That's how it was in the beginning, but eBay got rid of that feature years ago. Honestly, I just think the whole feedback system is completely antiquated.

eBay's feedback system itself is garbage, especially since its only one sided. Yeah, because buyers don't ever take advantage of it? Lol that's laughable. They just need to get rid of it altogether. Anymore if someone offers me a price below what I really want, I look at their feedback to see what feedback they left for others before even considering counteroffering. I can only look that up on the site, not on the app. If the buyer left multiple negatives for different sellers, its obvious that they may potentially be a problem that I don't even want to deal with. They can go kick rocks! Get rid of feedback eBay, nobody cares! Or let sellers leave negative feedback as well. Fair is fair!

I've been singing this song for years and it's been a problem ever since they removed negative feedback for buyers (which was forever ago). It's a pointless and antiquated system. I like Mercari's system; buyer has three days to accept or return the item, after that, the deal is done and everyone moves on. Not sure why eBay cant' just streamline this process.

I had a neutral feedback left by a customer, my first and only non positive ever. The item they purchased arrived slightly damaged (Yes I packaged it very very well but stuff happens no matter) so they opened a return. I accepted the return and paid the shipping for the return. The buyer left the neutral feedback stating that basically they just wanted a refund and didn't want to return the item. After 30 days I let it go and the item was never returned so I contacted eBay and they REFUSED to remove the feedback. 1400 items sold, one blemish and eBay wouldn't remove it.

I had someone leave a negative, then open a return (which I accepted). They never sent the item back so it was closed automatically and they also removed the negative feedback automatically.

I just got my first neutral for a night gown. Buyer stated that it was good enough to wear around the house. It was new with tag and very nice. My question, where else do you wear a nightgown? 😂 I am hoping it will be resolved. But doubt it. EBay needs to get rid of this or let sellers leave neutral and negative too

I have a negative feedback on an item that arrived late due to the post office sending it to the wrong station. It was shown on the tracking info as well. Ebay's policy before this was they automatically would remove negative feedback, and even included instances with mail. I contacted someone and even the human didn't remove it, this even after I sent them their own policy on having it removed. I think I trust gas station sushi over anything they say now, unless actions change.

Thanks for sharing ! We shall see! I called recently to get unfair feedback removed . I thought for sure the agent was going to be more helpful and the removal sounded promising. Agent had me fill out the request feedback removal form and well…. DENIED about a day later. So unfair! Such BS. I’ve been a seller since 1999 on EBay and have had 100 percent positive for most of those 25 years. I wish things could just go back to how they were. The power of the buyer is absurd.

Yes, total garbage is Ebay on the negative feedback. Same for us. The buyers have figured out that if they do not return the item the fake negative feedback stays since seller protection only works when buyers return the item. Then we can not leave a negative in return for the abuse. B.S Ebay.

I’d hope that eBay can also start tracking and holding the abusive buyers accountable for consistently doing things such as ordering items then requesting cancellations, buyers that are negative across the board with all sellers & that are notorious for these types of behaviors should be restricted

@@ballbagchris6920 I had a buyer ask to cancel because I wouldn’t give them a discount and they left a negative and eBay wouldn’t remove it. I’ve seen it all in 18 years. It has literally aged me. The worst is claiming NAD due to fit, which forces the seller to pay shipping both ways and then they leave a negative because THEY got fat.

Ebay is stupider than that. A buyer can win an auction, then not pay for it. That buyer then can open an item not received case against you.

Hi Casey, I’m glad to hear that eBay changed their feedback removal policy because their automated system really screwed up my Store. I had a buyer claim that I sold a “used” book as new but it was 100% brand new. I had never received a negative feedback review and was 100% rated. However the automated system rejected my feedback removal request and my rating was reduced to 85%. My sales have tanked. I just checked and I believe that eBay adjusted my feedback back to 100%, I’m very surprised! Maybe my sales will bounce back! Cheers, Pat

if the seller HAVE FREE 30 days return policy, any neutral/negative feedback SHOULD be removed automatically.

Are they going to review all the negative feedback left in the last six months too? That should say it all. They should also look at the feedback that buyers are leaving. If over the last 12 months more than 25% of the feedback that they have left is negative, that user should be banned from eBay for life too! That's costing them revenue and causing them expense and they should do something about it.

