I have used Amelie Scott designs on several quilts. They are fun and easy and look great. They are also a time savor for that quilt you need in a hurry. Now that I have a Luminaire using the camera will make it so much easier. Thanks Terry.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I was glad that I had already picked out the right book/designs (Amelie Scott) and had it onhand when I first found your video. I would have loved to know what to do when I have just enough unquilted space at the end and the whole design will go way past the end of the project, but I'll figure it out. Thanks again.

Thank you. I'm sending for Amalie's book, and the DVD too. Will be experimenting this technique. If it works as easy for me, maybe I'll consider selling my Juki 2200 with Grace frame. (That'll definitely free up quite a bit of space!) I hope that I can, but I don't know why every quilt I begin as twin or other size ends up being queen or king size. Hoping that I can do queen size on my Luminaire. Happy Thoughts!

Thanks for doing this tutorial! -Christine aka Amélie Scott Designs. PS if you don’t have the projector, you can change the start point by pressing the Icon to the right of the +/- stitch icon. When that screen appears, select the position on the left in the middle. Much easier than selecting the first stitch. BTW- Solaris rocks!

Amelie Scott - Christine, thank you for your suggestions. I have used the icon you mentioned (square with a +) to align lettering but have not tried what you described. By the way, I have two questions for you. My dealer does sell your edge to edge designs and some other designs. They do not have the month to month tablerunner series. Are these sold only at Dealers who are signed up for the month to month series? Also, I have the new Big Design package #1. Will you be coming out with more in the Big series. Thanks!

@@terrymaffitt4012 The table runners are Dealer Exclusives, meaning you have to buy them at your local dealer ship, but they are sold individually, so no one needs to commit for a full year. We are working on another Jumbo Pack! And we just release Pack 11.

I have a Luminaire and have done several of the edge to edge designs. Using the projector, I was always off maybe two stitch widths after lining up what looked to be perfect. I was told by my dealer to use the scanner (requiring much more time), because the projector was not as accurate. Yours lined up so perfectly, I'm wondering if it's my machine??

I love your videos. I might have given up on my Lumi if it had been for your tutorials. Question: How do you fill in the space at the side and the bottom if you have borders.? Or if want to use a border design on the borders.? Do you quilt the center part before you put on the borders? I just realized that might be a dumb question!
@terrymaffitt4012
@terrymaffitt4012 3 жыл бұрын
You actually answered your question. When I take a large quilt to a professional Longarm quilter, they use the same continuous edge to edge design across the enter quilt including the borders. If you do not want to do this, you are going to have to start your stitching exactly along the border and stop it at the edge of a border.

I have a question Terry - which design would I use? The small, medium , or large? Is the design “size” based on my largest hoop or the desired effect, in my instance a table runner?

I too have Amelie's book but have yet to complete a project. I was wondering about tension when you quilt on your Luminaire . Is there much adjusting to do?
@terrymaffitt4012
@terrymaffitt4012 5 жыл бұрын
Doug & Norma Mellor - I rarely have to adjust tension. If you have thick batting, you might want to stitch a sample quilt sandwich. You can adjust the foot height or top tension to achieve a perfect stitch. When I am testing, I often use darker thread of similar weight in the bobbin.

Hi Terry! Thank you for these awesome tutorials! I'm a new subscriber since getting Luminaire 2 in Dec. and your videos are so helpful! I am about to quilt my 62x78 quilt using an Amelie Scott design. My question is about stitching the "A" design in first, 3rd etc in columns instead of changing to "B" and alternating back to "A" and stitch in rows. Thank you. Carol
@terrymaffitt4012
@terrymaffitt4012 3 жыл бұрын
Amelie Scott offers a downloadable copy of her book that goes into great detail showing how she prepares her quilt and how to use the designs. Stitch out the A and B templates on mesh or a heavy tear away. When you do, make sure you take a pencil or a pen and outline the inside of the hoop you are using. You can choose to stitch in Rows or columns but she begins in the center. Designs in Machine Embroidery has free Virtual Edge to Edge events right now. Go to their website and signup at a Dealer. The Dime representive has a good video or slideshow showing how she used Amelie Scott.

@terrymaffitt4012
@terrymaffitt4012 4 жыл бұрын
Rose Rivera - if you can pull up the bobbin thread okay, then you can try what I do on the longarm which is to wrap it and the top thread once around my finger and hold it against the fabric until I stitch the first stitch. If you cannot get a hold of the bobbin thread to pull it up, try using tweezers.

@petmomful2260

I have a commercial type 12 needle and I bought a 10 inch magnetic hoop with a very strong magnet, it is called a Mighty Hoop. I really love it. It holds so firmly that quilts and even thick jackets can be done. I don't think it is available for home machines, but in general, I find magnetic hoops to be so convenient. The top just pops on!
