In this video my team and I review and demonstrate the brand new Dyson Airwrap hair tool. It is a very unique hair tool and as a hairstylist, I wanted to put this to the test to see it is worth the hefty price tag and if it is worth the hype. The airwrap isn't designed for professionals stylists, but rather general consumers.

I appreciate that you tried it out multiple ways, multiple times, and even on multiple heads! It seems like a lot of reviews I watched tried it for like 5 mins without reading directions and then gave up and said it was terrible. Even as a professional every tool has a learning curve, so others expecting to be perfect with it the very first use and then condemning it because it's not was silly to me. So thanks for being more thorough! I'd love to see you use it to try and straighten curly hair and maybe do the whole head from wet like you talked about once you've had a chance to play with it more.

Thank youuuuu! I’ve gotten plenty of hater comments here but I appreciate you acknowledging our efforts. Many girls did paid sponsorships and basically all were saying the same thing but of course as an actual stylist who has a different perspective and presentation I’m not getting anything and I even bought it out of pocket lol.

@TheSalonGuy is this easier on your arm and wrist? Im hair stylist and been dealing with wrist pain and any tip on any product to reduce that would be amazing? Anything to add after more than a year of using the airwrap?

This is the point of view i was actually searching for, from someone used to do the bouncing movement, and so far I think it’s the most accurate video. I would love to see more interaction with the other tools though, and maybe using it more as a full volume look, or straight hair, and further thoughts after a year with it. It’s a big investment and even after a year price has not gone down so, it would be great to see if it is actually worthy within time.

I think you did a fabulous job trying it out for the first time!! I have it and have used it several times, it’s a bit tricky - it’ll def give you lots of volume!! I love mine because it saves me time and my hair feels a lot softer then when I use tradition curling tools. I appreciate you making such an honest video from a hair dressers point of view. I also am guilty of moving it up and down to smooth the hair out a bit more- I think it’s actually a great tip for a more relaxed curl!

Do you feel you still need the original blow dryer also or that this replaces your need for it? Just don’t want to end up buying both over time if I don’t need to lol. Of course dyson videos say the dryer attachment isn’t like the regular blow dryer but they are trying to see more products so they would be foolish to say that you don’t need both hahaha!!

Robin Howell - I actually do not use my regular Dyson blow dryer at all anymore. In my opinion they both work about the same. the regular one comes with diffuser and concentrators - if you tend to use those you may want to buy one. If u just use the dryer to “rough dry” then I would not get it. I hope that helps.

You do not need to keep moving the wand back and forth. You don't connect the wand to mud shaft. Attract the shady to the ends the move forward the scalp. If you want a wave instead of a curl, use it like you would a wand by holding the ends or instead of locking them in.

If the air wrap works as well as I hope it does then it sort of makes the Dyson hair dryer almost pointless because the air wrap can both dry and style the hair even if it is more expensive.

Grace Kean this is exactly what I thought but your wrong. Because the dryer on this airwrap I got, Is only a rough dryer. It has no attachments to smooth the hair like the dyson supersonic dryer has and the latter is way more powerful. I have them both ❤️ x

Hello, great video! I’ve notice that there is better success when you hold the hair with about 4 inches under your grip and the put the dyson on the loose hair and let it do it’s thing.

a tip i learned from the dyson counter at one of the stores near me is to pinch the hair about 6 inches up and let the bottom bit grab onto the barrel and then twist up (it’s probably what everyone is doing i just found it made it way easier as it allowed me to have more control!)

Thank you!!! I had been wanting to see a video from a professional. A lot I have seen were just general use and they were mostly negative, but a cosmetologist should have a better working understanding as to how this is to be used and if it’s a good tool or not. So with that being said, I really appreciate you doing this video!! ☺️ and now, I want to buy one hahahahaha!!! I’m wondering if they have a licensed pro discount like with the blow dryer?

Hiiii n thx so much! I was told by Dyson this is a consumer tool not professionals but it can be used by pros. When I questioned why I was getting so many targeted ads on social if it’s for consumers all I got was dead silence. Regardless it’s helpful for me in a number of ways as a stylist.

TheSalonGuy I’m a cosmetologist as well, I don’t know if I would use this a lot for clients or not, but it’s nice when we’re able to buy stuff for less by getting to use our license, bc we can’t tell how we will like something till we try it out. Maybe when you asked and didn’t get a response it was bc they’re working on putting one out that is intended for salon use, like they did with the dryer? At least we can cross our fingers & hope that’s why hahahah!!

This is actually a great review by a pro for this airwrap. You tried it until you saw how it can be done nicely and you gave it a chance. You were quite objective and said you would have finished earlier , but you mentioned that it makes the hair really nice which is nice to know by a pro. Yes its expensive but as you said its more for a person who is not lets say hair savvy and i truly believe its quite nice as you get a quality product for 6. Thank you for this ! Edited the text as mistakes was making my eyes bleed.

I had mine for 6 weeks (could return within 8 weeks) and I read and reread the instructions....IT DOES NOT WORK! The round brush broke my hair and got tangled, the curls came out within 2 hours after spending ages doing them, the rollers take forever to cool down. Nope, I don’t have the time and sent it back. There’s lots of second hand ones on Amazon. Do some searching and you’ll wonder why lots of people are selling theirs “like new.”

Wow! Maybe every hair is different. I have mine for two weeks and for my hair works wonderful. I have a lot hair and long, takes me about 40 min for the whole process and I use hair spray after, the curls last all day. Next day I have to redo some of them but it’s still nice. I love my new Dyson 💕

For that pricetag it should do a better job, you shouldnt have to go to extreme lengths to do a technique just for it to work. Most products under $100 do a better job for less. I would not recommend anyone spend such a foolish amount of money for something so basic
