Thanks for the first look. I purchased it a few days ago, and it should be here today. At this point, I'm buying jackets and don't even know why ! I see a jacket that looks good, and I buy it ! Great video as always.

@@GearWave I forgot to ask, but have you seen anything about wind resistance on this jacket ? I'm also looking at the EB Mountain Ops FreeFuse stretch parka too. There was nothing to see regarding wind there too.
@GearWave3 жыл бұрын
@@reginaldacklin7653 don't feel bad. I see jackets and just buy them too. Lol 😂😂😂 The Free Fuse I believe will block moderate amounts of wind BUT it's NOT fully windproof. The Mountain OPS Jacket is WINDPROOF but bulkier. So you have to weigh your options. Hope this helps. Thanks again for watching.

Thank you for the great review! So far you're the only gear review to date. If you have time in the future, or whenever it gets cold, let us know how it's held up. I'm looking at this for backpacking, and I'm curious how durable the outer material is.

I love your video, please do more jackets. Tell more about the size matching the height, and how is the warmth for -10 or -20 C. Thanks bud!

Thank you. I hope to do more in the coming months. This is a size XL that doesn't fit super loose or super snug. The fabric has some stretch to it too. Thanks for watching!

Really appreciate your gear reviews man! I am a bit hesitant between this and the Downlight jacket. Is the Downlight warmer than this or is the warmth similar?
@GearWave7 ай бұрын
The NEW Down light I believe is much warmer. I've worn both and surprisingly the Downlight keeps me warmer in more conditions. Def give it a try. Thanks for watching.

Good review! Thank you sir. One quick question: The website says you're supposed to be able to stuff the jacket into one of the pockets. Which pocket do you put it into (interior or exterior? right or left? does it matter?)

It packs into the left hand pocket. Thanks for watching!!!

How does it compare to the First Ascent EverTherm that you reviewed?
@GearWave3 жыл бұрын
The BC Evertherm is a bit longer, has a waterproof outer shell, a hood with adjustments if that's important to you and a couple more pockets. The Evertherm jacket also use the Thindown tech where the down is pressed into flat sheets and sandwiched between the outer and inner layers of the jacket. The FreeFuse still uses traditional down clusters but they are less prone to leaking out of the jacket because of the unique baffle construction and less stitching throughout the jacket. If your going to be in wet conditions for a prolonged period of time then the BC Evertherm would be ideal. If your running out for a shorter period of time in the wet or just dry cold conditions and want a slightly shorter and less bulky jacket choose the FreeFuse. It's treated with a durable water repellent. Thanks for watching!!

How is this free fuse down jacket different from their down light series? And it looks like the down lite uses free fuse now?
@OmarZ777 ай бұрын
They should be different. Microtherm has historically been more slim and slightly less warm than Downlight. But not sure how things are after they both became FreeFuse. Any experience which is warmer?
@jessielanham18763 жыл бұрын
How does this compare warmth wise to the Downlight Hooded Jacket?
@GearWave3 жыл бұрын
The Downlight Hooded has more down in it and is warmer. The FreeFuse is a slimmer profile for more active pursuits. The Downlight is better suited for walking and running errands outside. The FreeFuse is a light slimmer profile piece for when your going to be more active outside and you don't want to wear something too bulky. Hope this helps...thanks for watching!

Hey, Can you tell me the size jacket you have on and your height and weight if it’s not to personal? I plane yo order one but not sure on the size I need. Great video 👍
@GearWave3 жыл бұрын
I'm wearing a XL. The best way to ensure you get the right size for you is to take your chest and arm measurements and then refer to.the sizing guide of the garment because ALL pieces of outerwear are not sized the same. Some run small, others big. Thanks.flr watching
