Opel (Vauxhall) Mokka is taking on the B-SUV segment. So far Nissan Juke had virtually no competition. At first glance Mokka looks promising. There is a potent turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet, interior space is generous, and if you have deep pockets there is a long options list, so you can equip your Mokka like a premium segment car.
In the coming months Mokka will have new competition like Renault Captur ( • (ENG) Renault Captur 1... ), Peugeot 2008 ( • (ENG) Peugeot 2008 All... ), Ford EcoSport or Fiat 500X. And then there's its cheaper twin Chevrolet Trax.

Keep up the great review mate, nicely summed up with good & bad points of a car! Greetings from England xD And I think these mini crossovers are a fashion statement, 'style over substance' kinda thing, and we don't even expect a good resale value at the end of the year, especially given the hefty price for a good spec model.

Swietne review!, zawieszenie straszne , ostatio mialam przyjemnosc jazdy probnej capturem renault i powiem, ze tez zawieszenie nie jest tak miekkie a jazda nie jest tak plynna jak poglam sie tego spodziewac...no coz ale podoba mi sie design tego auta i go kupuje;-)

What's the problem with the rear axel being connected by an electromagnetic clutch?

I was informing, rather than criticising. There's nothing wrong with it. Actually it may be better than Haldex, because you can lock it.

Marek Drives After looking at almost every model on the market from the Qashqai to the Dacia Duster I ended up choosing the Mokka over the Peugeot 3008 (a lot had to do with aesthetics). You're spot on about the cabin insulation and hearing every bump you go over because of the suspension, but overall I am pretty happy with it. It's quite comfortable and the interior is very spacious. I'm 1.92m tall and can still fit a normal size passenger behind me. I really love the ride height too. It's something I have missed in Europe after spending my life driving full size American pickups.

You indicated that the rear axel can be locked. Does that mean that I could lock it on a permanent basis or to install a switch whereby I can control the lock of the four wheels before I get into to trouble?

+Nicholas Duval In other cars with electromagnetic clutch you can usually lock it in permanent 50:50 front to rear torque split (without getting into details of what the computer may be doing). Here more torque is just sent to the back when needed, but you cannot lock it.

+Marek Drives, for a small all around little AWD that can take me to the beach and the snow mountains, is it something that I should be looking at? Considering the fact that I want an engine no bigger than 1.6. The new one is 1.6 diesel with 135BHP and can be upgraded to 180 I was told. I like something that I can lock the 4WD system but I know this is not available at small SUV's and with less than 2L engines. Prices is an issue as well... Look forward to your opinion.

+Nicholas Duval It's been a while, since I posted this review. Since then the prices changed (the Mokka is no longer so outrageously expensive), and the competition has changed. This is a small car, with limited off-road abilities. Chip tuning the diesel may cost you later, when time comes for repairs. Also don't forget the brakes are designed for 135, not 180 hp, and resulting speeds, acceleration, braking. If you want something fast, get a sports car or a hot hatch. If you don't mind slow, take a look at the new Suzuki Vitara. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fteggcZnma2uYJc.html We don't get the diesel Vitara here in Poland, but it should be available elsewhere in Western Europe. And do you really need a diesel? Is it because of taxes or the milage you plan doing?

+Marek Drives - Diesel is because of milage and taxes as well. It is a lot cheaper to run diesel of course. I like the new Skoda Yeti and VW Tiguan (2016 modes) but are only coming in 2L engines - they do have though a much better 4WD system. Thank you though for your response and advise. Have a great day

+Nicholas Duval Actually diesels are more expensive to fix, once they go wrong. But if taxes and prices of fuel offset this risk, then choose a diesel by all means. Have a nice weekend!

Trax is (IMO) slightly uglier on the outside, but I like Chevy's interior more. Trax is also cheaper. I'd wait for more B-SUVs to hit the dealerships, and then make up my mind.

Kolego ale powiedz mi dlaczego nie mówisz po polsku w końcu jesteś Polakiem. Czy ojczysty język jest dzisiaj dla polaków powodem do wstydu. Mokka z polskim softem (menu) a opis przez Polaka po angielsku naprawdę tego nie rozumie i nie ma znaczenia czy my Polacy znamy inne języki, niech inni się uczą naszego języka a nie na odwrót - przypomnę "(...) Polacy nie gęsi i swój język mają (...)" Wystarczy spojrzeć na pliki wideo zamieszczone przez Rosjan, Niemców, Czechów oni używają swoich ojczystych języków a jestem pewien że przynajmniej jeden język obcy też dobrze znają.

Mój model biznesowy przewiduje dotarcie do Polaków i do odbiorców anglojęzycznych. Ci drudzy jakoś nigdy nie mają problemu z tym, że mówi do nich Polak, Czech, Węgier, itp.
