It was Lunchtime here in Hanoi Vietnam and that means one thing - everybody is in search of some delicious vietnamese street food.
Our first stop was a little street food shop selling Bun Thang which is pretty much a forgotten street food here in Hanoi, foreigners seem to know nothing about this dish and favour the more popular street foods like Pho etc.
We found bun Thang to be super delicious and hearty, I really recommend more people try this Hanoi specialty. The Bun thang cost us 40k VND which is so affordable.
We went for a little walk through Hanoi's streets before coming across another little hidden gem.
The owner here spoke great English and was super friendly, he showed us how he prepares the food fresh and we had some seriously delicious street food here, I can't remember the names of the dishes!!
For 45k VND each this meal was honestly incredible I love vietnamese food so much it's so fresh and the portions are huge! He also gave us a beef Pho broth each to go with our food which was just amazing.
I love Hanoi the street food culture is incredible you could spend months here eating in a different place everyday 🇻🇳

Bun thang is a traditional dish in Hanoi, this dish is often eaten after Tet, this dish is very difficult to prepare, so most of it is homemade, now there are almost no restaurants in Hanoi. this is all ready

Bun Thang is a traditional soup in Hanoi . The word Thang comes from the double word Thang Thuoc which means a herbal medicine potion containing several active ingredients . By similarity Bun Thang is a noodle soup made of many components ( noodle , chicken , shrimp paste , shrimp floss , pork sausage , minced pork , Shiitake mushroom , egg , Vietnamese basil , etc...) . The Bun Tron is actually a new dish originated from the South .

@@EllisWR You are welcome . You should try the sticky rices called Xoi at Xoi Yen restaurant on Nguyen Huu Huân street . There you can find many varieties of Xoi . Also Cha Ca , a traditional Hanoian fish dry hot pot and Bun Dâu ( noodle with fried Tofu , boiled pork , pork sausage with young rice grain , cucumber , lettuce , soybean sprouts and several kinds of herbs) . But don't eat those dishes with Mam Tom (shrimp paste sauce which smell is maybe too strong for you ) . Ask them to give you the prepared fish sauce ( fish sauce mixed in water , vinegar , sugar and garlic ) instead . BTY did you already try Bun Cha , Bun Rieu , Nem Cua Be , Nem Chua Ran , Banh Cuon, Banh Cuon Thit Nuong , Pho Cuon , Bun Moc , Ngan Chay Toi ( BBQ Muscovy Duck with fried garlic) , Banh Da Cua ( noodle crab soup from Hai Phong ), Mien Luon (eel glass noodle soup), Mien Xao Cua (stir-fried glass noodle with crab), Com Chien Hai San (seafood stir-fried rice ), Com Bo Xao Dua ( beef and pickled mustard cabbage fried rice ) , Rau Muong Xao Toi ( fried Morning Glory with garlic ) yet . Those are classical Hanoian/North Vietnamese dishes . If you go down to Central and South Vietnam , you will discover a lot more delicious local specialities there such as Bun Bo Hue , Banh Hue , Com Am Phu , My Quang , Cao Lâu ( only in Hoi An ) , Banh Xeo , Bun Thit Nuong , Hu Tiu , Nem Nuong , Nem Lui , Bun Ca , Banh Canh Cua , Goi Ga , Goi Du Du or Goi Xoai ( papaya or mango salad with shrimp and pork meat ) , Chao Tom ( grilled shrimp cake on sugar cane) , Ca Loc Nuong Trui ( BBQ snakehead fish , a speciality of the Mekong delta region ), Thit Bo Bây Mon ( Beef Cooked in Seven Ways , my favorite dish in HCMC ) and many many more delicious dishes . If you want to try all the foods that VN can offer , you probably have to spend at least one year to travel all over the country .

@@EllisWR He doesn't know you can eat mam tom, so when you eat bun dau mam tom, make sure you do eat it with the shrimp paste. Just ask them how to mix it up first as it needs the shrimp paste, sugar, kumquat, and I think oil to be stirred vigorously until it's foamy before eating.
