Here I take a look at the largest 3D printer Elegoo have offered to date, the impressive Jupiter. With a extra large build volume and exciting features like resin auto feed, this metal monster certainly looks impressive.

If the screen is 5" diagonally, then it's correct. Since most screens are measured diagonally. Like televisions and computer monitors. Great review, as always!

It's just my speculation based on their eagerness to advertise the easy assemble / disassemble qualities of the Jupiter. Then the mention of an upgrade kit to 500mm, which is of course 100mm taller than the Phrozen 8K. Maybe, just maybe, they're quietly working on a screen that will give 35 micron XY printing. I genuinely hope I'm right in this guess as it would dramatically reduce shipping costs and make upgrading more affordable 😁

Upgradability could be a game changer. A friend has some some very very expensive large format resin printers that became virtually obsolete overnight. It would be amazing if they could be upgraded, they can't, at least not easily, which is a bugger.

Well... I do have an original Mars upgraded with a 1080p mono screen. And now they've released a 2k mono screen for it. It's not on par with the latest generation 4K screens, but other than that it turns an obsolete printer into a fully usable one. Granted, the Mars is probably a MUCH more widespread product than Jupiter will ever be, so it has a higher probability of getting these 3rd party upgrades, but who knows, maybe Jupiter will get a few over time as well :)

@@WojciechGolowkow the trend in 3D printers of every kind is aftermarket parts. I think it’s partly the nature of the market, the people who use them are almost always tinkerers and as creality has proven with the Ender line, you can sell cheap trash, allow others to fix it for you with an open source platform, and sell a shit ton of them. Of course being modular means there can be advances in component tech and the extension of the life of the model.

You have a prototype version of the printer, I received it last week and there is a Ethernet port and 180° hinge for the door. Leveling screw design were also upgraded. That is a very good printer for that price.

Sir, another great review. I really like how you contextually explain everything. The comparison of the build plates was very interesting. I think it would be awesome if you did a comparison video of the "big boys" . All of the large formats resin printers you have , that is if you still have the 8k mega and at least the Jupiter, and print the largest most detailed figure you can. Then compare the size and visible differences..

You could probably mill a 10mm x 3mm cylindrical hole in the side of the resin tray and mount a stirring paddle there, powered by a magnetic drive outside the tray, permanently mounted to the floor of the printer. Kind of a minature version of the washing station agitators.

Can you maybe help me with a problem I got with that mashine? The sculptures always keep glueing on the fep film but not on the top ... My wife is Wirkung with it and some of our first prints worked But now it just won't work 😟
@vogman
@vogman Жыл бұрын
No problem Boris. Everyone goes through this the first time. Firstly, take out your resin, filter it, then clean your vat and plate properly. This is important as when you have misprints, small pieces can come loose in the resin and these might puncture the FEP. After that, make sure the plate is levelled properly. This is probably the biggest cause of misprints, so get this bit right. After that, you need to make sure the settings are right on your resin (the second biggest cause of misprints). Have a look at this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLWadZZ315OUnqM.html Please don't worry. Everyone goes through this at the start. Once you've got the resin settings right, it will become nice and easy for you 😁

Bonjour, j'aime vraiment Hello, I have a lot of amiration on your way of presenting the articles. I have a question because I may be taking the step for a resin 3d printer. do you think Jupiter could benefit from time evolution or do you think Elegoo has a change of heart? a lot of sales at the moment and I would like your opinion on 4 machines if you obviously agree. You place them in your order of preference: Elegoo Saturn, Anycubic M3 Max, the Peopoly forge and the GK 2 (smaller but innovative I find). I don't make miniatures and I make busts or figurines of +- 20 cms in general. Thanks for your feedback.

What is this separation you speak of? Is that why some of my prints have a weird split in them?
@vogman
@vogman 2 жыл бұрын
Possibly Allen. You should always shake (or stir) resin before use because it separates. If the colour is streaked, it needs a mix and yes, it could cause printing problems. Splitting could also be down to poor supports or the normal layer height timing may need increasing a little 😁

If they release a higher resolution screen, 8K or higher, this would become more attractive. Also not loving the plate mounting system. Do love the simplicity of the auto-fill system though, just a bottle cap, which would be cheap to replace and far less likely to fail or clog than the AnyCubic system.

Building printers with upgradeability in mind isn't exactly a new concept. EPAX has been doing it for years. The X10 has had three screen upgrades since it originally came out, and an upgrade to the UV source. They really support their products for the long term.

Great review. Personally I hope they do the opposite and allow a shorter Z-axis upgrade. I sell miniatures so I prefer X and Y expansion over Z height. So for me, there's a lot of wasted Z-axis space.

Why would you want that? If you're only going to print smaller things, there's no point in making the rails any smaller? I don't understand why you mean by wasted z-axis space, it's not like it makes your print any slower or worse.

More expensive units do. My Form 2 is heated, auto dispenses, and auto stirs. But all that comes at a price. But it is a good sign that lower cost units are starting to bring in auto dispense. In time the other features will be there as well. In fact print quality is pretty much getting there. So the bigger boys are going to have to step up their game to keep those higher prices.

I think the K factor resolution race is something of a lite con for those not in the know. People see a number and are wowed by it rather than doing the math.
