After experiencing the problems first hand in Nicaragua, Mary Ellsberg has devoted her life to advocating for women's rights and social justice worldwide. In her talk, Mary explains her experience and emphasizes the importance of protecting and maintaining basic human rights for everyone.
Mary Ellsberg is the Founding Director of the Global Women's Institute at George Washington University. As a public health researcher and life-long activist, she is committed to conducting research that shines a light on social injustice and contributes to improving the lives of women and girls worldwide. She left college during her senior year to join the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua, and stayed there for the next 18 years, working in community health and women’s rights programs. Dr. Ellsberg carried out the first prevalence study on violence against women in Nicaragua. Since then, she has authored more than 40 books and articles on violence against women and girls globally and was a member of the Core Technical Team of the WHO Multi-country Study on Women’s Health and Domestic Violence against Women. She continues to speak out and is proud to have been arrested twice last year with immigrant’s rights activists protesting the breaking up of families through deportation.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Brilliant weaving of the personal and the professional, the quantitative and the qualitative, and the data with advocacy.

Smartass012 liberals don't know what love is and because they manipulate emotion so much they have. threaten by nature reactions actually inspire thought. love is chemical reaction or not single emotion it's a way thought then you could thought it self physical electricity waves in the brain but love is more looking from another prospective caring about them as your self looking for fairness. actually quite simple concept if can make connection higher brain ability actually can increase just like that. Rihanna in fact was not lying to her self she was wondering. and from what she described before hand she was probably gonna break up with him anyway. so come Of Rihhana don't act Upon Rihanna look your own situations all prospectives thinks what's best every one and you don't have to be with someone to love them especially if they need professional help or to get act together. Rihanna is so blind she is blind.

it's good to teach people to defend themselves and preach against violence but . what she has in mind turns men into victims and women into abusers. it's a pride of strength for them to beat up a jerk . but you find your self beaten by a girl like Carmen . don't feel ashamed of course she beat you you couldn't fight back . but have ways of taking power away from women. first thing they'll go for is the crutch use your own leg to intercept while taking jump back don't leave your face open . if you end up on the ground not all over use legs again to push away but more importantly protect your gut before gets hits.
