Eastonmade; 60C 12 Way Wedge Production!!!

Last week we have a video with some smaller logs on the processor and the production rate was on the low side of what we advertise. But what happens when you increase the size of the logs ever so slightly?

"BEAST MODE", I love it !!! Much less waste and what is left is sellable... The sixty blade is much more efficient cutting this stock and bigger, bigger is better w/a sixty blade more money less fuel. Drew you are 'Champion'... I Love It !!! Drew your one hell of an engineer... Note; There is a custom western coach builder in South Dakota that will buy all the good ends someone can provide for turning axle hubs.

Looks great guys. Love the log rolls and how you can get the knots and horns on the top. Alot of wood going through when you get into that bigger stuff.

I saw a guy advertising $400/Cord for tamarack split and delivered here in north Idaho. Lesser woods were around $280/Cord. As energy prices go up the wood will keep following.

I'd like to see you grab some of those re-splits threw the window & throw them back in the splitting chamber...In the field this will happen quite often..

I think Skidder Kev could have cut this load in 11:45 instead of 13. 😂. Unless the log can’t advance until the pusher plate returns to the load position. I also thought the saw blade could be set to initiate closer to the cutting surface. Awesome machine. 👍.

It can be set quite a bit lower for smaller wood. Still need a little bit of clearance there

Hi Andrew, first of all lovely machine and appears great quality. The circular saw cuts super quick, however the follow up split takes perhaps to long. It is about a total of about 5 seconds per split cycle, whereas the top cycle speed machines do it in under 3 seconds. It also takes a while before the cut of wood is ready for the splitter and doesn’t always fall nicely. This large equipment I think works better with the larger diameter logs. Good video.

Thats the issue with a lot of advertising. The splitters will cycle in 3 seconds, but its incredibly difficult to actually run the machine at that limit all day, let alone make firewood that is actually saleable. You will also notice that they dont ever show any of the pieces fall funny in any of their videos. We are really trying to take a realistic approach to this

I'm almost ready to place my order for either the 48 or 60... I just need to see my type of wood go through it... all sizes.. 3 to 22 inch diameter... it will run the big stuff but I need it to run the pecker wood aswell... please post a video thanks Andrew

I was thinking about this the other day about this model. Had the thought to put a self loading grapple head on it crossed your desk before? I’ve one or two big chipping trucks with it and it looked like a great set up. Anyways love the products I hope to own some someday.

Yes i think that would work great. Hard part is being close enough to the logs to reach them with the grapple and then having a loader strong enough to lift a log thats at the machines capacity. Really appreciate the feedback

@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters yeah I see what you mean. It might work if you position it similar to how a log truck would load its self be right along the side of the pile and grab a log at a time to load live deck. I’m just spit balling really. The machines work great how they are.

Looks like that processor will need some paint touch up on the push plate before you send it off to Elite Outdoors. As you said in your truth about splitter production video, the area of a circle is based on the radius squared. There is no getting around that geometry fact. Bigger diameter wood will have a much larger area than smaller diameter wood. At least now you have 2 good production speed videos based on real world conditions you can point people to.

The same also applies to the cross sections of the blade. The power to drive the blade also squares. Perfect for large wood, Maybe not for small wood.

3-3.5 large deck fulls on bells 10ft ext deck is 10 face cord for us. So one deck is about 3 face cord

Just a question about this wedge, wouldnt it be more efficient to build a grid type wedge that had all the openings the same size, like 6x6 ? This one, to me at least seems to make a lot of trash,, just a thought

Really depends on the operation. Minimum would be 100 full cord a year for a setup like this i would think.

Doyle Scale = 512BdFt/Facecord 1,536BdFt/Full Cord Now that being said it will not take that many boardfeet because log scales measure inside the bark and they measure the large and smaller end figuring for an even taper in the log. A better calculation is to know your diameter and length of logs. Figure how many rounds/pieces you can get from one pole and literally Figure the dimensions if those cut rounds were stacked up. Ex. 12in rounds would be 8 rows stacked 4 rows high for 1 Facecord so that's 32 rounds. At 16inches in length it would take just over three 12 inch diameter logs assuming you cut 10 rounds out of 1 log.

No way. A 4000bft tri axle holds a lot more then 8 fc. A better estimate would be 200bdft to a face cord. And the two units don’t scale the same vs the size of the log. It’s a ballpark estimation at best.

They are around $3000usd. Not often would you need to change a whole blade. You can replace all the teeth for a couple of hundred dollars. The teeth are always sharp unless you hit something really hard like steel.

$9 might cover the fuel and maintenance. Add $500 per diem and it would start to be profitable.

If you run a mix of wood 12 to 20 inch... run for 15 mins then stack by hand to see exactly what you may expect from one of these machines

Eastonmade..would love to see a processor of Eastonmade quality that can handle 18” - 24”logs for a beginner wood guy trying to earn a little scratch on the side with a dump trailer.. my 22-28 would be the solution for rounds bigger than 24”! Thanks again for the great content.

So a cord of wood equals about 3 solid Cubic meters =3.62 stacked neatly =5.097 cubic meters thrown =180 Cubic feet thrown . Assuming 50 cm length a 25 cm radius(50cm D=19.7 inch D ) ,then each block = about 0.1 CM solid wood so 30 blocks for a cord , 20cm R=0.063CM= 48 blocks , 15 cm R=0.035CM=85 blocks to equal a cord . 30 cm R ie 24 inch D = only 22 cuts
