Hakeem.. Hakim... KKHAACKK-KEEM!
This is my Hakim Rifle! A gun that... though bizarre.. really doesnt have much else going for it. However no right-minded AG42B owner would go without having a Hakim to complete the set...

I always have this mental image of the Swedes, as the Egyptian trucks were pulling out of the factory with all the tooling to make the AG42 waving goodbye, all of them with bandaged fingers and grinning like crazy.

I can confirm the AG42b is as excellent of a meal preparing tool as it's Egyptian counterpart though a finer result when it comes to scrambled eggs

I found a slightly bubba'd one at a pawn shop and got a good deal on it. I was able to restore everything except they machined the tip of the muzzle brake off....lord knows why. These are really cool rifles. I had to break several different tools to free up the gas adjustment thingy. Ended up filling the gas tube with Kroil for a few days, plugged the barrel and finally applied some heat and it broke loose. It was missing the keeper spring/indexing deal that goes under it. These beat the hell out of brass and since I reload I needed something on the shell deflector bar. The originals had a piece of leather or something but they are almost all gone now. I ended up using some thick rubber tubing and it works pretty well. Looks like the keeper on your mag catch is messed up?

yeah that spring has been broken ever since I bought the rifle. Didnt bother to replace it

@@boltforward3611 As long as your mags are staying put I guess it doesn't matter. That piece annoys me anyway, especially since I keep my rifles in those silicone socks and that part always catches

Did you cut those vent holes in the wood? That's the first time I've seen a Hakim with those

not at all, and i've seen a few like that. Probably just a variation in the manufacturing of stocks n such

Someone did because that's not factory because in Sand you don't invite it into your weapon unless someone wants to become defenseless 😅

your guess is as good as mine, the cuts look very old since the stain is there and the shelac covers them.

I would say that’s a good investment. I just don’t like how It destroys 8mm brass, not good for a reloading . Maybe a piece of leather or rubber on the deflector could help.
