EASY HOMEMADE GHANA SUGAR BREAD | NO MILK | NO EGGS

Ingredients:
Flour - 3cups = 384g All Purpose Flour
Sugar - 1/4cup = 50g
Butter - 1/4cup = 57g
Salt - 1tsp = 5g
Nutmeg - 1/2tsp = 2.5g
Butter Flavor - 1/2tsp = 2.5g
Water -3/4-1cup Warm Water = 6-8fl oz or 177-236ml
Yeast - 2tsp = 10g
Ingredients In French
Farine - 3tasses
Sucre - 1/4tasse
Beurre - 1/4tasse
Sel - 1cuillere a cafe
Noix de Muscade - 1/2 cuillere a cafe
Saveurre de beurre - 1/2 cuillere a cafe
Eau - 3/4-1 tasse
Levure - 2cuillere a cafe
Bake on 325• for 15-20 minutes depending on how brown you want it

Adjele, your sweet calming video is SO clear and easy to follow, and I’m not a bread maker. My Ghana sugar bread came out PERFECTLY!!! I was amazed!!! I thought for sure it required a special touch or expert bread skills, but I watched and did everything you did, and WOW. THE WHOLE HOUSE smells like a bakery. OMG looks so amazing ! In France, we call it brioche. Bread for us has a hard crust and a soft inside. We "braid" the brioche for style. And we usually put a bit of egg in top of the dough after it rose to make the brioche shiny!

Sweet, I did it! It was very tasty. I did not have butter flavour nor packet yeast. I used the other yeast in the tin and it came out very well. Thanks for sharing.

I was talking to a friend of mine this week who lives in Ghana. He was eating bread and told me it was Ghana Sugar Bread. He's not a baker so he couldn't tell me how to make it. @@SweetAdjeley some say brodo as well as pano. Both may be remiscent of past colonial influence in Ghana. Brodo sounds like a derivative of bread and pano sounds Latin such as pain (French)

@@a.konadu4010 wow Affie great comment. This gave me more insight. Brodo/blodo may well be a derivative of the English bread. Pano could also could have also come from pan or pao for Spanish and Portuguese respectively. In Ga we call onion sabolai. In Portuguese it's called cebola. The Ga call shoe aspatre and the Portuguese call it sapato. If you wondering why so much Portuguese influence, they were the first Europeans to land on what is known today as Ghana. It's crazy to know how much influenced these Europeans had on us.

My first time try was successful so, I tried again today and I messed up by not using warm water. I was so upset with myself then, I thought to myself how to correct this error and so, it came to me to put the dough in the microwave for a minute and it worked. Lol! I'm happy now 😋
