Switching to 'smart' meter was the worst idea ever. If I could compare my overall experience with EDF it would be stepping on the mine or better yet blowing off my foot with a shotgun because after all I did this to myself..

So the phone line is open all day is it? So why do I have an automated message telling me that the office is closed at 2pm. I have topped up after my electric ran out today and now my smart meter won’t connect to the electric, although it is showing the right amount. I’m so stressed. I have 2 sons one of whom has a disability. If anyone can give me some advice I’d appreciate it so much 🙏💯🤷🏻♀️

Re "By phone, any time or day." Pure bullshit! It is 6:43pm and I have just tried. The computer left in charge told me that the lines closed at 6pm, then hung up on me.

Well this is great when you are home and this happens.. but when you are at work.. and you live alone and you run out of electricity. And then you go home with a dead phone battery, Your electricity has been off for 7 hours so the smart meter battery has died, and you are sat there wondering what amazing feat you have to go through just to get some electricity. And the answer is find someone you can ask to charge your meter.. and your phone.. 🤷🤦🙄

Went to work, kids at home, electricity runs out,,no problem just switch emergency on and I’ll top up when I get home,,,the good old days…hang on we’ve switched to this useless system can’t go and just switch to emergency. Son phones me at work to tell me he can’t switch on emergency, the screen has ran out of battery power and there’s no electric obviously. I’ve had to leave work go to the shop to get triple A batteries. Top up and still no electric! Have to now wait up to 1 hour and guess what,,,it came on at 1 hour! What’s the point - old is gold!

They are a complete joke. I tried to move from edf to another supplier years ago because I knew then they were a joke. However they dropped me right in the shit because due to their errors I ended up in debt so now stuck with them until the debt is clear. But once it is I'm gone. I have just had a smart meter put in. It's a pile of crap. Worked for an hour and hasnt worked since. Yes iv tried resetting. Unplugging etc etc. Awaiting a response maybe sometime this year

The most useless system . No 24 hour services as stated by edf . I’ve been without any electric for 5 days and have slept in my car 4 nights and can not get access to a human being the live chat is a robot and nobody seems to work over a bank holiday . Just ridiculous

I had a both a smart gas meter and electricity meter installed in March. Neither have worked correctly since. In have been without gas and electricity because my app and monitor do not work due to my area as the Internet is poor. On top of which I have incurred £53 phone charges whilst trying to sort the problem out. I do have an engineer coming out the 28th of June.

This is ridicules, I’ve been cut off twice when my meter has been only -£3 and two months ago they owed me over £800 in credit. I top up straight away as soon as I look at app which is often. Citizens Advice said they are not supposed to cut you off unless they give you seven days notice and that you’ve been in debt for more than 28 days. So I will be looking into this and if it is the case I’ll be taking further action against EDF for harassment of customers therefore putting them under unnecessary stress. I’m disabled and living on my own and I have never not payed my bills. I tried topping up my app this morning and the money is sitting in pending waiting for them to take. Really disappointed with service.

In home service stopped working after about a year... had several more sent to me but none connected. Months after raising a complaint I was told that my home was no longer connecting with the device so an IHD could no longer be used! A year later I contacted them to try to see if the IHD issue was resolved but we told that as my meter is more than a year old they can't help! Not helpful!

Worth nothing. You should have made this smart meter with at least an optional usb connection. It is 2022 guys! I have no electricity so I can not charge the smart meter so I can not activate the service after topping up. The people who designed this system should urgently look for another job and stop dealing with important decisions.
