Does the RK24 tractor have the necessary power to operate an aftermarket grapple bucket? Hopefully you can make that decision for yourself after comparing this video to your needs and expectations of my setup. For me, yes it works and I'm going to get a lot of use out of it because I have the weight of the backhoe to counterweight the 450 lb. grapple bucket. I've tried it without the backhoe on and it feels very unstable. Please keep that in mind if you're considering one of these. I'm very pleased with how much this thing can grab and how much weight this little tank of a tractor can lift.
Here's a link to where I got mine:

Jon, I know that this is an older video but I hope that you'll see my comment. You need to get a quick hitch. Harbor Freight and Rural King both have them for around $100. Maybe less with a coupon. They are worth their weight in gold. I've mentioned this in another one of your videos but it will make your life so much easier. The Category 1 implements aren't all quick hitch compatible but you can get extended pins and Rural King carries the adapters for the draw pins. You might need to work with the top link a little or fabricate an easier way to hook up the top link but in the long run it will save you hours of work putting on and taking off implements. I'm 71 years old and it's a life saver. 😊 I love you guys videos and I'm starting to catch up watching them. Keep up the great work.

Thanks John! I actually looked them up the other day after seeing your comment. Then, knowing me, got distracted and forgot to come back and say thanks. Right now, I only have a box blade and a trailer hitch, but I do think a yard rake might be in my near future. A bush hog would be nice too. Probably spend the hundred bucks at that point when I have a few more implements to go on back there. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sure it'll make things a lot easier!

Or pats easy system. It works on everything, especially if you buy any older used equipment that a quick hitch won't work on

@@chaseledbetter5186 I agree, but the difference in cost is prohibitive for some people. Especially someone on a fixed income. I'm just saying that the Harbor Freight Quick Hitch worked great in my case.

@johngersna3263 I inherited a bunch of old implements so my quick hitch won't work with them. I need to sell it. It's a speeco so doesn't require bushings. The pats system was only like 129 and works with everything new and old. I think it's more cost efficient just bc I can't afford new implements that work with the quick hitch. I agree the quick hitch is easier though. If all your implements are new and work with it, you don't have to get off the tractor. Just only worked with my boxscrape. Not my other 7 attachments I inherited

Nice video, I just got my RK24 a few weeks ago. Bought the grapple that RK sells. works great. Also got the bucket, box blade, carry all, and balast box. I put 2x10's and added some sides for a 4' wide mini truck bed. I don't know how to attach a picture, or I'd show you. Keep up the good work.

Sounds like a nice setup! I've put 160 hrs on it and it's been wonderful. I like the grapple you got is more of a clamshell rake design. I was looking to pick up larger debris to clear my woods. I also like having a set of forks. I got mine from Titan attachments and they fit and function great. Thanks for sharing and watching 👍🚜

For whatever reason, I have a Kubota L2501HST with the Landpride third function valve, it will actually let you curl & clamp at once. But, if you do both together the force will be reduced. I bought a similar NAI band aftermarket grapple, Kubota dealer told me I had “Pioneer style couplers”, told the implement dealer that, he swapped them out. Works perfect.
@WalnutsandWineberries
@WalnutsandWineberries 2 жыл бұрын
I like the pioneer style connectors, now that I have some experience with tractors. They allow you to remove excess pressure easily, when compared to the flat faced ones. I opted for the flat faced ones because that's what came with the grapple bucket and I figured if I bought any other attachments, it would more than likely come with those. Interesting to hear about your setup. I wonder how that works. I have a diverter valve, providing a 3rd function. Maybe you have a legit 3rd function kit installed on yours. Thanks for sharing.
@christopherfarmer1812
@christopherfarmer1812 2 жыл бұрын
Walnuts and Winberries Rk tractor has a Diverter Valve, not a third function, Jdubski NC your Kubota has a true 3rd function kit, they are similar but yet completely different.... Hence " third function " allows all 3 functions to work at the same time, versus a diverter valve you still only get 2 functions at one time because it's diverting flow from the other function
@WalnutsandWineberries
@WalnutsandWineberries 2 жыл бұрын
@@christopherfarmer1812 yes, you're correct. Thanks for clearing it up. To defend my lingo, I was calling it what RK calls it when you order one. I've learned a lot since this episode.
@christopherfarmer1812

@@WalnutsandWineberries with a lil plumbing change a diverter valve setup can be reconfigured into a true 3rd function setup, it's basically where the added electric valve gets it's supply and return from, and the diverter valve is basically a one way valve versus a two way... Diverters are generally cheaper due to valve costs and less hydraulic lines needed

What if you put a short piece of conduit on the top of the rollover bar with a piece of flagging you can see like a carrot. That would remind you that the bar is up before you back it into the barn.

You needed swivel fittings 3/8 to 1/2 swivel fitting but the way you got is also good. Live and learn.

Where did you get your 3rd function kit, and the kit number if you have it? I have an rk24 and want to put that grapple on but not sure which valve kit to purchase.

Hello W&W. Plumbing and or pipe fitting seems to always require several trips to the hardware store! You also end up with more parts than you need for the job. Not a bad thing really, they may come in handy in the future. I am not sure why the ROPS is so tall on this tractor. Ran mine into the garage door frame last time so I can relate. lol. I need a Dracula! Or want one and good tips on the possibility of tipping over. :)
@WalnutsandWineberries

Haha, yes be careful leaving that ROPS up. I need an overnight warning or something. Happens ALL THE TIME to me. I've been using that grapple quite a bit over the past week and it performs so much better with the extra weight on top, and the tractor can definitely handle it. 💪

I had considered a grappler to and decided to go with hook & pin pallet forks instead. Grappler cost much more. Grappler would reduce my lifting capacity. Grappler requires a third controller. Using a grappler blocks the view of the log when setting a log on the mill.
@WalnutsandWineberries
@WalnutsandWineberries 2 жыл бұрын
All good points here - except for blocking my view. I don't have a problem with my setup. As I'm sure you know, I ended up getting both the grapple bucket and a set of forks. To be honest, my forks collect a lot of dust. It's important to consider one's use when making a big purchase like this. I always try to have multiple uses for one tool before purchasing and that grapple is very versatile and by far my favorite attachment. Well, maybe the backhoe is. It's probably oversized for my tractor, but doesn't give me any trouble with the size logs I mill. I'll get a 20 in. oak log on there at about 10 feet long with no issue.
@caverbrad
@caverbrad 2 жыл бұрын
I don't have any problems with view blocking but my mill is on wheels so maybe it sits higher. Also, I ran mine off the rear remotes with long hoses. I extended the rear remote lever about 5" and it works great. I couldn't justify the cost of a third function since I spent more on my grapple. Everything Attachments single lid Wicked Root grapple.

Why do you blow so much money buying so many attachments? You must be loaded or something. I use the loader with chains, there are so many ways of doing things, and you buy every attachment in the world just starting out. Unless you have a large savings, you are going to be broke, before you get started.
@WalnutsandWineberries
@WalnutsandWineberries 3 жыл бұрын
Nothing beats the right tool for the job, and yes, sometimes the right tool is a chain. In our situation, if I used a chain, I'd never move forward or show any progress. Wish I was loaded. I'd buy more attachments and a bigger tractor. Maybe a skid steer and an excavator too. And a dump truck.
