That Osborne system has real collector value. If you'd actually closed the drive latch, it might have booted up. The fact that it powers up at all probably makes it worth north of $1000

Osborne is a company that taught us how NOT to sell computers. What you have was selling somewhat well. But they announced next model and features too soon. People stopped buying, waiting for a new model. Because of dropped sales they couldn't get production of new model running and company went under. It's now known as Osborne Effect.

The item at about 11:40 is called a polaris connector, used to splice wires. They are made in all different wire sizes and configurations. Pricey things.

I used to do this as my main job in the UK, we had unlimited free household supplies and food for all those years and a business selling on all the stuff. There was so much we couldn't sell it fast enough and when we stopped it took 3 years to empty our store.

Also make sure you insert the floppy disc all the way in before pushing that black lever down on it. To remove disc just lift lever upward and remove disc.

That Osborne computer has to have a boot disk to boot up. A boot disk contains all the parameters to enable start-up. We used one for record/file keeping. Didn’t have much of a hard drive. Everything was stored on the 5 1/4” floppy.

That computer is probably worth a pretty penny to the right collector as well as that fire alarm equipment. SER safety tests and collects fire alarm equipment. Those pups are darling, glad you gave them a great home.

Those old CRT monitors have good copper in them. I usually just scrap them out on the spot real quick. There's HV in the CRT but can easily be done carefully.

Those old monitors in the open top have a pretty good amount of copper...you can get in & get it fast and easy. I never leave a CRT behind.

Some of my best finds are aways hidden deep in a trash can. I have found gold, silver, led police lights, Milwaukee 18V power tools, and my best find was a tobacco cigarette tin from 1885. Sold it for $875. My neribours found a bunch of like new Milwaukee power tools in a dumpster at a pawn shop.

Mike my husband used to carry one of those Osborne computers around all over. He can definitely show you how to work it if you are interested. He had a few different models. Bless You Two for rescuing/fostering these lovely ladies; you two are making their lives wonderful in their golden years. Humans can be so horrible to each other and to animals who depend on them for health, safety and love. But here you are saving these girls - who have been essentially an income stream - and probably not much more - from imminent death. Hey MIKE!!! Had to LAUGH OUT LOUD when you pulled that FLOPPY DISC out of the drive!!! .... Back in the day, (mid 70's) I worked for a company that MADE those floppy's!!! Even silkscreened graphics on the jackets for "custom applications".... too funny!!! Thanks for keeping the recyclables out of the landfills!!! Keep on pickin' & scrappin'.....🙏❤🙏

the University I went to had those type of computers ,when you put in the floppy disc you have to push down the thing you thought was a injection button down it locks in the floppy disc

I remember those floppy discs! That’s a cool old computer! My mom sold our old apple IIGS at a garage sale years ago for $12 I bet it’s worth lots more with original games like Oregon trail, Winter Olympics games like that! Glad you had a better scrap run!

8:40 that's a Dell Thunderbolt laptop docking station - worth about $150 on eBay. 20:25 that's an Osborne 1 - very cool, vintage CP/M computer. Worth $200 or so on eBay. You can absolutely sell this - should be an easy sale. Lots of vintage collectors of these things. Cool finds!

Hey mike i noticed you been passing up crt monitors. There is about a 2 to 3 lbs of number one copper on the back of the crt easy acess with hammer and wire cutter knock the back off break back of tube cut the attaching wires less than a min free copper

Keep those old monitors there's plenty of copper in the Focus and deflection coils around the neck of the tube!!! Probably as much copper as that motor you picked up at 23:11.....

There is a lot of copper in computer monitors and old CRT tv because of the copper yoke around the tube.

You could also take the buckets off and fill them inside the dumpster with small items. Great thinking on mounting them.

Mike, I don't know why I'm drawn to your channel but it's my favorite. I don't watch any other scrappers (I have tried) and I am not a scrapper myself. Maybe its your positivity. so keep doing what you are doing so many of us love it. Love that you are fostering older dogs. It seems they had a rough life. People can be so cruel and unfeeling.

I been doing this for about 5 months, I have found 100 year old antiques fairly regularly too.

Them old school monitors have loads of copper in which is quick and easy to get out if you have a screwdriver. Takes about two minutes to remove it so you don't have to take them with you. Probably worth more in scrap than the flat screens. There's a great channel on KZfaq called e waste Ben who strips electronics down for scrap. He does curbside scavenging and he shows you how easy it is to get the copper out and does it on the side of the road and leaves the rest because of the space and plastic which is a bummer to get rid of. It's definitely worth your two minutes for $5+ of copper.

The 2 Siemens objects you found in the first dumpster are damper actuators that are used in HVAC ducts. Used to open and close dampers to control airflow or restrict the flow of smoke and or fire if there should be a fire.

I noticed when you pull up next to something on the curb (even when you can) you do not pull up all the way to where the back of your Tail Bed would be even with the items. I feel if you did you would save about 15 to 20 steps every stop! lol. Just trying to help my favorite (and only) KZfaq scapper. ;-)
