My wife was complaining about the hover not performing as well as it should. After some investigation I found a blockage by removing a fitting on the hover and checking a flexible connector. This may be the answer to your issue too.

Good job Russel. Followed your instructions then low and behold, found the exact problems to the suction loss. Told the wife I had spent many hours diagnosing the electrical fault and many more hours repairing it. Now she can get back to vacuuming the floor while I sit back with a beer watching her cleaning the house. Good job Russel.

I rang Dyson as troubleshooting each section did not fix the issue of low suction and the motor getting hot. After a multitude of same questions they decided I would need an engineer to look at it for £100. I decide to look on here and found a guy whose 30min long video did not solve my issue. I nearly scrolled past yours as a 3m video wasn’t going to fix my issue. Right? Or could it? I clicked, watched and it worked! Exactly the same issue! I owe you a huge thank you for fixing it and saving me a fortune for a new one. The culprit in mine? A cap from a hair/beauty product wedged sideways, dog hair, werthers wrappers and plastic tablet packet! Thank you again 😁

Yes, this is a bad design. So many things hang up ion there. Also, with pet hair, it gets trapped right in the tank where the air is sucked in...it is not a good design. I spend so much time on DISASSEMBLY

+Tami Fraley It is almost as if it has been designed to clog slowly. I wonder how many new machines have been bought by people who have had the same problem and not checked the vacuum for blockages.
@tamifraley300

For me, if I do not empty each time, the dogs hair collect right at the joint where the tube goes in the cylinder. Then if I get bigger things they all clog in that place in you video. I have cursed at that vacuum for over six years! I really do not like it.
@Dinumeration
@Dinumeration 5 жыл бұрын
I bought it and around the 6th time I use it, it completely stopped suctioning. I can hear the engine and all so I know isn't dead but this was the only vacuum out of 8 that I have (other brands ) that stop working & so quickly! The other vacuums keep working perfect but this one was a disappointment. This Dyson was used in a small room for a very light type of work (just to retouch the rugs & not used to pick up big mess or anything like that). It was brand new so as I check everything (the tubes, filters, etc) they were clear. I'm thinking that the problem might be coming from the inside of the unit.

Thanks to this video my Dyson CD39 is as good as new again. I had a large wood fragment lodged in that section that caused a severe plug with hair from my dogs. Without removing the top of the flexible tubing everything looked fine. But as soon as I popped it off -- voila! Thank you so much!

THANK YOU!!!!! I just moved and I guess when my daughter was cleaning my old house to sell the vacuim picked up an entire clear top that goes over pump spray bottles. Weird. I cannot believe it worked at all after that. In that house the elecrical was a mess. Old wiring and they criss crossed and went wherever and popped circuits constantly. So we assumed it kept turning off every ten seconds because of that. Well it did it again today in my new place and your video helped me find the problem and SOLVE it! Very expensive vacuum to have to worry about repairing or replacing!! Thank you and thank you to KZfaq for eliminating so many problems for me through smart KZfaqrs like this!

I did the same fix on a Dyson DC54. It worked a treat. The pipe was almost completely blocked. Somone had vacummed up a pencil. All the other crap had built up around it so that it barely sucked. Now its working like a charm. I have to say that when you said it was difficult to pull the gromit off you were not wrong! I just could not get it off at all. In the end I had an otoscope (I connect it to my Mobile phone so I can check the kids ears for infections. Then I can send pictures to the GP who can pescribe antibiotics and what not - really useful when you cant see a GP face to face) that I used to check the pipe. I saw it was blocked and knew I just had to get that damn gromit off. Used a screwdriver in the end and it worked - luckily with no damage to anything. Thanks again Russell - you are a Star!

Great advice - thank you!. I managed to clear the blockage on my machine without having to prise off the connector by pushing through a stiff piece of electric flex at the top end (from an old power lead) and using a long screwdriver at the other end to pull it out at the other end . Dysons are very good but do have their weak points and even emptying this model is a pain.

Thank you so much, Russell. Scrubbed everything else and even used a wire in the area you worked on and not a spec of dust came out. However, as soon as I unscrewed that top plastic part and then yanked the rubber piece off, I could see a huge lump wrapped around a small piece of wood. Was just about to buy another vacuum, so fair play to you!

Russell! You, sir, are my new best friend! I had this same suction problem with our DC39. I watched close to a half dozen videos which either did nothing too imaginative, simply doing routine cleaning of the dustbin or went to the other end of the extreme, disassembling everything, including the motor. 🤯 Your video here was the only one that showed disassembly of this little piece and that was EXACTLY where my clog had occurred. No chocolate bar in my case but a big wad of cat hair and a tube of lib balm. THANK YOU! THANK YOU for posting this video. Now go have a 🍺 pint, you genius.

Thank you sooo much!! I was worried about tearing the hose bit (that connects to the cylinder), as it did not 'look like' it could come off, thank you for illustrating that this could actually be done. I couldn't find any videos on the Dyson site that covered the 'cylinder/Ball/DC' particular type model. Much appreciated!

Thanks Russell you just saved us and it seems like hundreds of other people from throwing out a perfectly working vacuum! The rubber seal takes quite a bit of jiggling to get off, I didn't believe it would come off until it did.

I disassembled my Dc33 and thought it's because of a dysfunctional motor. Was about to get a new motor until I saw your video. Turned out, the dyson sucked in a bottle cap of a small disinfectant spray bottle. Thanks for your video to get it fixed !
