Dyson V11 - How to clean the filter

The video shows how to best clean the filter of your Dyson V11 with tap water. The Dyson V11 is the top model of the Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners.
1. Turn the filter holder counterclockwise. 2. Slide out the filter from the handle. 3. Knock off the most giant pieces of collected dust. 4. Rinse the entire filter in lukewarm warm tap water. 5. Let it dry overnight until dry inside. 6. Mount back by turning counterclockwise.
Good luck! It's a straightforward job.
FYI: I seldom recommend people to purchase things, and the whole point of this video is 'do-it-yourself.' In this case, I admit that I bought a spare set of 2 filters for 20 dollars because it allows me to finish my vacuum cleaning without having to wait 24 hours for the wet filter to dry.

I have a suggestion. I know I"m a bit late. But I use a second vacuum, and I put a brush attachment on it. I then vacuum the filter with that, getting all the large things off. Then, I run it under the water. It works great, and I don't have to touch the dirt :D I do put the vacuum on low power setting so I do not damage the filter.

This guy Forgot to say the most important part, you do not put a wet filter back on let it dry for 24 hours minimum then shake the filter if you still see excess water let it dry longer. Never put a wet filter on this will only cause bad smells down the track

If you are careful you can remove the lower filter from the main body to give a more in depth clean. It is held in place with 2 clips, so carefully locate them and use light pressur from a large flat screwdriver to prize the the clips apart. You need a bit of common sense and a feel of when something may break. If you don't possess both of these requirements then stick to the standard wash.

Ah man I can't find any pictures or videos of how to seperate the purple housing from the filters, any tips on where I should be looking out for? Is it the two long pieces that's hanging on one end only?

I think a powerful air blower is more effective. If dust gets wet, it just goes into a soggy mush, harder to remove in my opinion

You can give some water in a bowl or small bucket and wash the filter their.

Don't put you hepa filter back in wet. You will have to get it repaired. FYI. Get a second filter instead.

Our dyson v8 doesn't have filter..I don't know f the service guy removed it,,,n I found out only when it wasn't working properly.do u think, it was d reason why it didn't work properly??? Thanks fbu could answer my question

If you accidentally got water in there, it could be a more extensive problem. I would remove the battery and let it dry for 48 hours before doing anything. Sorry

I've looked at your comment and the only seal that I can see is possibly problematic and frequently replaced is the ‘dust bin top sealing ring’. Google it and you see which one I mean but I think first you best just take apart and reassembly all of it.

It's the hinges, let it sit if some dirt is working as glue, and dry it out. Then remember to do firm anti-clockwise and it should slide right off. There are no obstacles or similar in the way.

The user manual says the canister should be wiped with a wet cloth. Perhaps there's a reason behind that but they don't explain it further. The bin has a lot of seals and small hatches, sharp corners,etc. Perhaps water droplets can get stuck in some places where they can't evaporate in 24 hours and then the humidity may potentially damage the motor. Just guessing here, I may be wrong.
