Yes you are absolutely right. I had a missing front tooth for years. i had a cap in place of the missing tooth. I got a dental implant done....and i was soooo afraid to bite anything with it, in fear it would pop out or get loosen. The implant is actually stronger than my other front tooth but yet i was still afraid to bite with it. It took me days to just break that surpressing mental thought that i cant bite with it. But i figured too, that this $4000 implant should be completely okay to bite. So months later the fear is gone. And now i eat caramel apples and pretty much anything without even thinking twice about it. So thank you for this video cause i thought i was the only one that was feeling this way. After not hearing or seeing anyone else talk about the this fear.

Hi Kristi! It's understandable that you wouldn't want ppl to think that you are only going to do video's about implants now. But it could be because the last couple videos have been about dentures, everyone is sitting on the edge of their seat for any information they can find on the experience of having implants. You have given so much of yourself to share your experiences with having both, and this is such a good deed that you do! And I know that we all are very grateful to you!

Hi Kalinjax, I'm a dentist and a practicing Denturist form Ontario, Canada. What you're experiencing is perfectly fine, it's called PROPRIOCEPTION. Proprioception is the sensation of space in your mouth, a sense of existance and where food is and how hard you are chewing on it. It also allows you to now where your tongue is and cheeks, and also through partly proprioception, we know how to move our jaws in different directions and how. I will continue in another paragraph...

Hey Lady, Good Video. It's Good Seeing You Again. Oh, Your Mom looks simply fab, much younger too! I Have Crowns up front and it took me about 3 years before I really actually chomped down with them.. lol. Your dentalwork is much more secured, and it takes time for us to un psyced..[ i can`t spell it] ourselves into thinking the negative.. laugh. This may sound strange but you and I will be friends one day. When the time is right I will tell you about my business. Timing is everything!!!! hugs

Ok, i've found your question. Chris, I don't know how you've missed it but I had dentures for over two years and got implants in March. You must have missed like all of my videos...I've mentioned exactly what I have in several videos. In the description box of this video, i've even included a link to an "FAQ" page where I go into more detail.

Thanks you guys =) I am sure it is from the years of repeatedly doing things and getting the same result, i've come to expect it. It's just so strange how the body could interpret the implants as actual teeth! The thought never crossed my mind with dentures, I was comforted in knowing that nothing was going to pop out of my gums lol. But w/ the implants, it's just a different ball game!

I really want to thank you for this information you have provided. It has been really helpful for me. I'm scheduled to have my implants done September 14th. The one question I have and Im sorry if you have mentioned this already , But does food taste any different with the implants. Are the taste buds effected with the implant in the mouth or is it the same as it was with real teeth. I assume the sensation might be a little different or does this just take time to get use to. Thank you again for all your information. Wade

Yes, implant retained dentures are just dentures that snap into implants but can be easily taken out to clean and what not.

No, the only additional was that some of my bone was removed to even things out on the bottom. That's pretty much the extent and that was done during the procedure.

I actually heard that it was a problem so I never even sought out a definitive answer.... but I would call your dentist or any dentist office and ask if they would recommend extractions during pregnancy. I don't think it's really the extractions that would be the problem but the meds prescribed for pain management and infection, maybe....

It's quite likely that you have been conditioned for years that the pressure sensation of biting with too much pressure will cause pain.. The main experiences you've had of feeling something hard "cracked" on your teeth and having it damage/crack/chip your bad teeth (and result in a lot of pain) have contributed to it. When you feel the same pressure now, even though there are no bad teeth to fail you... triggers all the anxiety of previous experience. Over time you will test/trust them more.

Question if I may? Ok first did you research ClearChoice? And if so what made you go with Dr. Golpa? I am wanting the All On 4 Dental Implant Surgery as well. Second - How much does the All On 4 Dental Implant Surgery cost? And how bad does your jaw and gums feel after the surgery?

I am sure it will be this way for a while. Your implants look great and I am very happy that you are doing well with the exception of this, I am sure you will work at this and this too, shall pass.

Hot messness lol! I took me a while to feel comfortable with chewing in the side of my mouth where my crown is at. I was very apprehensive at first. Definitely took some getting used to.

It's more of a apprehensive feeling. After having my top front teeth crowned it took me awhile before they felt secure enough to bite into things like hard cookies.

LOL! Well, I had extra work done that isn't typical and I guess I could say it wasn't *technically* $54k worth of dental work since accommodations for both trips are included in the price:-/ I'd say without any extras it may cost in the upper 30k's, maybe?

Hi, do you know something about extractions during pregnancy? I have an appointment in October but seems that my plans of starting the reparations in autumn will have to be postponed because of the pregnancy, does anyone have an experience with extractions during pregnancy? thank you.

Those implants are torqued very rigidly in your bones so do not be afraid. There have been cases where implants do loosen but considering your health status and the number of implants in there, I wouldn't worry id I were you. The implants are the ones that are now returning some of the proprioception sensation to you, completely normal. Never the less, I wouldn't go full out and try to bite a carrot with the anterior teeth for example, eat how ever but with in reason, good luck.

Forgive me, so propriocetion is a sensation that our periodontal ligaments (the ligaments that used to hold teeth in place, or in other words, suspend teeth in their sockets) provided us with. Ask a person who hasn't had teeth for 20 years to move their tongue or jaws in certain direction and they'll have a really hard time doing so. Ask them to bite on back teeth, and they don't know what that means. Chewing should be normal for you, don't be afraid. I will continue in another comment....