You know what would be nice if they had a eBay feedback removal tool that identify the feedback was not appropriate to the transaction or the situation and would not let the buyer leave the negative feedback in the first place. I have had negative feedback removed successfully in the past and also neutrals with the automated system 👍 🤝

my 1 single negative was left 47 days after purchase and she said the dress was shredded and beads were missing (my listing pics prove otherwise) My thing is, if she received a dress she paid $75 for why didn't she speak up when she got it if it was that bad? I feel like eBay should have a time limit on the ability to leave negative feedback. If you have a negative experience 99.9% of the time you are going to speak up asap not wait almost 2 months

I did have one dined 2 weeks ago. The buyer wanted a discount after receiving the item. I offered free return. The buyer said they wanted a discount or bad review. eBay denied my removal request smh

Yeah, that's flat out extorion by the buyer and is absolutely against eBay policy. I had a very similar case of a buyer trying to extort a free item without a return otherwise he'd leave neg feedback. I refused and offered free return again. He left the negative comment. I reported the buyer to eBay, requested the feedback removed and they did nothing. I hope they get their crap together.

I have had 3 BS negative feedback. Even having made full refund before receiving the negative feedback. Even allowing the Buyer to keep the card. And these were for 99 cent cards. eBay and it’s Buyers are really BS.

We had the same thing happen with buyer extortion. Reported to eBay and they did nothing. Now we have a negative feedback. We did reply on the feedback that it was extortion.

Ive had 3 negative feedbacks that were put through the system this past year.One was clear feedback extortion,one was usps taking too long to deliver and one was a negative that was clearly meant to be a positive feedback.All 3 were removed quickly ive had luck with the system so far.But hope more improvments do come!

Since eBay went all AI for their feedback program I’ve received quite a few which were all rejected by the AI attendant. None of them did I deserve. But, oh well. I’ve taken the attitude that no business can be perfect and we will all have haters and complainers. AI is here to stay so I’m adapting. Good to see that eBay might be making this change though. Thanks Casey for the update video. You are always right on top of all the latest happenings. I got a negative feedback about 6 months ago, and was denied removal. I also went through the eBay Facebook business site to see if they could help with it. Got no where. They were very nice in their responses to me about it,but no removal. I wonder if a negative that far back would be considered for removal. The buyer was very vague in her reason for negative, and was not honest, and wasn’t real responsive either. She never reached out to me before leaving the feedback either. I mean there is proof that she was not honest about the reason. I did leave a response to her feedback in the feedback section. I wasn’t rude or mean about it, although I could have been. Really couldn’t go into too much detail in my response because they only allow you so many characters. Anywho, I hate seeing that dang negative stare at me every time I am in eBay. Have to see it for a whole year before it goes away. Thanks for letting me engage you with my dilemma..

Don't worry, it's not going to affect your sales. I was falling apart about my negative feedback couple years ago, but the time passed, it's gone, and not like it did anything to my sales.

My only negative feedback came from a person who bought two items, mailed out together in the same package. Before mailing, I adjusted the price of one of the items to correspond to the offer that I made. One of my feedbacks came back positive and the other negative (exact verbiage) from the person who seemed delighted by their experience. I believe that the negative was a mistake. Unfortunately the person didn’t respond to the feedback revision in time and it expired. My only negative feedback ever.

Just got my first negative feedback after selling 250 items. The buyer is being completely unreasonable . He says the XL shirt doesn't fit him even though I put measurements in all my listings. Then he says he understands the shirt is used but it's "used a lot". You would think the shirt was falling apart with the way he described it. I messaged him explaining to him the whole point of me listing the measurements in my listing and the fact that he's buying USED clothing. I also offered him a refund. I'm currently waiting on his response but I'm getting impatient and just thinking about contacting Ebay . He may revise his review into a positive one so idk if I should contact Ebay so soon.

I got a an unfair neg (BEEN SELLING 26 YEARS) and they called me a name, so they finally removed just the text and left the title....lol. They said the buyer might not like it if they removed the whole thing.

Speaking of Mercari, they just laid off 25% of their US staff. They're sinking fast and I wouldn't be shocked to see eBay or Amazon scoop them up. The fee structure changes were the nail in their coffin and anyone with any type of business sense knew it would be a massive failure.

For Mercari, the fees were never the problem. Nobody every buys anything, even when listed for reasonable prices. I can list the same item for the same price on eBay and Mercari and I'll sell 10 on eBay before I even get a reasonable offer on Mercari. I actually prefer Mercari's system: the buyer has three days to either accept or deny, then boom, the transaction is done, no muss no fuss. I'll pay the fees, just get me some buyers!

