I completed one table runner and one wall hanging using Edge 2 Edge. Wow! What tedious fun! I join Leslie in asking for borders!!!! That would really set off the designs. Thank you!

I agree. A book with borders to match each design that you have so far. Or include the borders in the expansion packs with each design.

I've been teaching your technique, which each student is required to purchase your book for class. I'm going to be having my third class in March and have a waiting list for another in April 2016. I have found that Floriani's medium cutaway stabilizer works quite well for stitching out the design templates as well. Keep creating and borders would absolutely wonderful.

Encourage folks to buy good quality quilting thread. Thread designed for quilting. Superior, Mettler, and others sell. Mettler also sells quilting thread that I love w silk finish. Interesting to note that cotton 50 weight is "thicker" than poly. So caveat when deciding I go w 60 weight high quilting thread. Agree. Aurifil too thin for the quilting but good for piecing. I use the cones and put on a thread stand and use cottons w silk finish and the polys for machine quilting --withstand the speed so breakage. Cotton withstands the heat. The thin polys may cut the cotton fibers: having said this, the poly from Superior and others have become highly accepted. 50 and 60 weights are my choice. But for thread art work w FMQ I go w 60 or higher to be able to quilt more densely. May use 40 weight or 28 weight for Sashiko style only. Needles: Quilting needles or top stitch w titanium to keep points from dulling. TU. Really Good video to point folks to quilting thread. TU for the info. I am looking forward to trying your edge-to-edge designs w linking guides. Have embroidered my Quilts and love it. FMQ and embroidered designs for this lady w smaller space. Thread is a religion and personal preference to be sure.

I know a lot of quilters ask for specific patterns, but I would love to see more generalized patterns, verses specialty designs....just my 2 cents :-) I don't always make a quilt with a specific purpose in mind so I love just the basic patterns. Our local shop is going to be teaching a class on how to use your technique and she will have your books there to purchase for the class.....can't wait! :-)

I also have a Pfaff creative 4.5. The back of the edge to edge designs especially on the curves do not look nice. The loops from the front are being pulled through to the back. Is there something I can adjust. Is it the tension icon on the screen and do increase or decrease? Thank you
@AmelieScott

Janet - sorry for the delayed response. That’s a machine tension issue that must be addressed by an adjustment to your machine. If you haven’t already done so, take your machine and the sample in to your local quilt store, and show the sample to their technician. It should be a simple adjustment.

Amelie, I just began to use your program yesterday. I had purchased it two years ago, but found the idea to frightening to pursue it, to take the time to learn it, to risk my machine eating my quilt, etc., etc., ... it was when I began to have serious problems with the circulation in my legs that forced me to abandon all fear and open the package, read your book, and get started with the prep work related to my quilt. I LOVE YOUR PROGRAM - AND I WILL BE BUYING MORE !!! IT IS LIKE A MIRACLE FOR ME, a free-motion quilter who in ten years never moved beyond ‘scribbles quilting’ - it worked for me and those who benefited from my work. ANYWAY, PLEASE CONSIDER THIS SUGGESTION: since the columns often will come up short - in terms of filling up the quilt side-to-side and requiring that we also quilt a temporarily attached Muslim border, how about creating the option of making ‘segment’ of the original pattern of quilting - for example ... if the quilting pattern is stars, include a few single stars of various sizes ... this gives us, your customers, the option of quilting as much of the quilt as we wish, then filling the unquilted sides - or borders - using these individual segments of the quilting design. This allows us to customize the quilt, too, and also to quilt each block differently, if we wish. HOW ABOUT THAT IDEA??? And YES - PLEASE MAKE A HALLOWEEN QUILT PATTERN CD FOR ME - US !!!

@AmelieScott
@AmelieScott 9 жыл бұрын
We did get a bit silly in the video. It was a fun day. Sorry if we were not as clear as we wanted to be. Polyester or cotton or rayon will all work, just make sure it is strong! Superior's King Tut is 100 % cotton, but it was so strong it would cut my finger before I could break it. Rayon is strong, but the color can fade, polyester is also very strong. I'm sure a wool would work too as long as it is strong.

