I will get into this when I do my videos, but the Hakim and mainly ended up being aid from Egypt to other nations. I was able to talk to Miles Vining and got some great info for the Hakim and Rasheed. Your take down footage is very helpful.

My grandpa got very lucky and bought one for 300 at a garage sale in 2018. His has a stock disc actually and from my understanding only the 1958 production had those. Very neat rifles.

I'm Swedish, and we often pronounce things differently when we speak English. For instance, we'd say "Stockholm" just like you would when we speak English, but differently when we speak Swedish. So just go with a normal English pronunciation, just like you would when saying "Paris" in English.

I've had one of these for over 30 years. Loading tip: Always load with the safety on! You can still trip the bolt release on a partial mag especially when loading the full ten rounds from stripper clips as was intended. You need to know to properly index a stripper clip in the receiver bridge to load and the stripper clip ejects when the safety is turned off and the bolt is released. Also it was standard to set the gas adjustment on the second notch initially then adjust up or down for reliable ejection with the wide gamut of ammo that the Egyptians had available. I leave the gas on the second notch since the first sometimes gives weak ejection (but soft shooting), but the second notch still sends brass twenty feet away. The Swedish AG42 is much nicer to shoot! Also beware of early Turk ammo in these things! Turk 8mm tends to beat these up pretty good even on the lowest gas setting.

@@darrinrentruc6614 I got 8 this year (the max) and they are all in great working order with the throat and muzzle readings (in 30 years every one of my grandkids will get one if they want it). It’s random as far as specific parts makers or year but you never get anything worth less than $1,000 or $1,200 on the open market today (unlike Royal tiger) no matter what it’s a win. Also to note you get shipping and a fantastic case without tax, all 8 were $5,200 shipped with a case. The day they dry up prices will likely skyrocket

@@darrinrentruc6614 they got 70k from the Philippines a few years ago and there are probably other countries out there like that but who knows. Could be 5 years could be 25 till they run out, or an executive order to kill the operation at any given time. Eventually it will dry up though

On the Hakim, won’t keeping the safety in the “On” position prevent “Hakim thumb” until your hands/fingers are safely out of the way?
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry

Yup, at some point in the video I believe I show that but it’s been a while since I shot this video so I don’t remember for sure
@strayblackcatsmeow
@strayblackcatsmeow 7 ай бұрын
Actually not true. After the empty magazine hold open is activated, you need to put on the safety AND push forward on the dust cover to capture the bolt. Then your thumb is safe. Failing that second critical step and then single loading is what causes the accident.

Just got my hands on one from a local estate auction. I'd like to get my hands on one of those gas adjustment tools though it runs just fine in setting one. I couldn't get over how well it takes down the 8mm cartridge I see it as a nice companion to the mauser rifle and I think the design really might be well suited to less sandy environments taking it apart I saw a lot of things familiar to later designs I feel it falls somewhere between battle rifle and the early self loading rifles of interwar I saw a German k43 in the same auction you don't want to know what that went for would have loved to have that as well but it looked like it had seen enough and potentially been shot without the updated kit to preserve it from wearing or peening its parts. Here's my take on the Hakim thumb debate the rifle was meant to be operated in a specific order the only way your going to catch that bolt to the thumb is to willfully try to use the gun in a way outside of that the mag wasn't meant to be removed in use and bolt will arrest in the shroud with the safety engaged even with the odd dud strike on an old primer it's easy enough to cycle things without being pinched its just that simple. I think some of the guntubers have been unduly extra and exaggerated this particular point mine accepts stripper clips without a fight it's a dated system but it's not that user unfriendly. Apply the safety until ready to charge or fire the rifle.
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry 2 жыл бұрын
It’s an interesting one for sure, and I wholeheartedly agree that you’re probably not going to get chomped by it without being negligent, that being said it seems like it would be especially painful if it did happen. Simply learning how to operate the rifle prior to putting it into practice will pretty much put to bed any concerns over being chomped

Yeah anytime a Guntuber demonstrates the "Hakim thumb", the magazine is always out. The magazine was always meant to be in the rifle. The bolt carrier will lock back on an empty magazine and you can safely load rounds into the magazine. There is no need to falsely manufacture fear of this rifle by showing improper use.
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry 2 ай бұрын
Not a hundred percent true, if you are loading the rifle while the bolt is open and don’t engage the safety it has the potential to slam closed. The moment the feed ramp lowers on the magazine it can happen, same as the M1 Garand. Only engaging the safety neutralizes this possibility, but again like loading an M1 virtually nobody engages the safety before loading unless they are in a very controlled environment.