At LEAST you have been able to call - I have been top rated, part of the top 10% in my category, always able to talk to the top tier customer service for at LEAST 15 years (the one in Utah and Austin). All of the sudden, mid last year, I cant get a hold of ANYONE (even the crap CS). Nothing at all, no numbers work, chat is an endless loop, call back doesnt work, nothing. Still dont know what is going on.

It went to automated because the call center industry has been moving over to self service applications for years. It is not only eBay. Anything that can be automated has been and will continue to be pushed towards Help & Contact. Those who do not have concierge can attest to how difficult it is to get a rep on the phone now adays. The only reason they are making this change is due to the pushback and as soon as they can make the automation process work for feedback removal (through AI) it will be brought back. Count on it.

This is totally a sham. I had a person leave a negative feedback just I believe yesterday because they got their item and they said it was too small so they returned it and the reason was not fit. I refunded 30 days their item price minus the shipping they left me a negative feedback. It was not.

I recently received my 1st negative feedback in the 24 years as a seller. The buyer left a nasty comment stating buyers should never buy from me. Ebay removed the comment but left the negative feedback remaining. What a joke.

I had a customer buy a bar of soap and they said that it was not the same bar of soap that was in the listing. I have only EVER had (1) of that SKU and what the buyer said was impossible. eBay would not remove the negative feedback even though it was buyer error, so I'm going to call back tomorrow. That buyer left the same negative feedback for the same SKU for another seller.

I want to be happy about this, but like you, I have doubts. The idea of automating removal was flawed from the beginning. A computer can not understand context. Sure, it can see if the buyer curses in the feedback. That's fine. But there are SO MANY situations where negative feedback can only be fought against by explaining details in a chain of events. This takes human intervention. Feedback is supposed to reflect on OUR service, not things out of our control. We should never get negative feedback because: An item was delayed in delivery by the carrier, We wouldn't accept a return after our return policy, The buyer leaves a product review, The buyer claims to have not received an item that tracking shows delivered, The buyer complains about something that was clearly disclosed in the listing, Etc, etc. I could go on. I hope that Ebay is serious about making common sense feedback removal the norm. We'll see.

Scammers buy, and when they don't like or let's say it is clothing, either they ripe it and lie that the item is defective/not as described in order to return. Many hungry buyers have been lawyerING to discredit sellers. Ebay has clearly come across abusive, unfair, and irrelevant feedback.

This is excellent news! They didn't have an appropriate example though, about denying a cancellation. I'm mostly concerned about feedback like "I didn't like it" or "it wasn't what I expected", this totally subjective trash, when a buyer absolutely doesn't read the description and doesn't understand what they're buying, this gotta be removed.

I got a cancellation request for a buyer's regret purchase and because the customer was rude I declined it. Ended up receiving unwarranted negative feedback and contacted Ebay directly about this and the agent blamed me for their mistake. Why is the choice there to decline or accept a cancellation request if it's not recommended? Now I have to contact Ebay to remove this feedback from months ago since they changed their policy acknowledging they were wrong about this (and Ebay community members were wrong too).

It's too little, too late. What about the 6% addition fees they racked up from "high not as described cases?" that were complete BS! Go back to 0% seller fees for a year and I'd CONSIDER wasting 5 minutes+ per listing. Catch me on GOAT 30 second listing time and consignment storage. GL eBay lol

Getting a negative review for a product review, buyers remorse or even one that gets feedback extortion but can't ultimately get it removed sucks as a seller. eBay is going to keep going down this rocky road and will never give seller support. I'm still waiting on a feedback extortion one to be taken down after over a month and a supervisor was suppose to even review it. Nothing happened and this feedback is still live. It's been an amazing system.

Just even got a negative feedback from a buyer who accepted a counter offer, but wanted it for a lesser price due to the damaged box. Even though we were already priced lower than a new and mint product. Their whole feedback talks about how I wouldnt accept a "decent offer" yet their offer was asking 30% off and our counter was 15% off. I can almost bet I wont see this feedback removed.

