One of my favorite disarming and fantastically crafted Cinematic Achievements. Highly underrated with a glossy cellphone technicolor that is unsurpassed. Excellent Commentary and Video Production. Thank's for this. !!! 🟧🟥🟥🟥🔳⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️👁 °•○▪︎.....✨️

One of my all time favorite films - Gorgeous, perverse, fascinating, stratospheric high camp, outrageous Tierney is amazing and unforgettable as one of the truly most incredible film noir sociopaths Is there anything like that murder/ drowning in the dazzling sunlight - have heart shaped dark glasses ever been as disturbing? Its even crazily homoerotic - one of my absolute cherished, (possibly) unintentional gay moments is that awesome moment when Cornel Wilde's doomed brother wakes from slumber luxuriously murmuring "Dick...Dick..." All this and Vincent Price too! The recent Criterion blu ray is stunning So glad you celebrate it with this great video

Thank you for that video. I had often thought of the correlation between Leave Her to Heaven and Tierney’s life I love that Martin Scorsese calls her the most underrated Hollywood actress of the Golden Era he’s written a couple of articles on her. I would watch Gene Tierney films with my mother on the 430 movie. I was maybe six or seven and it was around 1967 i’ve been a fan my whole life. I appreciate you making this KZfaq video. Have you read Will Scheibel a professor of English at Syracuse University, where he teaches film and screen studies author of a wonderful book. Gene Tierney Star of Hollywood Homefront. Gene Tierney's encounter with the fan suffering secretly from German measles inspired Agatha Christie's Miss Marple mystery The Mirror Crack'd. Check out either its 1980 screen adaptation, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Kim Novak, or either of its two English TV versions and you'll see what I mean. One of Christie's most brilliant twist endings!!

I came across this while doing research! Very interesting that Christie's estate mentions it was "inspired" by real events...

@@DustinReckling Plus the gorgeous Technicolor makes it unique among 1940s film noirs.

Really enjoyed this, many thanks. I knew about Gene Tierney's struggles with her mental health, but didn't realise this began so early in her life and career. Lovely to see her share the sofa with her co-star, Cornel Wilde in one of the later clips. Apart from being a great movie, the prints of Leave Her To Heaven are so pristine, the colour is absolutely magnificent.

Thank you for watching! This is one of the most beautiful, and beautifully morbid, films I've ever seen. Won an Oscar for cinematography, I believe, and well deserved.

Excellent video. You introduced me to an actress who I knew in name only and a movie. You also did a good job empathetically speaking on mental illness.

She's an artist I respect very deeply after doing this research. Underrated, beautiful, and empowering for sure!

Two great broads who could never be matched by todays’s limited talent. If she was given one-half a chance, Justine Miceli could have said it all with her deep, dark sensual pools we refer to as eyes. The most overlooked and under utilized actress of modern day screen and television. Such a beauty.

Dustin: I get where your coming from, and "Leave Her To Heaven" is a compelling and disturbing film on several levels-- BUT-- I have no sympathy for the character of Ellen, who "loves too much." What can you say about a woman who says, "Oh, you can swim out a little farther, Danny", and sits perfectly still and watches him drown? Of course, she jumps in when she's aware Richard is watching. The character of Ellen is a narcissistic sociopath, clear and simple. There is no psychological justification for watching somebody drown. Of course, I have a disability and nearly drowned many years ago in a crowded swimming pool (All true!) so it might be a little too close to home. BRAVO to actress Gene Tierney for speaking out about mental illness in those early days on "The Merv Griffin Show" and "The Mike Douglas Show", when frightening personal struggles were not public knowledge. Your own compassion shines through in this video and speaks volumes about you as a person. "Leave Her To Heaven" is really "Fatal Attraction": 1945"; long before the term and the film became a pop-culture catch-all phrase for any type of disturbing relationship or insanity. If you've seen "FATAL ATTRACTION" (1987), you will understand my comparison.
