watched after Season 2, episode 17. From the beginning, the show continues to get better and better.

Great movie. The funniest Jim Carry movie. Other great Jim Carry movies are the Ace Ventora movies 1 and 2 and The Majistic which is not a comedy but a great underrated drama with Jim Carry. Another really funny movie like this us There is Something about Mary.

Stop saying “underrated.” That word is so ridiculously overused on KZfaq. The reason the Majestic didn’t get any credit was because it was a flop. The dramatic Jim Carrey movies that everybody loves is Truman Show, Man on the Moon and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. And no, There’s Something About Mary sucked… it was decent at best

There have been a few sequels to it; the best of them is "Dumb and Dumber To" (2014) IMHO. I didn't like "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd"; you can safely skip that one.
