The Partridge canon is huge. You can find the resolution of the TV contract issue in his autobiography "I Partridge, We Need To Talk About Alan" (the audiobook read in character by Steve Coogan is an absolute joy) which also covers Alan's own recollections/interpretations of the events you've seen in the series. It's a work of genius.

His rivalry with Clifton made a lot more sense in S1- the breakfast show is one of the biggest slots on radio, so Alan was probably just jealous. Not sure what his beef is now that Clifton is doing the midnight shift.
@0okamino
@0okamino 29 күн бұрын
I think it boils down to a clash of egos. Sometimes an antagonistic rivalry just won’t die. It’s possible that David is still considered a better DJ, and brought more popularity to the later time slot than Alan did. That would continue to get under Alan’s skin.

It's a poor amount for being a PA. Especially with all the crazy tasks Alan has her doing - you see her working extremely late nights or early like in the traffic cone episode. The humour of the line comes from Alan thinking he's being extremely generous, when he's basically exploiting her.

Sadly wages haven't kept up with inflation in the main. I was earning £18k a year in 2002, which was an okay entry level wage. Bank of England inflation would put that at around £32k today. There's no way the job I was doing then would pay £32k.
