I try out a combination of V1 E Revo pushrods, spacers, and RPM rod ends. This was suggested to me by several people.

I have watched countless videos about this and seen all kinda of ideas for stopping the push rod ends from pulling off. I have really studied all the crash footage and the physics involved in each one. I personally own an E-Revo VXL and had the same issue for the first 2-3 weeks. Following a hard crash, the rod ends kept pulling loose and once they pull off, the threads in the plastic are DONE and it's just that much more prone to failure. However, After just buying new rods with pre-installed ends straight from Traxxas, I have not had a single failure since. And I know why... I learned how to control my vehicle and don't crash it like that anymore.

Learning to land is part of it, but we cant all have perfect landings all the time. I really think I have only stripped out one push rod since I got this thing. Maybe two? I dont remember. I know it doesnt happen to me often at all.

@Butternut Squanch Then you're crashing the hell out of it. I've had mine on construction dirt piles and skate parks with several less-than-perfect landings and the only time the rod ends (or anything for that matter) broke is the first day I had it when I cartwheeled it at about 30mph. Once those rod ends pulled through, they never held up again. After replacing them, they have not had an issue. I don't bash too extremely (shit's going to break when you do), but I put it through it's paces. The truck has held up nicely for me. The stock tires are really trash though. They don't take long to start shredding from the g-forces.

@@Shadows-RC very goody goody for me. A year later and STILL no more pulled rod ends. Even after several hard crashes and bad landing. Soooooo, I guess I'll keep defending "crap parts" that work. I still stand by fact that these models are going to stand up to their intended usage. Bashing is called bashing for a reason. If you put your RC through rough treatment and abuse, things ARE going to break. It's just the way it is. You can't fault the manufacturer for not designing the RC for extreme abuse.

I know this is an old video. I have had the stock rods in since day one, and mine are fine. At least you tried them. Sometimes I buy something ,thinking it will work and find out like you did. Then the extra parts float around in my parts bin forever. Anyone need some spare parts? Lol. It was a good video, well done.

Well sorry you didn't solved it yet, but thank you for sharing. This was actually very useful as I was also wondering how to improve the shock rod ends (not exactly the push rods, stock are working good enough for my use), and I was skeptical about RPM stuff. Saw a lot of people praising RPM, mostly the A arms and axle carriers, and then popping out axles or ball ends all day long. Well this puts the final word on it I guess. So I bit the bullet and ordered some metal rod ends for the shocks. I know you don't like the idea because you are worried to snap the shock shaft (which is a pain), but I hope I don't run mine hard enough :)

I put new rod ends back on the stock rods using Gorilla Glue. Have not bashed it hard yet. Traxxas is sending me a new push rod. The bottom left threads feel very shallow compared to the right rod. The left rod is the only one that has pulled out yet. Even after a new rod end. This is what made me feel the threads. Hopefully the new rod's threads are better.

Hello love your videos hope to see your channel grow more! I ended up selling my erevo 2.0 on eBay but I love the truck but the little issues I kept having I just couldn’t stand it anymore. I plan to preorder the rustler 4x4 vxl. I feel like the running costs of that truck will be lower for me also which is nice. I will say I own a proline pro mt 4x4 and that little thing is a tank once you upgrade a few things. The only problem I’ve had was a stripped servo horn which was plastic and the infamous pillow ball nuts backing out. I loctited them in and installed rc8t wheel hexes and the truck is quite cool now. The little thing can take some big air and hits. Cheers 🍻🇨🇦👍.

I've tried everything these blue rod ends will flex and the little balls on the end that the screw goes through that area will become larger in diameter because of the actual bending of this particular part because of the softness of the material that you will have to replace it----- yes it does hold up but you will notice it will start to have a curvature after jumping it repeatedly. In all honesty by brand new rod ends from Traxxas take off the ones that are pressed on from the factory not threaded on which is why they strip out and then go to your local hobby store and buy JB Weld make sure to add just a little bit more hardener to the mix stick some down in there a very little bit not too much tighten it until it stops you will never have a rod end pull out on you again trust me. I jump my truck all day 15 to 16 feet up in the air in about 30 to 50 feet away yes I might be landing the truck the way it supposed to be but I have had some bad landings and I have not had one of these pull out or break on me with the JB weld.

