That Jeep's biggest problem was the silly low-profile tyres. Nice work getting out without blowing a sidewall or cracking a rim.
@danielklopp7007
@danielklopp7007 12 күн бұрын
Agree 100% - low profile tires on Jeeps, Pickups, SUVs, or passenger sedans are pretty dumb. The only technical reason for low profile tires is sharper turn-in (only important on high performance sports cars); the downsides are poorer ride and fuel economy, as well as higher probability of damaging a rim.

I own a Cherokee Trailhawk that thankfully comes with standard profile 275/60R20 tires; I live in the high desert off a dirt driveway that gets rutted by the rain and snow; and even then, while tempted I would likely not take it off road on most the trails in MORR videos. When we occasionally truck down to Costco for supplies, I notice the Jeep Wrangler/ Trucks for sale and the ridiculous low profile non- terrain tires they sport. Further the hybrids weigh about 700 lbs more than a non-hybrid which is obviously a huge disadvantage off road. That Sierra 4XE weighs 1000 lbs more than my Cherokee.

Excellent work, and the extra spotting helped! Explainer for those who think the jeep save was 'extra dramatic' somehow. City road specific Hybrid wrangler. Street tires with poor traction with rims too large for this kind of terrain. No lift (and in fact lower than usual to the ground). No rock sliders. No lockers. And an obligation to obliviously not damage your customers vehicles. And on a very crusty, bumpy trail with overhang lips on it. Scrape the body there instead of the frame, thats a LOT of costs to repair/replace. Hence, careful spotting. And new vehicles its hard to get used to how jumpy brand new brakes can be again. Rock piling to ensure plastic bumpers and bare frames/body doesnt get damaged. Hard work given some of the rather significant drops and angles just in that patch of trail. That wrangler had no business being taken in there if they were concerned about damage. And you got it out without any. Thats skill. Most of us who offroad get all this. Some folks who probably never did anything but walk a pretty trail in Scotland may not lol.

As a retired firefighter from Phoenix I can attest to the damage tumbleweeds can do. When they stack up against a neighborhood fence like in your photo and there is an ignition source it can turn into a major conflagration that can spread faster than you can run. That is ofcourse if it (the hybrid) does not suffer thermal runaway , which it will do in a scrapyard

For those unfamiliar with tumbleweeds they are not native to the USA, they in fact came from the Soviet Union probably in grain seed or rye grass seed. They were unheard of before about 1880 so their presence in a lot of westerns is incorrect. Matt is right, in a bad year they can pile up 15 feet deep against a house or a barn. They are also a problem here in Australia albeit a different breed of tumbleweed. Towns have had their outskirts overrun as recently as a decade ago with streets of houses on the edge of town buried in the rolling weeds.

Yeah people must have a LOT of money.... I would probably die of embarrassment if I ended up all over youtube in my econo car while some expert dude drags me out. I think it's honestly that some people just don't realize how hard the trails get. They just see a trail and say, "eh it can't be that hard, it's meant for vehicles right?" Maybe they think it will just be a simple trail they can do and take pictures? Other than that idk.... Doesn't help that all these modern cars are built for SHEER economy, they are all low to the ground, with thin low profile tires, they are made for "fuel economy" not off road lol.

I think it would be interesting if you were to take a poll of your viewers to see if that’s the case for your channel? I obviously can’t speak for everyone but I really enjoy your content and the longer videos are great. It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s working in the shop, the trail recoveries, or just the family (meaning everyone) having a good time! its not by choice its due to they way KZfaq algorithm works short vids get promoted more to new people while long form don't anymore, it use to be the other way around
@Hayhurstb
@Hayhurstb 12 күн бұрын
It’s an algorithm thing. KZfaq prioritizes videos of that length. The channels that make longer format are having to go to other places. I know a lot of kids that watch long format stuff, but go ahead and keep pushing the narrative that young people have no attention span. That has more to do with the parenting than the kid.

VGG and Mustie1 seem to be getting longer, they are often over an hour now. And the excavator guys run about 50 minutes. So must be more to it. Just need something to hold attention be it an interesting project, funny sidekick, good descriptions, or just ASMR value.

@@charlescreegan6164 go look at them channels you just said on socialblade and you will see there monthly view and subs dropping to almost nothing then look at a channel showing short form vids like this one and you see there doing lot better as we said its due to algorithm and what youtube are forcing channels to do

Matts flowers and tumbleweed recovery has turned over a new leaf. It's almost like he's filming a certain blue pill commercial. But the happiest member of the team has to be sweet Peanut. She is one happy little dog. Her zest for life is shown with her huge smile. From being rescued from freezing to death on the side of the road to now living her best life running the sand dunes. A++ FOR THE WHOLE CREW.

As fa as I know, in Europe the towing eye has to have a left hand thread. It's in case the tow rope is 3 strand. As 3 strand rope tightens it will try and unwind left handed, therefore tightening the towing eye.

I don't know what those orange flowers are, but the French slang for Dandelions is "Pissenlit," (separates to "pis en lit,") which means the same thing: wet the bed. (Dandelions themselves are a mispronunciation of what they are called in French: "Dent de lyon," or lion's tooth.) And now you know more than you wanted to! 😀

What's that got to do with the civil war
@DeepSouthBuilder
@DeepSouthBuilder 12 күн бұрын
That is categorically untrue. There are multiple species that form tumbleweeds. They come from all over the world. There is no clear consensus on any of the origin facts and timeline that you proposed. Also: Being non native does not make a plant species “invasive.” You’re misusing that term.
@volvo09
@volvo09 12 күн бұрын
@@Bryan-Hensley because in movies and pop culture they always portray tumbleweeds as a staple of the west (cowboys wild wild West, cattle ranchers, etc), and that was all pre civil war, before tumbleweeds had been accidentally introduced. Civil war has nothing to do with it, it's just a reference for time.

@@volvo09 I think you need to recheck your timeline on Westerns (movies). Majority of the storylines were post-Civil War. Case in point, one of the guns seen in the majority of Westerns is the Lever Action Winchester Rifle. The first one being the Model 1866 which came out in 1866 (The Civil War ended 1865). The Model 1873 was nicknamed "Gun that won the West". It was still the Wild West into the early 1900s. But your correct that the civil war has nothing to do with tumbleweeds.

We've got a new 4xe. Ours is the rubicon trim, so it's got bigger tires and more lift than the one here, but we took it off roading and Matt's not joking about it either wanting to stop or go with no in between. We found that it eases up on the weird electric motor nonsense if you put it in e-save mode & turn the max regen breaking off (aka tell it to be as much of a gas engine as it's able). But yeah, for the first part of the day while we were figuring this out it was a jerky ride!
