I am pretty sure Damon's Powers are canon. Damon could control crows and manipulate fog and yes he did that in Season 1. But in Season 3 episode 16 (“1912”) a controlled crow appeared in a flashback. Why would the writers include that for no reason? And here you see Damon's fog too, it's only on the road. You can clearly see that's not natural fog, I don't see any other reason how there could be fog there in the middle of nowhere, on the road. Such a shame the writers didn’t make Damon’s character use his powers anymore later on. It could have been like a side storyline in another season. Like, one out of so many vampires are gifted vampires and they just get to have powers like this. But hey, that’s just what I was thinking :P
