Thanks for posting. I have always enjoyed this film,. It is really solid, with Durrenmatt's great story and Morricone's score ensuring it is never boring. The violinist was Pinchas Zuckerman, and Durrenmatt himself plays a small role as the writer. There is a longer version of it which I have never seen and would really like to find.

Interesting film,good to see Robert Shaw and Donald Sutherland R.I.P., Jon Voight was impossibly handsome with those ice blue eyes no wonder Angelina.Jolie is a stunner.

The very silly/bizarre opening is not in the story. Nor is the buffoonery with the corpse and the police hat in the car . Amazed some viewers like the script but then KZfaq commentaries make it abundantly clear that there are more undiscerning and easily pleased individuals in the world than otherwise. NB the author Friedrich Durenmatt makes a cameo appearance - look out for the the portly gent in the glasses emerging from behind a tree as the policeman approaches the car. And read the novella!
