Well April has been and gone with only 1 little ride around Bristol. A huge amount of change though and plans for some trips in the not so distant future.
One thing that needs fixing badly however is the issue I still have with the bike after little spill in Belgium - not just bend handlebars, but wonky forks! It's al fixable and explains why the handling has been so bad for so long. Time for a couple of hours in the workshop to sort.
Much more riding to come soon.

Looking forward to seeing the thunder cave update 😀. Since you last mentioned it, I can't stop looking at HDs as well. But similar situation with a house reno means more dreaming required at the moment 😅

That's a lot of miles with out of sync forks! The bike will probably feel like a million bucks once you get it sorted out!

Great video Matt. I parked up at my sons I flicked the side stand down (or so I thought) and went to lean her over, somehow it flicked back up and over she went. Had a quick check around and hopefully it’s just a bent clutch lever which I’ve already brought. Good luck fellow Thunderbird man 👍

What a nightmare. Glad you didn't bend the bars!

@@thebristolthunderbird it didn’t fall on its weight I managed to cushion the fall so I don’t think the bars are bent, but I will check.

It stands for 883 R'ethink ya choice... once the initial novelty has worn off you might start wondering why you didn't go for one of the Dyna models, right from the get-go! That happened to me. Wanted a Sporty so I bought one, but got fed up with it after 18 months, so sold it and bought a Dyna Wide Glide... had her now for 10 years this coming June! With a Dyna you'll get further with more comfort and less fatigue. The Sportster is really only good as a commuter, or a Café hopper. Certainly not for trips abroard especially if you wanna go in a group. Stay well and ride safe. S.

Spot on I’ve had a few Sportsters including an 883r (with 1200 conversion) and the Dyna is so much better for any kind of distance. Even with the 1200cc engine you still feel like you’re revving the nuts out of it on the motorway. It’ll feel like a small bike after the Thunderbird. But they do look and sound great! Even after owning an 883r I still don’t know what the r is for 😂 The only difference from standard is twin discs up front and 2 into 1 pipe which doesn’t sound as good as 2 into 2 in my opinion.

@@Hangman74 Oh yeah, I also wanted to include the bit about the Sportster feeling slow and clunky after his T'bird., but forgot!

Been thinking myself about getting a sportster 883 but concerned as about the vibration and lack of power. Coming from a suzuki I worry that the dream might not match the reality? Bigger harleys are out of my budget.

@@leebarnes8999 Yep Lee, same thing happened with me, abandoned a Suzii for a Sporty... bad choice! Sporty's are well known for the vibrations. They do have quite a bit of Torque though, if that's your thing. I'd say, unless you know them, try loaning or hireing one fo 3 or 4 days before buying.

Haha. You might be right. But that Harley itch starts with a Sportster doesn't it? It's like the initial tumble into the rabbit hole...
