Bargain in concert is amazing. I've seen them 4 times and every time it is one of the highlights. The entire arena singing "the best I ever had!" is just wonderful.

I remember the first time I heard "Bargain." The spring of 73 - on 8 track. I was 12. My first reaction was that this is less a song than an experience. When the song was over I actually felt mentally drained (in a good way) from the experience. That's how powerful it was. The feeling was something like the feeling you get after going on one of the DisneyWorld indoor rides like "It's a small world," Although the song's theme ("I'll pay any price") was not a new one, I felt as if I'd never heard the concept before. And haven't heard it since. To me, "Bargain" is one of the most underrated rock songs ever.

It's actually about searching for God. Pete was/still is a devotee of Meher Baba. Drowned is another song about the same topic.

Toronto version is the bomb. I saw them the week before Toronto when they were in Syracuse. This was my fist concert and if I remember the ticket was 15 -20 dollars, and we had decent seats. We were close enough to feel the heat from the lights.

He was also one of the main influences in the final sound of Marshall amps. I wont go so far as to say he was instrumental in the development of the sound. Oooops.. I did it again!!!

Pete's song on the Who album "Who By Numbers" called However Much I Booze is probably the most soul baring, honest introspection song ever. The say Keith broke down into tears when he heard the demo of the song for the first time.

They were pretty inactive though for a couple decades.

@@mrtyreus0 looks like they went out at least once in every decade. Several tours in the 80s and 2000's. Some limited. Even when they weren't actively touring they were finding reasons to get together for benefits and such. I recall them playing a big live broadcast benefit performance for 9/11 in 2001. My point was that Keith Moon's death never really stopped them from performing. Apparently they're scheduled to go out next year pandemic permitting.

Their recent band is pretty good. Besides Pete and Roger they have Zak Starkey on drums (Ringo's kid and formerly with Oasis) and Pino Palladino is about the only bass player who could hang with Entwhitsle.

I have an original mint vinyl copy of The Who Sell out. I reckon it might be worth a few bucks. It's also a very good album I particularly recommend Tattoo, I Can See for Miles or Rael as stand out tracks.

A great song and album from the transition period from AM 45's to FM album cuts but I have to disagree on what is their best album. Who's Next is on millions of rocker's all time top ten album lists with every cut a classic.

That part where Pete does about 50 windmills in 2 seconds as Daltrey is absolutely wailing into 2 microphones at once is one of the greatest moments in the history of rock concerts!

bostonwhofan I’m always blown away when I hear the Isle of Wight version. I don’t think Alex and Andy watch videos so they’d miss the theatrics but I really hope they get to Young Man Blues one day. I love it so much, I want others to enjoy it and to hear how great The Who is live.

I think "Cry If You Want" is the best song on that album. On the 2006 tour the Who performed a version of My Generation that segued into Cry If You Want and it worked really well.

Also, you'll start hearing it on TV etc. The very long intro makes it perfect for intros and outros.

I totally have always felt the same.

Basically everything since Moon died has been Townshend solo work that occasionally has Roger Daltrey sing.

When Moon OD'd the rest of the band agreed that they wanted someone they considered a friend to take over. Kenny Jones fit the profile and is a great drummer in his own right but was never a good fit for their music. The list of guys that could step in after Keith Moon is a short one.

Supposedly, an alternate take exists where Daltrey did the lead vocals on the track. Considering that Daltrey thought this was the only song from 'It's Hard' that was worth releasing, one does kind of wonder why they didn't use his version...

The Who recorded a version of Eminence Front with Roger on vocals but it's never been released and I don't know anyone that's ever heard it.
