NOTE- Best Press spray or a light water spritz can be used to hold the chalk down to keep it from coming off during quilting. Join Corey tonight on After Hours at Linda's Electric Quilters. This week on After Hours Corey will be featured the Edge-to-Edge or E2E Full Line Stencil to make quilting a breeze. The best part is we will be showing this stencil in use on a sewing machine. This technique can be transferred over to a Longarm machine as well!

I really liked the way Corey talked and explained as well as saw the steps. Not all teachers are as good and waste time that he did not.

Thanks so much for this video. I was interested in your stencils and the pounce. I love the stencils, but now I know the pounce won’t work for me. This rocks. Thanks again!

Hi, first video of yours I've watched, very helpful, thank you! Would love to have seen this demonstrated on a solid (or anything less busy than a batik) but still really helpful.

I have used a couple of older stencils with my laser. Sometimes I cannot get the chalk to show up on some fabrics, so a laser has worked, too.

Thanks for this! Always wanted to know how those stencils were used. However I would have liked to see you demonstrate joining the next set (yes I realize you match the plus marks but would like to have seen it. I only use a DSM for quilting and would love to try the Baptist Fan one. Cheers 🇨🇦🍁

Thanks for making this video Corey for your viewers. There was a comment below about using hairspray to help the chalk adhere, that is very true. Hairspray or Best Press or other similar sizing spray product will work. Also, about the chalk getting into the workings of the machine, it's really not an issue if you regularly clean your machine. A blast of canned air once in a while is always a good idea too. I hope you show the finished quilt! I bet it's spectacular!

Cory, it’s really nice to see you using a technique you’re not 100% familiar with and doing such a fantastic job. Thanks for reminding me about free line stencils. I have probably 30-35 of them, but when I got the Statler I kind of forgot about them. Now that I have a new Vision free motion machine, I’m getting those things back out. Ditto for doing a set of placemats on my domestic sewing machine.Thanks. Oh, I also remember that I used cheap hairspray to “set” the chalk so my arms wouldn’t rub it off when FMing on my DSM. Washes out or Magic Eraser for quick removal.

Yes you can! You can just pounce out the pattern on a kitchen table etc, spray with a mist of best press spray, watch our newest free motion video on how to us it an you are good to go.

I have a longarm and the chalk bounces of easily. The company told me to spray a little hairspray over chalk. I didn’t try it yet but I will next time I use these patterns.

Use a super light mister that are sold in quilt shops and for beauty salons. Let it sink in a bit, then use the magic pounce chalk they make. Let dry a bit before quilting…I have a longarm too, and this seems to work pretty well…will bounce right off starched fabric though…

Question: it seems a lot of chalk dust gets on the quilting foot. Does chalk also end up in the workings of the sewing machine?
@ellenhofer3343

I noticed that, too and was done. Chalk would seem to make more of a mess down there than threads & lint

Loved this video! Great instruction for someone new to quilting like myself. Could you elaborate more on how to use the Best Press or Water Spritz to keep the chalk on the fabric longer? And also, what is the sewing machine you were using? I'm in the market for a new one LOL :)

Check out the video we did last night and we showed you how to use the Best Press. We actually put it in a water spritz bottle we sell and the lightly misted it over the fabric, it held great. We showed a demo of it. We are using a Elna Excellence Pro, because that's we have right now, but we are looking into others. We do have a few bobbin issues with it when moving it faster, but overall it works good.

I am very concerned with all the pounce powder that is collecting on the foot. What damage is also getting down to the machine.
