In the 2nd episode of our Twister XT deep dive video series I cover the differences between the new XT Premium liner and the previous Twister Edge liner. There are some welcome changes that greatly improve the fit and performance. In practical terms many people will be able to squeeze into a smaller size Twister boot thanks to this new liner. Learn why I believe this is one of the best liners Rollerblade has ever made.

The insoles were improved on the edge x to be the same exact ones as the xt as well. Those flimsy foam insoles were done away with after the first year and only kept on the regular twister edge. The ones they used to offer with supreme wheels for $249

I was trying to find an aftermarket liner for the older Twister but seems like the majority, if not all, the liner options are more catered towards aggressive inline. It's actually frustrating when I call skate shops to inquire whether a certain liner would work in a Twister boot, nobody knows. It's like I have to be able to slide down a stair bannister to get answers

Why wouldn't they cater to Aggressive Inline? Who the hell do you think kept this industry afloat for the past 2 decades? Who do you think makes those aftermarket liners? MyFit is made by Powerslide, whose bread n butter is USD...an aggressive skate company. Reign is made by Razors...an aggressive skate company. Intuition which is primarily manufactures liners for Snowboard & Ski boots, didn't make inline liners until there was a demand for them....for Aggressive skates. Who do you think all these Inline skate manufacturers use to legitimize the Urban/Freeskate/Wizard and all the other sub-genres of inlining? Those are all aggressive Inliners shooting the promo material. How dare you chastise the folks that kept the whole inline industry afloat long after people thought it was cool & corporate blood suckers thought they milked it for whatever it was worth. You should be thanking Aggressive Inliners.

I appreciate the passion (we are all friends here so hints of condescension probably aren’t necessary), but you seem to have a very aggressive-centric view of inline skating. I believe Intuition started making skate liners because Leon Basin of Shop Task / Wizard Skating approached them first for the Seba FR1 (v1 Skate Liner), and then for the Seba SX Wizard boot (v2 Skate Liner). Please correct me if I have my history wrong. Aggressive adoption of the liner did not happen before this. Rollerblade and K2 have done a great job of staying in business for the last 20 years mostly not making aggressive skates as far as I can tell. Most skating that happens around the world is not aggressive skating believe it or not…slalom, fitness, downhill, speed skating, recreational, marathon, dance/rink. Somehow I’ve managed to skate for almost 30 years and avoid grinding anything. ☺️ I’m proud to feature skaters who simply skate because it’s fun.

Philip, I would try contacting Rollerblade directly and see if they will sell you a new Twister XT liner. It’s really quite good. Most liners will work with most boots. What is uncertain is whether or not you would like the fit and performance. My recommendation would be to get a Twister XT liner if possible. If you have the money then I can’t recommend the Intuition liners highly enough. They are my personal favorite.

There is a really good resource for liner and shells fitting on this issoul website. Take a look

You can easily add your own eyelets grommets on the old liners with a kit off Alibaba. I preferred the old liners, they were thicker. New ones are definitely intuition inspired

What length laces are required to lace the liner to the cuff on the Twister XT?

I think I am presently using 84 inch laces and they have a decent amount of extra length.

Does it fit the UFR shell? And would it be an upgrade from the stock FR liner? Not the Inuition Version.
@endlessblading

I imagine the RB liner would fit the UFR shell. I have not tried it. I definitely think it's an upgrade from the stock FR liner. I find that liner to be comfortable, but very sluggish in terms of performance. Because it is such a fluffy liner, movements don't transfer efficiently to the wheels. The RB liner is better in that regard.

@@endlessblading Thanks for the quick answer. I'm concerned that the shell might be too big, considering the Intuition Version comes a shell size smaller then the stock FR option. Might have to go to a shop and try it, specially having the size 12 shell.

@@PopyMartins What size liner are you trying to stick in which size UFR? My experience is that the size 40.5-41.5 UFR with Intuition is equivalent in size to the size 40.5-41 (26.0-26.5) Twister XT. The liners are about the same size.

@@endlessblading My UFR boot is Size 45EU FR Liner Version (shell 12). Looking for the 29cm XT Liner, would be 44.5EU I guess.

@@PopyMartins What's your measured foot length? I think that's the better question. If your foot is 28.5-29 cm long (and not too wide) then you can likely fit the size 43-44 Twister XT liner. I found the Twister sizing to match up well with the FR1 Intuition sizing. So that would be the shell size 10 UFR. Those puffy stock FR liners really inflate the size you need. The Twister liner is lower volume like Intuition. I hope that all makes sense.

wouldn't this be bad news for people who fit perfectly in the old twister edge? now with a thinner liner, it would be loose for them. Isn't a thicker liner that (over time) compresses according to your foot width a better solution than making liners that cater only for wide feet?
@endlessblading
@endlessblading Жыл бұрын
I don’t believe that would be true. My foot is narrow/average. Like I mentioned in the video I was able to drop a whole shell size. That’s a big benefit. I think if you had a comfort fit in the old Twister Edge then you can have a similar fit by using the included footboard sizer and choosing the same size you had. I had a pretty good fit in the Twister Edge. Not tight, but not loose. Now I have an excellent snug fit in the XT. Thick poofy liners that change shape over time just lead to fit issues and hot spots / blisters in my experience. Plus you get a more sluggish and less responsive skate with your foot moving within the liner. I’m a big proponent of sizing one’s boots/liners for a performance fit, and not a loose comfort fit.