I got my only negative I have right now for shipping too fast, I did ship before they sent a cancel request, they leave horrible feedback with same reasons to a bunch of other sellers, they left the negative almost 60 days after purchase and it is a Nuckees phone grip, the feedback says they hate it, I have free returns, upset I shipped too fast, what did I do wrong, plus they hit my star ratings, Ebay refused to do anything, I just called them to try again

Does this make any difference on defects ? Or just feedback ? I have one defect that is so crazy .. the person said they wanted to return a jacket for not as described saying the item was not the same color . I take great pictures . The picture the my used was a picture of their floor . I called eBay they said the shipping was on me since it’s NAD . I filed a removal with photos and everything and they denied it . They also told me don’t refund until the reversal case is over so it went on my defects 🙄. The other 2 defects are on me but that one was not !!

I had a buyer leave me negative feedback because the item did not include a charging cable, but in the description I stated that the sale did not include a charging cable. Buyer also attacked my character saying I’m tricking people and am bad business. This was just a few weeks ago and I am still fighting to get it removed. Was told yesterday this has not been implemented yet and received the automated response that the feedback does not go against the policy. Is there anyone you recommend I contact or get in touch with at eBay? Very frustrating.

Well, I can say that I only had one negative feedback and it was the most ridiculous reason ever. I even called to complain to eBay about it because I offered the customer a refund plus offered to pay for the shipping and the customer still wouldn’t do it . They claimed the item was worse than pictured which was a complete lie. I lived with that feedback for six months and then all the sudden it disappeared. So not only is eBay cleaning up negative feedback on their own . They’re probably comparing that to my high seller rating status and excellent feedback of which the neg mark was removed. I went back to the old listing to see if the customer decided to remove it, but guess what they didn’t. Ebay did it months later. Thanks so much for staying on top of this stuff. You are the eyes and ears of the eBay newswire.

Some people are negative in general. I don't even waste my time about negative feedback. You can can leave a response. I had a buyer leave me negative feedback 45 days after purchase stating the item was faded, heavily washed, and graphics crackling. Pics clearly showed in new condition. 98% - 99% feedback I would still trust the seller.

I never believe ebay. You get 10 different reps who give you 10 different answers. It’s a crap shoot no matter what! Sometimes you get lucky and win! More often than not though it’s like Clint Eastwood would say: “you’re SOL!”

The feedback system is useless if only one side can give negative feedback. Yes, sellers abused it in the past. BUT why was ebay not give an automatic negative to buyers who have unpaid item cases or allow a seller to respond with a neutral or negative to a buyer who gave them negative? I am willing to bet that these changes will make it worse not better for sellers.

I don't seem to recall any change eBay has made that made things easier or better for sellers. I'm sure there have been a couple, but those times probably only negated a previously failed process. I really don't trust much of anything they do or say.

I must be in the 5% minority. I’ve received maybe 5 negatives in the past 3 years or so, out of around 9K sales. Every single one was removed. The past 2 or 3 were removed using the feedback removal tool on the eBay site. Those negative feedbacks were removed within minutes after submission. I do offer free returns and I’m guessing this played a factor into why I was able to have them removed.

HI The entire negative feedback on ebay is totally broken I have 8 negative feedbacks which was not my fault and ebay wont remove it iF i refund my buyer 100 percent and tell my buyer to keep the item so I am out the sale and merchadise and I gave my buyer free shipping why should I have a negative feedback still there buyers are buying items from me just to leave negative feeback I go above and beond for my buyers and still get megative feedback I am out of feedback revisions reqests

​@@brentbradley6711- so did I. I blocked them. They just created a new account and decided to purchase my item anyway. They came back a few days later and said item was never delivered. It was (tracking done through ebay) and I won the outcome. Needless to say, they were blocked again.

Ebay negative feedback removal has been excellent! Why change it? They have removed all my negative and neutral fb for me over the last few years thru thier automated system and removed within minutes. . It's been great.

I had a guy buy a brand new, sealed automatic toothbrush. He opened it, swapped out the charger base and sent back his old, rusty, toothpaste and hard water, yellowish stained with scratches and mold broken charger base. He said the item was defective. When I received it, it was obvious what it was. I sent pictures to ebay and they agreed. I did not have to refund him a dime. The buyer left me negative feedback, claiming I sold him an old used toothbrush. Ebay let the feedback stand and I pushed the matter as high as I could get it to go. The system is absolutely broken.

It would be nice if one day sellers can leave buyers negative feedback, even if it is only for those that dont pay- even if the comment was only an automatic "Buyer didnt pay" that was the only negative comment you could be make.
