I have shivers up and down my spine. No one has sung this aria, or anything for that matter, like this. He understands momentum and transport of tones perfectly, as if speaking directly to our emotional receptors, confessing a well kept secret or hushing a child to sleep.

Gracias.

Holy f**k!!! I had no idea this recording existed!!!! God, it brought tears to my eyes. The end of the first section is just sublime!!!! His coloratura impressed me too!!! How old was he when he recorded this? Thank you soooooooooo much for posting this!!!!!

Bravo! He is the only other tenor to date besides Tito Beltran that I have heard take the top note at the end (although it is not written that way, it is given as an optional note). His agility was wonderful and I think in fact better than Luigi Alva's, but the tempo was too slow for my liking in the opening third. But overall a wonderful performance. Bravo again!

Too much? That lostral was probably the best out there with the unbelieavable transition to sweet meza voce..

But, I guess, it's also good to be played in Lento..it really soothes when you hear it... maybe it's also because of Kraus' voice of course..=)

The consummate musician of tenors. Though I had a friend who claimed that in Rossini it was bad form to go up at the end.
@josemanuelfarfanmunoz15404 жыл бұрын
The one who does not go up at the end is because he cannot, dear friend and it is better to say that "it is a bad way to go to the end". Regards

Saludos"

@@josemanuelfarfanmunoz1540 This was a well regarded musical scholar and teacher. Who sang with Joan Sutherland. I'm pretty sure he wasn't pulling this idea out of his ego or ass. Don't get me wrong. I love Franco Corelli and Kraus. One would never mistake one for the other. Kraus was by far the more consummate musician but Corelli sound was the shizz.

@@ednatrumbull Hello: I do not know who that musical scholar of whom he speaks to me can be, and I am certainly a simple fan without even musical training, but I insist on my previous statement because I understand from the little sense and musical ear that I have, that either Rossini or San Sirolín, if the note that goes up does not clash with the rest of the score and is also well done, I do not think that neither one nor the other (Rossini or San Sirolín) put the slightest glue to its execution. With all my respect and maximum cordiality, I receive my warmest regards from Spain.

This song is supposed to be LARGO not LENTO, not to knock Kraus, but the conductor. Way too slow.
