Can't wait for it to warm up so I can finish the netting on the bottom and then add another fence enclosure under the mulberry tree.

I started on mine today. I can't get the pegs to line up to get the roof on though. Was there a trick? If you put the dowels into the hole on one side, the other side of the roof won't go on and vice versa. I tried swapping them but it's the same either way.

We only partially screwed the cap on then lined everything up. The whole roof went on as one piece instead of separately. Does that help?

The box says 5-7 and I confirmed that with a couple of people who said there was plenty of room for them.. I was most concerned about sleeping area because I will be doing a variation of free-range with them during the day.

Can I use a 10x18 metal cage as a coop ?

@@kaldenkyulo4100 Well the purpose of the coop is so the chickens have an enclosed space safe from the weather and predators and so they have a specific place to lay eggs. That is the style that I am using. A simple cage could work but it might bring extra difficulties.

Chicken wire underneath does not make sense. Chickens need to scratch the ground.

I am planning on adding straw and scraps to help build up over the wire. I am not sure what kind of predator pressure I will have so I am trying to make this the most secure area and then adding additional fencing for them to roam around in....hopefully this weekend:)

@@flourishingspirits3393 I am planning on only keeping them in that original coop area if there are predator problems. I want to expand that coop area and let them dig around outside of it initially. Hopefully soon I will expand that again. Would like to fence i the area under that mulberry tree.

It worked okay for the first year, after we added extra fencing but now we use for raising our baby chicks. Glad we bought it

They are absolutely junk …. Spend the couple hundred extra dollars and build something that will last.

I am not much of a carpenter lol It will be interesting to see how well it does, especially after expanding the run.

Dude, these small coops and runs are too small and not set up right for roosting and nesting, just not enough space inside. If your chickens are not free ranging 90% of the time and this is all they have, you and everybody else is being inhumane. Especially if you have more than one or two chickens. If you're not going to do it right, don't do it at all.

The run is very small and I've only just moved them in there. Maybe 2 days ago. They seem to be warming up to it and walking around. I'll have to upload a short to show. I do plan on expanding the run here in the next week or so.