Nice test of the rod ends that I see everyone mention. I know how it feels to listen to folks on the internet. Just like you do, I even research to make sure and still spend lots of money to find out it doesn't always work out. At which point, I'm coming to realize that maybe the truck as a whole is a problem. With all due respect, I'm looking to show more loyalty to Arrma. My E-Revo 2 has been pretty fun but too much bench time and not enough drive time. Just my opinion and where I stand now with all the repairs I'm having to finance. And I really don't jump it as much as you do. It has become the old law of diminishing returns for me. I purchased a Talion recently and have plans to sell the ER-2 to replace with an additional / comparable Arrma truck.

I just thought of something else. I'm not sure myself and want to check if it works myself. Maybe flip the a-arms making the left work on the right and relocate the push rods to in front of the a-arms rather than the rear. Would be a weird setup if someone could figure out how to make that work, but may prevent blown out rod ends. More than likely way more involved than it sounds, cause even the rockers would have to be reversed, as well as the shocks, etc etc etc.
@SebastianLong
@SebastianLong 5 жыл бұрын
What it looks like it's coming down to is fabricating your own rods. I think maybe two solid rods linked together in the middle with a "fuseable" link might work for ya. Who knows though. I'm sure you will figure out something. What it comes down to is the rod ends need more thread engagement, but enough that it doesn't make something else the "fuse" that might be more expensive. The other thing that might work is figuring out how to put two rods in the same location. Either way, you'll figure it out. Have a great one.

I really want to buy this e revo but the tie rods failing bothers me. I'm upgrading finally from a S-Maxx nitro. I'm never going to do crazy jumps like you do. I do donuts and drive fast on rock/dirt and full throttle on asphalt. Also want to get the extra parts to take it to the 70mph mark.Is the e revo a good fit for my driving type?
@outsourcedrc

Yes. The E Revo does great with that driving style. I'd still put the limiting straps on it though. The drive train is so solid on this RC. Its so much stronger than the V1.

Wouldn’t it be nice if some sort of pin to go through the rod ends to keep them from pulling off,,,of course it might compromise the strength of the rod,,,but the rod end shafts could be beefed up as well.....I’m going to brainstorm this theory....tazzzz

Learn how to jump and land your truck the correct way.. Try to land on all 4 wheels off the throttle and see how few parts you break. I have never had a rod end pull off ever. I have bent many push rods but never pulled the ends off. So far the only things i have broken are the soft turn buckle toe links and 1 front A arm and 1 rear A arm. To fix the toe link issue i remove the rod ends from the new 5.0mm toe links and temper them. Heatting them to an orange color then quenching them oil. Havent broken or bent a single one. The best advice i have for you is work on landing the truck on its wheels

is not the landing that's braking the rod ends its after it when it jumps the truck goes up but leaving the tire where it is trying to pull the tire down more than the rods can go making it pull out of the rod ends not u can fix that by installing limiting straps but i have not bothered with mine how ever i am currently using these they are stronger but they wont fix it from the large crashes but hay if u land it on all 4 not 1 tire like you do often then u will have all 4 shocks taking the impact not one shock doing everything. hobbiesdirect.com.au/GPM-Stainless-Steel-E-Revo-2.0-Complete-Turnbuckle-Set-8Pcs-ER2160S-OC-BEBK

I think your ramps are too short with a sharp curve. For the erevo to send properly you need a longer ramp with slightly less curve. The erevo should launch more evenly and have less preload from the takeoff. I know this because I jump 30 foot tabletop jumps on my mountain bike. The physics are similar and if you watch videos where these rc truggies really send you’ll notice the ramps are much longer. I used to also jump ramps on my skateboard. Try it out. Love your vids though.

Try dry spaghetti with titanium rod ends. That would be sure to work..... All jokes aside, it seems you need to learn to land. No offense but you are going for big air then letting "Jesus Take the Wheel" and you end up landing all stupid. I don't know of any RC made beside my old Super Hornet that could take a hit like that.

Have you seen my other videos? I've beaten the crap out of this thing. Also, I wasnt trying to land all soft and perfect. The stock rod ends work fine if you never crash. To really test something like this, you need to have some landings that are not perfect. I actually had the stock rod ends last like 2 months of jumps way bigger than this with way worst crashes. My goal is to find push rods that survive crashes. So far, the stock ends have worked the best.
