Lucy Olson was third leading scorer in the country n Iowa got her, that's huge for the Hawkeyes. With her, Affoltor, Stuelke, McCabe n the #9 recruiting class coming in this season n #6 in 25-26 Iowa looks more reloaded then rebuilding.

The transfer portal is surely crazy but I'm still hoping for Raegan Beers to UCONN and maybe Chen too. However, I can't help but feel sympathy for the decimation of the PAK12 conference. What the help is going on at Oregon? Even before the portal became rampant Kelly Graves would recruit 1 or 2 ranked recruiting classes but the following year most of that class would have left. Anyway I do admire Kenny Brookes's ability to recruit and coach too. LSU and Kim Mulkey, drama central let's wait and see what happens after May 1.

It will be interesting to track how well teams that don't use the portal fare keeping players four years. UConn is on my radar.

I just wants to know where the continuity of playing together and learning and most important unlearning the schemes the Portal Transfers left. Having coached women basketball in the US Air Force those are serious growing pains…when you get new recruits or players transferring in from another schools; especially when the incoming player has to learn new offensive and defensive terminology. Just ask HVL what happened to her game and-most importantly-her confidence when she transferred to LSU?!

As a UCLA fan, I still believe UCLA has a chance at Kaitlyn Chen, Timea Gardiner, and to a lesser extent, Kiki Iriafen. Kaitlyn Chen would be an excellent replacement for Charisma Osborne. Gardiner and Iriafen would be excellent, period. I'd be happy with any one of the three. As for Oregon, they had a lousy team last year. It's no surprise that Oregon players want to follow in Pao-pao's footsteps and get out of dodge. I moved from Eugene, Oregon three years ago, and I can tell you, Eugene is a city in decline. The homeless population there is the worst on the west coast for the size of the city.

I love watching NCAA women's basketball but looking at all these transfers I often wonder if American universities are for studying or for playing sports. Don't get me wrong but how many of these athletes actually finish university with a first-rate course? Universities in the U.S. charge tuition, which is a small fortune, and puts most of the students into long-term debt. Yes, universities generate millions in television rights and ticket sales but don't they also spend big bucks on coaches and arenas? Some of the top female coaches earn more than a million per year. Someone has to pay for those salaries. Should the universities and colleges be recruiting grounds for professional leagues? Should the students pay outrageous tuition to pay for all of that?

Frankly grasshopper, I think your analysis is based too much on the physical. You know their heights, records, and scoring, but coaches like Geno Auriemma and his people look at the attitudes and the families and emotional makeup of the kids they recruit. I believe Geno never recruited Clark because of those things. Her parents were pushy, she complains all the time, she'd rather shoot than pass, although I admit she was a helluva passer. She simply did not fit the makeup Geno wanted his team to have whereas Paige fit perfectly. Geno may or may not even consider people like Beers, and Kiri, depending on what he knows about them and their attitudes, emotions, etc. But, of course, you can't know what's going on in coach's heads, but look at their teams and that may expose some helpful answers. Van Lith, and Mulkey, and the makeup of LSU would answer a lot of questions.

The portal affects all teams but media os the real issue. LSU program is going to have to go through a total rebuild due to the media negative blitzing after their title run. The media has successfully taken that program down. Carolina is next...they working to dismantle her program over the trans issue but the recruiting for dawn is light years ahead so it might take a minute.

Why anyone would play for Kim Mulkey is beyond me.

Some food for thought: If LSU doesn't show anymore portal pick ups, might FlauJae or Morrow decide to abandon ship? They would have to carry the load without much help if Mulkey doesn't find some more players. Their recruiting class is nothing to write home about. Not good for a team that just won the title two years ago. Iriafen bailed on Stanford, after Vanderveer left the cupboard bare. FlauJae or Morrow might do the same.

Hagemann was such an obvious get for LSU. Big blow to miss out on her. I like Deja Kelly. But this would be a sign that LSU learned nothing from last season and they are just trying to accumulate talent regardless of fit,

UConn is a loser if they don’t get a big. Entering the season with nothing but unproven bigs is not an option. Geno’s disdain for the portal is resulting in him being left behind.
