I was very skeptical of this effort, knowing of the departires and licenses the makers of this series ahve been making in its development - but this trailer gives us a tantalizing glimpse into a potentially epic series! I'm getting Foundation vibes! I look forward to watching this series!

Writer/showrunner is Alison Schapker but Brian and Kevin have been listed as producers (not sure that remains the case). If any of the episodes are written by those two the series will be terrible.

Indeed. Martin was inspired by Herbert so there will be some common themes. There's even a character called Salim WormRider, in the verse. Makes me think of the targarians

Incredible!! I wish they had been able (or had actively sought) Lena Heady. My only critique is that there seems to be no evolution in the BG's costumes. If this is occurring 10,000 years BEFORE Paul, there would have been some variance. All we need do is look at the evolution of religious costumes, or even the history of our own mundane fashion to understand the perimeters of what would be "real". Otherwise, I'm super excited.

Prequel based on works written prior to the Dune most know. The complete Dune saga is an extremely rich and this series is one of what could be many if there is the will and resources available. Another way to look at this, is its like HOTD to GOT, Prophecy fleshes out some of the back story that was hinted at in the Dune movies.

This seems like it has potential, just hope they didn't waste all of Brian Herbert's lore for the Bene Gesserit and make this a "YAS QUEEN WOMAN WARRIOR" show. Having something like this could honestly be MAX's sci-fi answer to Game of Thrones, because outside of the core novels, Dune is just 100% politics and power plays.

Did somebody forget that Dune is set in the year 10,191? Paul is meant to be 15, so 10,000 years before his birth would make this the year 176. Why are there spaceships flying around and where are all the Romans?

Because the 10,191 in Dune is not AD, but AC - After the Battle of Corrino and the end of the Butlerian Jihad. In Terran years, the movies take place closer to 13,191.

10,000 years?! Why not 1,000 or 100. Ten millenia seems like an awful long time to set this in. Plus were there no changes or advances/evolution in technology, architecture, fashion etc. in 10,000 years? Me thinks this smells like an awful lot like a bunch of crap. PS Remember all the production problems, cast changes and the departures of directors, show runners etc. At six episodes...will this be a full fledged series or a miniseries?

Mmmmmm. Considering how much the current movies have diverged from the source material, (Jessica was completely opposite to the book and Chani was not even Chani!), I fear they will portray the Bene Gesserit as "THE BESTEST GIRL BOSSES EVARRR!" and "YASSS, YOU SLAY, QUEENS!". Just read the Frank Herbert sextet. F@ck this sh!t, I just watched Season 4 of DanMachi and it was fantastic. Anime and Manga is about the only thing worth my time, these days.

Dune has been boring. Somehow it turned into an angsty YA romance with the ChaniXPaul angle. The prophecy thing wasnt much of an interesting plot line here since Paul for almost the whole movie was more obsessed with his girlfriend than the worldbuilding politics. This just looks like it's trying to fill in a GOT void. I know it's a prequel but this Dune creative team follows trends too much