I have used the edge to edge on a table runner and I am currently working on a throw. I have a Designer Ruby Royale from Viking and I am having trouble with thread gathering on the bottom, right at the beginning. I pull up the bottom thread and turned off thread cutting, I use Pima 50wt cotton thread. When I start the machine again, it stitches a short row, then stops and says check thread. I check the bottom and thread has bunched up on the bottom. Any suggestions?
@AmelieScott
@AmelieScott 5 жыл бұрын
Thread nesting on the bottom is a machine issue. I would suggest not pulling up the bobbin thread and letting the design create a knot and let your machine thread cutter cut. See if that makes any difference. If the same thing keeps happening, please call your dealer and see if they have any thoughts.

How do feel about using max serger thread on your embroidery machine .
@AmelieScott
@AmelieScott 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think I would use it. Serger thread is pretty weak thread and my guess is that it would shred going back and forth through the embroidery needle at 1000 stitches per minute. But I haven’t tried it, so I really can’t say.

Wondering why the types of Embroidery machines and hoop sizes that are compatible with your product was not discussed in this video and if the patterns could be modified for different hoop sizes
@AmelieScott
@AmelieScott 6 жыл бұрын
Shirley, there are so many different embroidery machines on the market and I can’t possible know all the different models. However, on everyone of our products we list the stitch field requirements and the machine formats. Really that is all the information one needs to decide whether they can use the design on their machine. We also have a FAQ (frequently asked questions) on our website. The video that Leslie and I shot together was to answer her question that she had and we decided to do that in a public forum because I had had several people ask about thread. We thought it would be good information to put out there. -Christine. PS please see other responses too!

@AmelieScott
@AmelieScott 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Marie, I read your name quickly and thought Martha Stewart was contacting me. LOL! We have not gotten around to doing borders. It would be an entirely different process than edge to edge, since designs frequently stitch off the quilt top and on to the backing, so be careful with that o your PR600. It's not a problem stitching off the quilt top, but it is a problem when the foot goes back on to the quilt. It can get caught under the top layer. Some people spray baste and others use a fusible stabilizer around the edges. I don't E2E on my E16. Too fast, and I don't have the throat space behind my machine.

I can't quilt to the edge because only so much of the quilting falls shot on your quilt.You have a gap on sides and bottom ect. where you can't put another hoop desing so alot of your quilt falls in the middle. There is so much empty space before I put on the binding I have to free hand quilt to fill in that space. Also I'm confused why there are no borders. To me this is unfinished product. Great ideal but lacking so much.

petmom ful As with all embroidery, occasionally a thread will break, and you will need to back up and go over a stitch line. Embroidery machines will not let you do a tie off in the middle of a design. In that case, bring your top thread and bobbin to the top where the thread broke. Continue the design until the machine stops. Take a sewing needle and thread the top and bobbin thread. Bring them to the backside. Hand tie a knot, and cover the area with fray check to keep it from coming undone.

I am having trouble finding and responding to your comment about knots. I think someone has imbedded my video on their site, because I received a notice, but I can't find the question now. Please e-mail me at christine@ameliescott.com if you have any questions.

I have several friends who piece with polyester thread too, and refuse to use 100% cotton.

Different brands of needles aren’t great for certain machines. If one wishes to use a specific brand of needle, have the machine tech realign the threader for YOUR BRAND. My Janome likes Schmetz needles, but I have a LOT of Klasse needles. I just thread the needle manually.

Thanks for commenting! I am glad quilting a larger quilt worked out for you. However, I can not recommend quilting larger quilts because of the stress it puts on there embroidery machine. I don't want anyone's machine to break. Also, I personally would not roll the quilt, as the roll becomes very ridged and it is difficult for the embroidery mechanism to move the quilt. You will have a greater risk of quilt drag, which will mess up the design.

+Amelie Scott So how do you put your quilts in the embroidery machines then Amelie, just scrunching them?

+Carla T I fluff the quilt up all around the machine so I don't get quilt drag. If you roll them it creates weight and quilt drag. You want the embroidery arm to be able to move freely. I hope that answers your question. I don't have time today to watch the video again.
