This is one that I didn't see coming. It felt like the compression was good enough to run. Spark, and fuel delivery was checked and we verified it all. Then we pulled the exhaust. See what we found and watch to bonus material at the very end to get a good visual. Thanks for watching guys and gals. Please share and give it a thumbs up.

I’ll be posting and commenting more from here on out. I’ve went through a lot of life changes and events in the last year. Love your channel brother, and even though I haven’t been commenting, I’ve been watching.

Ouch, always sucks to see piston damage. Good tips on the compressed air to check the carb and dry out that bottle! -Niles

Great job. I had the same model the other day that a screw had backed out and was hitting the fan wheel. Another shop told him it was a bad rod.

That's what I find on the Stihl handhelds. I have not had that happen to me on an Echo yet. If it happened once it will happen again so I will be on the lookout for that now. So good to hear from you brother. I hope all is well with you and your family.👍

Almost forgot to tell you, recall came out in March for around 70,000 backpack blowers. Faulty straps and plastic coming out of the fan area.

Got the same problem with the 8010 echo coil wire on coil was broke off installed new coil has spark now but won't start. Coughs thru intake. Seems to have good compression. Guess I'll check rings like you did. Replaced old carb with new carb also.

I have the same blower and I’m working on it for someone else, I could get it started with starting fluid and it would run roughly for about 10 seconds and quit. I cleaned the carburetor and also used air to blow through it and still nothing. I bought an aftermarket carburetor and still will not start. It does have spark but it doesn’t look like a lot of spark. Would that have anything to do with it? I’m going to check out the piston, thanks for the video

Jimmie I'm gonna give you this link to another similar blower and the frustration that we sometimes go through. I will say that those 8010 models are getting a bad reputation for your exact problem which is spark related. So much so that now they have discontinued that model and now make a 9010 that does not (as far as I know) have the same problem. Watch the video and use the process of elimination and see if that helps with the diagnosis. My first suggestion would be to gain access to another 8010 coil and install it and see if the problem goes away. If no access the owner will have to splurge for the coil. In this case I would NOT get OEM. Let me and others know what comes of this please . kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7CcZZVpt5PGmo0.htmlsi=-Vfxa3_e8__cmud0

Had the same problem with an Echo curved shaft. Sprayed lubricant thru exhaust port onto rings.Tried pushing in ring. After several days ring pushed up Put trimmer back together. Started up. Ran fine. Gave it to a buddy of mine. Still runs. Go figure

No it was out of his price range. He kept it as a parts machine I believe.

Typical 8010. I see these in the shop all the time with engine failure. Most of them owned by landscapers that use the same fuel in several pieces of equipment. So no, it's not always fuel related. I have one, hate it. It was zo terribly lean from the factory that it wouldn't warm up. I bought one of those 30 dollar tools to adjust the carb.

So what Caused the problem?

Looked to me like cold engine seizure. When they don't let the machine warm up and go to full throttle. The rings seize to the piston and no longer provide the needed compression to run. Operator error.

If throttling one up cold damages pistons, all mine would be toast right now. 8010's however are notorious for being overly lean from the factory.
