Levy is crushing the chess game on KZfaq (and Twitch!). Check him out: / gothamchess
I have been bleeding Elo like crazy so I called in an EMERGENCY Elo intervention from none other than IM Levy Rozman (aka GothamChess). Can his chess know-how save me from bullet quicksand?

NL the chess content is fantastic. Dont beat yourself up too much about your ELO and your recent games. Might sound obvious but I think you forget that your opponents dont have an audience and dont need to win while being entertaining for their viewers. I'd rather see you have some fun with the game rather than knocking out win after win in silent focus, if that means taking a hit on your score in the short term it might not be for the worst.

35:20 Always gives me warm fuzzy feelings when Levy compliments NL. His general style tends to be a little stoic/serious, and he's so much better at the game than your average player that sometimes it can feel like he's above you. Then he gives you a compliment and it's impactful because it feels earned and like he genuinely means it. I love people like that. I only know Levy from NL's recent streams, but dang, you gotta appreciate his respect for NL, what a guy.

@@darrenfleming7901 The better explanation is this. Gootecks made the PogChamp face 10 years ago, since then he's changed for the worse. He's desperately wanted to get away from being the face of PogChamp and twitch has wanted to get away from him because of the awful homophobic, racist and xenophobic things he's said. After he called for violence during the riots in the capital of the US this last tuesday it really broke the camel's back and twitch was forced to remove him. It was a generally agreed upon good decision and twitch is making a new PogChamp emote every 24 hours when eventually (likely in a week or two) they will decide on one.

The dichotomy of the comments section is wild sometimes. For Chess, the comments section has been mostly constructive and supportive, especially this one and the last few as well. I love to see people supporting and being kind to NL when he's been having a bit of a rough patch with a game, but I'd love to see that same energy with other games as well, such as Slashers keep, where he was backseated into oblivion and had an overall bad experience due to that. If you really like NL and want to keep seeing him flourish, bring this same energy to other series as well, and not just one you enjoy the most. Remember, NL is human and this is a job for him, may as well make it as fun for him to create the content as it is as fun for us to watch it. Keep up the positive guys!
@Nowolf
@Nowolf 3 жыл бұрын
sorry, but 'do the thing you specifically said you were going to do in this video, "use the chute to pay it forward", instead of yeeting it into the void'....look, I've seen ''backseat into oblivion' on slay the spire and other similar games, where the comment section has the benefit of scrubbing through or pausing for every move to come up with optimal plays. but 'use the chute' was not that. he got salty and needed to make room in his schedule anyways. It's fine, Malf does the slasher's keep content peeple need, NL's not gonna be mad about malf geeting some support.
@TheChocolateSailor19
@TheChocolateSailor19 3 жыл бұрын
@@Nowolf Not necessarily the point I was making, but alright. I feel NL had a good thing with Slashers Keep but with his constant backlog its hard to immediately see changes in his videos from what the commenters are just yelling about and being rude about in the comments. While it is nice that MALF plays Slashers keep, not everyone that watches NL watches MALF as well (I do, but this is just for the sake of the argument). It's just certain toxic groups that can destroy a creators enjoyment of the game and it's a shame to see it when a lot of those people stick up for him otherwise.
@Nowolf
@Nowolf 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheChocolateSailor19 maybe, but once again, I've seen issue of backlog come up. this was not a backlog issue. let's go back and watch NL's last two slasher's keep videos again, he himself has thoroughly and explicitly realized that progress in the game is all about using the chute. he fails to do so. Now, go down to that comment section, and eliminate all the comments that are about that singular and specific failure. Then tell me how much 'backseating' you can actually find. yeah, I've also heard he brief, salt-and-sarcasm filled mockery of the comments on an nlss. I just also remember what the comments actually were. Strange hill to die on, I know, but any other game or series, you're probably right. slasher's keep wasn't one of them. and honestly, it probably motivated people to look into malf a little, since he kept mentioning how he was getting advice from him.
