I tried the Eley Club in my Ruger 10/22 with 20" Kidd barrel, and it shot reasonably well, although it would not shoot half inch groups at 50 yards. They averaged 1,036 fps over the chronograph. I also tried the Eley Club in my Charles Daly bolt action by Zastava. I only managed one group under half an inch at 50 yards. The rest were all under 3/4". Over the chronograph, they averaged 1,072 fps from the 22" barrel of the Charles Daly.

I love 52's, have 4 of 'em! I shot rimfire BR competition for lots of years, and built rimfire BR rifles. However, I never used 52's as BR rifles. My rifles were built off 40X Rem actions with Jewell triggers. Won a National championship in 2006. But, I built a few BR rifles off 52-D actions for others and they were excellent. Slick working actions. Eley Club? SOme lots are decent, some aren't as with all Eley ammo. LOL Enjoyed your video.

I have used the Eley Club in a few different rifles, and so far, have not found one that really likes that ammo. I had similar results, 60%-75% would shoot tight and always had 1-2 open up the group. Was considering sorting to see if there were different rim thicknesses that could be the cause. Haven't checked it through the chronograph either.

I for one has not had any better groups at 50 yards with Eley with my CZ 457 match rifle. I tried Wolf "Gold Match" [german] made which delivered 1/2" to 3/4" groups at the 50 yard target. I'll also use Norma standard velocity for fine tuned hole punching. The truth is that certain production runs of Eley can give better results than others. So the luck of the purchase is at hand. Caveat Emptor!

Hey Top, as stated in an earlier comment the last time you shot the 52d, I have had and shoot a 52d for 50 years. For many, many years I only shot Remington 22 LR match ammo but frankly, in my opinion. the last 10-12 years, Rem match 22LR is no better than it's standard 22. After trying different brands for various manufactures, various countries of origin, I found that my 52d shoots Agulia better than any other brand of 22 LR ammo, match or standard. Now I'd like to throw out something other than the Twist and the length of the two different barrels you're shooting, In shooting various brands, to find the best shooting, I'v noticed the "crimp factor",ie., "modified crimp" or "no crimp" or an "actual crimp" in 22 LR ammo. You and I both know that in itself will make a difference. No I haven't weighed out 22 rounds, only do that on my 30-06 match grade reloading, with 168g BTHP, for my 40x As far as looking for a screw for the scope, have someone you know check out the thread and the depth, then search through old rifle, pistol parts at Jack First Gun Parts and Numeric gun parts. You might find one that has the same thread, thread depth with a shoulder high enough to hold the spring in place. Both have screws from older Mossberg, Remington, Winchester, and some foreign firearms. Just a thought.

Shooter plays a large part, but we've all seen you shoot well. I don't think this is on the shooter or conditions but rather the gun itself. The groups themselves have no consistency or predictability. We've seen it with the higher end ammo and now with this ammo. Given that last group, even a broken clock is right twice a day. I would love to see some more testing with Center-X and Midas Plus since that's what the barrel was headspaced for and I think that will truly determine if there something wrong with the gun.
