What's the first question you get asked when you tell someone you have an EV? 'What's the Range?'
We've come a long way in the last decade in terms of batteries, range and efficiency! What was impressive 10 years ago is now considered woeful!
EVs now exist that can do 400 to 500 miles on a charge. The Lucid, driven carefully could perhaps challenge 1,000km. But we're still waiting for a car that can do 1,000km in the real world!
What are the factors affecting efficiency and range? Batteries, tyres, wheels, aerodynamics, etc.
Who will win the race to 1,000km? And...is that even necessary? Maybe the range we have now is fine, and what we really need is just better and more numerous chargers?!

We just need faster charging on a trip, 250 - 300 miles is fine as long as you can charge at over 150 kW start and keep to 70/80 kW at 85-90% , keeping the battery light and optimised. Plus we need car suppliers to help educate new users. I ran into a new (1 day) Tesla owner who had no clue. He was happy to be assisted and thanked me for a few nuggets of information. Surely a simple help pack should be given!

I'm with Elon. 400 miles is plenty of range for an EV. Let's focus our energies and brain power on energy density, mitigating extreme weather effects and charging speeds. In short, better chemistry. Lots of potential there yet.

Anything beyond Lucid’s 500 mile 70 MPH range is approaching human limits of travel. By the time your pit stop is over it’s charged enough to run out the rest of the day if you care for a marathon. The diminishing return of grasping at this sole metric will leave you testing only on solar panel sunny days near the equator with an EV that resembles a glider and seats one. 🤦🏻 I’m not driving a goofy looking sail boat of a car down the road and I’m not alone.
