No SuperThanks?! I’m really excited to hear about the plans for progress next month. I also think upgrading to new commercial equipment is an EXCELLENT INVESTMENT even if you have to go into debt to do so. The price you pay in terms of your time, versus the higher cost of commercial equipment, is something I think is well worth it. Hang in there and trust that we’ll be here to help out!! I suggest reminding viewers of your Patreon and add SuperThanks here on KZfaq!!

The one thing I admire most about you is your steadfast honesty. Your explanations and plans for your future tells me you've put a lot of effort into not only improving yourself but also your techniques and equipment to enhance your quality of workmanship. I, personally, have never doubted your ethic. Each of us gradually improves our "qualities" if we are truly interested in the final "product", no matter what it is. Take care of yourself. I look forward to seeing what you accomplish..

Huge update and worth the wait! As a patron, I'm appreciative of that, but moreover, very excited about your plans for the coming year. You deserve the best equipment to help you be more efficient, and spend less time putting out fires using old, worn-out tools. I figured you were busy but didn't realize how much. Can't wait for the next episode!

Enjoyed hearing you thanking Tony of Fitzee's Fabrications (which made me smile). That's great! You do great work and make awesome content. Try to watch a few episodes of the technique used by Kyle on his KZfaq channel, 'Carter Auto Restyling'. He has what looks to be an improved way of butt welding which I plan on trying soon. IMO, he is a magician when it comes to the sheet metal repair. He is usually restoring rusted parts with patches and is amazing. Definitely think you will appreciate his work. Be warned that he has a unique and very dry/sarcastic sense of humor - delivered deadpan and straight-faced, but I think you will thank me if you can get passed the delivery, and when you see and learn any one of the welding and/or repair techniques he shares.

When you were welding in that patch and you mentioned how you should have lowered the right side of it more, if you pay attention to that spot a little earlier in the clip it's sitting exactly where you wanted it to be. Once you put the first tac along that long edge the material pulled upwards. Just a tip, whenever you're welding anything together, once you get it positioned exactly where you want it to be, your first couple tacs should be put in places specifically to keep the piece from moving. The corners left and right would have been the first place I tac-ed then the top corners of the square piece. Other than that looks great. Keep up the good work man. 👍

Does your welding machine have no settings for welding thin metal? If you correctly set up the welding machine, then you will not need to dot welding. However, I am interested in following the restoration of this E30. Good luck!

20:19 on the new patch it was not necessary to cut the lower edge - to make it lower than necessary. First, it was necessary to weld the patch, draw an even neat line and cut it flush with the sill. 20:19 на новій латці не потрібно було обрізати нижній край - зробити його нижче, ніж потрібно. Спочатку потрібно було приварити латку, провести рівну акуратну лінію і обрізати її врівень з порогом.

Hey, I may be way off, but at an old job I worked for, we had a screw compressor installed and had lots of issues. It didn’t get used enough and would constantly get water in the oil, even with a dryer. My boss was really frustrated with the company that convinced him to buy the unit and wished he had gotten a piston compressor instead. I guess, I would suggest talking with the compressor company about your daily usage to determine if it’s a good call. Im just trying to be friendly here, so if I’m wrong, that’s ok.

I appreciate the creativity and skill it takes to restore cars like this and that is one of my main reason why I enjoy watching his content. However, everyone has different tastes when it comes to content. It's great that he used to restore antique tools and appliances, and maybe others would like to see more of that. Ultimately, we all have our own preferences.

Hi, to answer your question, I think you're gonna be using dry ice to remove that undercoating, in my opinion that is the easiest way to do it, since its just - attach then hammer away, hope i'm right!

Pro tip, for welding tack every 3-5 cm, grind them down, before step welding. This will ensure the panel doesnt fight you constantly. Also having to cut the gap, to make it wider is not uncommon so dont feel bad about it.

@@RestoreIt no worries, just wanted to share the info. Also if you get an air grinder, they are basically the same as the Dremel but for air, you can get some "thick" and somewhat thin cutting/grinding discs for grinding welds. Makes wonder, even for spot welds, to release a panel.

Nice! I've been using a Universal Tool for removing the undersea and interior sound proofing Much better and faster than any other wire wheel option. Just don't press too hard as the wires bend. Let it do its thing It's an airtool, and also comes with the paint/rust removing (double) wheels, a bit like the material you were using to remove the paint. Check out 3M Cubitron 2 sanding discs on the Roloc system for grinding your welds using air angle grinder. Much more forgiving than a normal grinder and really quick. I often use a bigger size disc that the Roloc size so it has a little give on it. Cromwell stock them. Maybe need to space your welds a little more as still a lot of heat in such a small area. I've been learning over the same period as you so I'm no expert, just enjoying the learning and experience! 🙂 Very envious of your workshop!! Thanks for your channel!

Lightweld style laser welding machines would probably be way more up your alley than mig or tig welders. Redline makes a clamshell style pressure pot blasting cabinet that's a whole lot faster than standard sandblasting cabinets too. It's commercial grade and only around 2500 bucks from what I remember but that might work for you

great job man, but in the future on larger panels you shoulnt weld so mutch at once and at the sam place, fitzee does it by doing a weld every 2 inch and cools it with air than puts 1 weld next to every weld and cools it again to minimise heat and so the part doesent go all out of shape, and if you put a lot of heat in to it the weld area wil go in on it self and you have to go behind with hamer and dolly or just fill it with filler. so watch out for more important. but all in all you did an awsom job and i cant wait to see the next video oh and sory for my bad english :)

Hey! Why do you use "raw" metal, it differs in all characteristics from the factory metal. If you are doing a Restoration, then you must use the same metal, from any model but BMW. And so it looks like just a quick repair, for resale. Good luck in everything! I recommend the channel of one pro VLADIMIR SAAKOV LIVE, he shows and tells all the nuances of the restoration.
