Blending cheap colored pencils is surprisingly easy, even for beginners. Learn how to color with colored pencils, and immediately see smooth, pro results no matter how cheap your coloring supplies are. This step-by-step colored pencil tutorial shows the easiest way to blend cheap colored pencils for smoother results than Deadpool's delivery.
By the way, Deadpool taught me these easy colored pencil techniques, and Ryan Reynolds colored the first Deadpool face you see here! 😆 Seriously though, understanding how to color with colored pencils takes no time at all with these quick tips.
Be sure to subscribe to catch all of my drawing tutorials! I love helping beginners learn to draw and I enjoy giving back to my awesome fans and talented community by giving away art supplies periodically.

I started drawing/coloring with Crayola pencils myself, and quite extensively. By the end of them (aka. when I switched brands) I was fully capable of getting great color blends out of them, but it came at the cost of super heavy drawing pressure (not great for the arm _or_ the paper involved), in fact my major reason for seeking out a different brand WAS the desire to blend colors faster and easier -- but the underlying blending techniques are basically the same. (A single layer of Prismacolors looks not much different from a single layer of Crayolas, they just blend multiple layers so much easier) The sponge trick is news to me, though.

I bought a set that almost cost €30.- it works perfectly fine, best pecils I ever had but if I had known I could do this all along I wonder if I had bought it in the first place. Oh well. Atleast the color pallet is much bigger then any small coloring box you can get.

when I was a kid, I used to just use dull flat/near flat color pencils to blend in the colors, mostly by using that larger surface area of the particular color (if not just white) to jam into the paper with hard pressure and force the colors to blend into a nice flat shade too.

I started drawing/coloring with Crayola pencils myself, and by the end of them I was no stranger to getting intense color quality out of them -- but it required heavy drawing pressure to do so (I really could've used a drawing mat to protect further pages, I just didn't have one). In fact, one of my motivations for seeking out better options (like Prismacolors) WAS the ability to place more color with less pressure. First time hearing about the sponge trick, though! It's almost worth making one or two attempts with....
