Stopped counting about halfway through, how many things I learned from you in this video. Enough for me to be embarrassed. I've been using Reason since v2. Before that I came from a world of racks of gear and synths and midi cables and fans and noise and dust... ahem. Old man ramble. Anyway, I was always self taught, and i focused on the instruments and was always underskilled on the mixing end of things. Even when I was in a band signed to a major label, I squandered the learning opportunities I could have had because I was busy being a transplanted canadian rockstar in the US living and working for the first time, instead of learning how to mix on an SSL board in Chicago Trax. And because I didn't take care of my ears I am also going deaf. So I'm 53 now, and finally making music that I can get behind, and my mix and master game has improved greatly since I started watching your videos. And for all of that, I wanted to say thank you!

brilliant. the best explanation i’ve found so far. help : 1. maximizer output gain for peak ? 2. need loads more - breakdown , depth, 3. where does compression fit in with LUFS ? and - thanks for your help !
@KickbackCouture2 жыл бұрын
I’m not understanding either of your questions, can you rephrase them?
@TI_Ted2 жыл бұрын
@@KickbackCouture Wow, thanks ! OK, 1. I dunno much at all 2. I'm so old I can't hear differences well. That said. Objective: to get both the LUFS and True Peak to where I want them; making best use of all of: Maximaser Input Gain, Maximiser Output Gain, Compressor Input and Compressor output. Get one to where I want it, and the other one goes off.

Nice video! How come you don't use the master sidechain option and send a hp freq through it to your SSL comp to redirect your bass and can compress all your other freq better? I find I get a lot more headroom.

So I followed your steps and cannot get a signal into my mastering plug in? I tried toggling to the back and moving the control room out to the input on my plug in and moving that output of my plug in to side chain in and I finally got a signal but it’s still not working. I can’t hear any of the adjustments I make to the plug in, in the actual mix. I don’t know why this is causing me so many problems. Any suggestions? Thank you 🙏

Thanks for the video ;) why no compressor also on the top ? Just want to know when to use it 😊
@southernkeyz12 жыл бұрын
I use the master compressor (gently) just to give it a little mix glue..give it a smooth -3DB reduction and adjust the makeup gain and that’ll be your icing on the cake. Especially for tracks with live acoustic instruments (pianos, bass guitar, guitar…etc..) that master compressor in reason has its own unique character and it’s fantastic.
@zajecer2 жыл бұрын
Can someone please explain how to put youlean to reason?
@southernkeyz12 жыл бұрын
When you download the plugin from their website and install it onto your computer, restart your computer and it’ll automatically appear in Reason’s list of installed plugins
