David Morin here from Blue Star Nutraceuticals and today I’m taking you through an extra-special full body fat loss challenge that will burn fat, preserve muscle, and keep your metabolism firing long after your workout is over.
This unique technique we’re using here is called the “ladder method”. It involves ascending rep patterns and is used by professional athletes and physique competitors to stay in peak condition year-round.

This is the Dumbbell Devastation: Full Body Fat Loss Challenge Let’s get into it!
This workout has 4 exercises that will hit every major muscle group.
Do each exercise 10 times for a total of 10 sets.
Use 50% of your 1 Rep Max.
In the first set, do 1 rep for each exercise.
In the second set, 2 reps for each exercise.
In the third set, 3 reps for each exercise.
Follow this pattern all the way up to the tenth set where you’ll do 10 reps for each exercise.
Your goal is to finish in under 40 minutes without sacrificing good form.
Alright, here we go!
Exercise #1: Front Rack Squat & Press
Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your shoulders, brace the core, keep the knees out and perform a full depth squat going as deep as you can maintaining proper form - then explode up through the heels and drive the dumbbells into an overhead press, lower under control and repeat.
Exercise #2: Pushup & Renegade Row
Set up in push-up position on a pair of dumbbells about shoulder-width. Keep your body straight like a board, brace the core, lower down under control then explode up to the top. Once at the top, keep your body parallel with the floor, row one dumbbell up to your side without twisting your body - pull with your elbow, squeeze with your lat. Then lower and repeat on the other side. Lower down into a pushup and repeat for the given number of reps.
Exercise #3: Deadlift & Step Back Lunge
Keep your back straight, chest up, head in a neutral position - brace your core and lock everything in before you begin the movement, then pull the dumbbells up, keeping them as close to your shins as possible using your hamstrings, glutes and low back. Remember, the arms are just hooks along for the ride, don’t pull with your arms, unless you want to end up tearing a bicep!
Once at the top, keep the dumbbells at your sides and take a big step back so both legs bend at 90 degrees. Keep your back knee just off the ground then drive through the heel of your front leg using your glutes and hamstrings to the top. Alternate side to side performing all the required reps for each leg.
Exercise #4: Mixed Grip Carries (10 Feet Lengths)
Grab a pair of dumbbells, hold one down at your side and the other directly overhead, then go for a walk. Each 10 foot length equals 1 “rep” for this exercise. So by the 10th set you’re going to have to drive that sucker 100 feet! Alternate arm positions each length to evenly work both sides. Keep the core braced and keep those legs moving.

Tried it for the first time, took 42:17 mins to finish and have to drop weights from 28 pounds (12.5Kgs) to 16.5 pounds( 7.5 Kgs). Last set is a killer.

Generally, you should always maintain a straight/neutral spine. For some more experienced /advanced lifters though, rounding of the upper back, while maintaining neutral lower back positioning can be acceptable and safe - you will see this in many seasoned powerlifters for example. However best practice is simply to maintain a straight back with chest up and shoulders back 👌💪💯

I need some training inspiration, this is the first channel I come to. In may I dropped down to 6% body fat, felt fit and great doing some circuits that I devised. Now, I would like to get back to hypertrophy, put on some fat and muscle, get stronger and cut down in time for summer. Nice simple workout here 😀

Glad you like the video - for any single side exercise, you should perform the prescribed number of reps on each side. For example the renegade rows you should perform 10 reps with the right and 10 reps with left same goes for the lunges. Thanks for watching! 💪

I am going to try this. I’m 46 and hope this helps me. All my is family heavyset and most all overweight. I know if I have some weight to lose. My upper body is bigger than my lower body. Right now I weight 196. People don’t see me overweight because of that. I feel it though. I already ordered the 5 bottle deal of Blade. Will that do or do I need to add another supplement? I have a set of adjustable dumb bells, that I use to work out with now and have been looking at some of your videos. I have incorporated the abs work out as well. Any ideas? I just started doing my regular workouts about a week ago.

Is performing this exercise 3 to 4 times per week enough to loose fat and built muscles or I need to add some weight lifting. Thank you, great video.

It would definitely be enough to burn fat and build muscle. However you will want to switch up the workout after 4-8 weeks to provide a variety of stimulus to the muscles to avoid hitting a plateau.

Hey Matt! Glad you found the vid! This is okay for a standalone routine, however it's always good to switch things up so you're training muscles from different angles and not missing any body parts for even development. We've got plenty of dumbbell only workouts on our channel already. Give them a watch and incorporate a few or rotate through them for a more complete workout routine

Absolutely, although you get much better muscular endurance benefits going from 1 up to 10 because as you become more fatigued, you continue to do more and more work.

If you are consistent with what you do, it makes it much easier to learn if what you're doing is working or hindering your progress. Just make sure your calories aren't too low. The last thing you want is a rebound.

Just like it breaks down in the description and video: for set 1, you perform 1 rep of each of the exercises, then set 2, you perform 2 reps of each of the exercises, then continue on in that fashion until your 10th set where you perform 10 reps of each exercise. I'm guess the pushup/rows work your core? What about your biceps?

There's not any direct biceps exercises, but they will be engaged during all pulling and carrying exercises. This isn't meant to replace your entire workout routine, but will provide a solid workout for your whole body. 💪

Omggg I did it, I could only do the second exercise up until the 5-6 reps, I just couldn’t do more than that I gave up u til next time lol

Dont count calories, do extreme workout and u will loose weight in no time..

The amount of calories burned during the workout doesn't matter - it's the muscle you build and the calories you burn and eat afterwards that makes the difference in your physique. Keep training hard and eating well and you'll get to your goals! 👍

Doing in an ascending pattern like this builds the warm-up into the workout. If you start with 10, you would want to take 5-10 minutes to warm-up before.

Definitely. Start with what you can comfortably manage for each exercise and gradually aim to improve each week or each attempt of the workout. Age 43...height 57...down from 200 to 190...i do 350 push ups 350 seat ups and 350 20lb curls a week...i ride a mountain bike with a 30lb weight vest 35 miles a week...i sleep 8hrs a night easily...which BLUE STAR product would you advise...i can only digest 75g of protein a day...
